I decided today to sell my tradeable Dias and upgraded to Laporte. Also picked up Phillips as I like him irl. Feels good in game.
I've got fuck all from these preview packs. I think I've bought one non-bronze one which had gold Laporte in it just because I'd break-even and I wanted to see what the next one was.
Kimmich looks fantastic so I had to do him. Sacrificed Forsberg (never used him) and Aguero (who was shit) but he's like the 4th best player in the game. I can fit him in either at RM on 10 chem once I get Puskas or more likely at RB on 7 and keep Dembele in the first XI. Just need to do the 20 Rivals games.

Matthaus SBC has got me interested too as I've got Kimmich and it lets me do this - will try out his loan. Other option is to sell Cantona and bring Lewandowski back into the squad. They're too similar to play together I feel.

If it's the "Heroes" thing meaning it's open to a wider range of players but they're not top-tier they'll be cool for early game. There's some great players in that list but not true world beaters like Pele etc.

Selling them tonight for 220 and 330k tonight. Thinking we might get a boosted Shaw that could trouble Chilwells price.
Summer Stars 2 - Cavani looks great, as does Sterling and Chiesa. Neymar has some LW card who looks...bonkers. Rice and Jorginho showdown cards too. 95 Yerry Mina in Squad Battles with a strong link to SBC fodder.

It'll be the same game but with some better animations as it's built for next gen and the hardware is more powerful. Gameplay-wise, people will discover some exploits and they'll get patched over time.
I'd like it if they just nerfed chaining skills (which they tried to do in 21) because even 5* skillers don't spend 95% of the game doing skills and AI blocks need nerfing too.
Goalkeepers should be boosted as well.
I take it the Heros concept will now replace Icons, as they used to Legends before that.
As Raoul mentioned, some of those could be of great use in the early game to keep you moving nicely along their power curve.
This years game played mostly very well. The AI auto blocks need toning down a little. In such a way that you can get a block in but the ball still deflects into the opposite corner. Or at least has a chance to. The current meta of it's either a goal or complete block with nothing inbetween can be frustrating.
The skills also need to be reduced. I understand there's a "skill" to it, but if as they say, they want a more realistic football experience, they have to go. Ronaldinho was the best player at incorporating skills into real football and even he only did one, maybe two in any given possession.
Fuck.
When they had the daily tournament for qualifying I was never able to get in as I'd always fuck it up in the final as I'd just mentally collapse.
I think I got back into FUT right as that year was ending and never actually played one but it sounds like a nighmare.
Moving to a higher rank = "better version of a card" rather than "more spins at the casino" sounds kinda worse, but they're trying to move away from that model for fear of regulation. Fewer games is much better though - I could never be arsed playing 30 games but 20 is more manageable, especially if it's over 3 days.
Completed the Matthaus SBC this morning so can now sell my Cantona. Should leave me with ~700k after I packed and sold SS Kane last night, but the only real upgrades are Militao for Tapsoba and a better Alba, not sure it's worth it really
What I don't get about moving to 20 games is how that fits in with their nonsense e-sports structure. There'll be literally thousands of people with 20 wins each week.

They can control that with tighter matchmaking - probably 1/3 of those games are against people you're much better than
Timed matching sounds like a thing. Something like you can only find opponents every 10 minutes or whatever so everyone is searching for a game at the same time. If you miss the window, you have to wait another 10 minutes before the window opens again.
So my thoughts on the new changes.
Having to requalify every week is a bit of a pain in the ass. I think there was only me and @The Merse who used to smash the WL back in the day when it was 40 games and you had to do the knockout tournament.
What I will say is, the mode was harder then. If I played all 40 games, I could win 25 on your average week. Win average of about 63% When they knocked it back to 30 games and took out the tournament entry I would win 22/23 games and my win percent went up to about 73% That's a significant shift.
To Yevs point I will say that the removal of any Tom, Dick and Harry being able to shit their way to enough Rivals games to get in will average out the people looking for 20-0 finishes. Matchmaking will be much more competitive.
The way it works now is a bit daft. You have to play around 10 games for the matchmaking to properly kick in. I could play any given WL right now and reliably go 8-2 or better from those opening games. They'll just cut out that bit. It also adds a lot more emphasis on your losses. The top pros have all been using various methods to make sure they avoid each other on these weekend games too, so they should still be fine.
I guess this is all aimed at keeping players going during the week. I, myself, only tend to play to 14 wins at a weekend and then take time off until the next one. I also pick and choose which objective cards to go for or not.
They also used to offer free entry to weekend league a few times a year too.
I'm still waiting to see the official explanation of everything they're doing before I judge it too much, but it seems they want to move away from the WL being a survival of the fittest/those with the most free time and make it ultra competitive.
