    Best Chips

    The food snobs will say it depends on what you're eating them with, but who cares, just pick the best ones.

    Please discuss your favourite frozen chip makes in thread and also show appreciation to their cousins, the wedges/croquettes (lol)/potatoe smiles.

    I'd use that to describe "steak cut" though.

    I'd each pretty much any chip tbf. Curly is easily the worst.

    Yeah, fries are thin things that you barrel into your mouth. Fast food imitations, basically. Although Americans don't know the difference so they see fries as an all-encompassing term.

    i love the greasy soggy glory of chip shop chips, but have a soft spot for the ridiculously crispy ones you get from wetherspoons. chips and potato products generally are excellent though. hash browns, french fries, waffles, all amazing. i'll even tolerate curly fries if i'm having a hot dog or something. chips.

    Wedges are good, as long as they are seasoned well, and also sweet potato fries (with Sweet Baby Ray's sauce).

    I love:
    * Waffles
    * Smilies
    * Curly fries
    * McCain chips

    The imitation store brand McCain chips are sub par.

    Edit: sweet potatoe fries are the lowest of the low in the chip family. Soggy sacks of shit.

    Generally I agree with you on sweet potato chips being soggy, but we got some frozen ones recently that were crispy as anything. They were banging.

    Well you could use some egg to bind it together.

    I just put the shredded potato (after being strained in a cloth) in the pan with a lot of butter. It's glorious.

    The best chips I've had were served in a cone out of a hole in the wall in Amsterdam. They were like those ones northerners think are nice, but actually nice.

    York has what styles itself as a Dutch chip shop, and the chips are great, but it's just chips in a cone and an abnormal choice of moody sauces.

    After I read the post back I was expecting 'lol cannabis' gags, but fair play you've gone one below that.

    I'm not going to get into the sauce on chips debate again, but safe to say anyone who likes the red stuff should not be walking free.

    Saw a bloke in the chippy once ask for no salt and vinegar on his. What kind of pervert does that? He had them open and ate on his way out, so wasn't even like he was taking them home to do it himself (as you'd have to do, because the Chinese woman serving them would barely give you a light dusting of salt).
