Forgot about the John Wick films, although even there only the first one is any good. Now that I'm thinking there have been a couple of others in recent years that just took the old formula and stuck a woman in the lead, like Atomic Blonde and Haywire.
Still, though, there's a nostalgic audience for the proper eighties action film full of cheesy one liners and cackling villains, and not nearly enough of those films being made.

We went round my mum's yesterday for lunch and later in the afternoon my sister and her family arrived. We exchanged gifts, mostly for the kids. My sister got my wife a present but not me, which, whatever, not an issue really. Disney took 80% of all money in the industry this year. They have policies that dictate how many screens they must be on or you don’t get access to the films at all. That has far more to do with it then any nonsense about political correctness gone mad.

As far as CINEMA goes, I just blame them chasing lowest common denominator with shite like super hero films. The fact that a huge percentage of you lot, people I'd consider vastly more cultured and intelligent than yr average geezer on the street, seem to watch all billion marvel films they shit out every year, probably sez something though I'm not sure what exactly.
The "funny" lines in those films always seem to be some comic book man doing the peoples eyebrow/the DreamWorks face, followed by beating someone up or some shit then saying something sassy. That kind of shite makes me pine for the halcyon days of a knights tale.
