Watched Rififi today which is back on my IMDb top 250 attempts.

Decent film, pretty good actually, but not sure it warrants being on the list.

    5 to go.

    Autumn sonata
    Time of the gypsies
Neon Genesis evangelion - the end of evangelion
    Tangerines
    7 kogustaki mucize

Would be extremely impressed if anyone from TTH has seen, or heard of, any of them.

Tangerines might be just about watchable. The others...

I watched "I'm Thinking Of Ending Things" last night.

Terrible. Arty, farty, not as clever as it thinks it is, horse shit.

Haven't you been doing this for about ten years? Is it just the current top list, or the same one you started with?

The bastarding thing keeps changing. I’ve probably watched 500-600 films.

I could look back at the original list and see what I’ve done.

It’s definitely a pointless task. But I’ve started so I’m bloody well finishing. And lockdown when there’s piss all else to do is the time to try.

That post inspired me to put on the evangelion one on Netflix.

Absolutely no idea what’s happening as it appears to be the climax of an anime tv show with multiple episodes merged together.

From what I can tell though, the tv series is pish.

I watched Spirited Away on Saturday night which is about the least me film you could find. Wonderful and escapist. Bits of it felt oddly familiar so I don't know if I saw it years ago, perhaps I did, but if so I couldn't remember much at all.

I just watched Jackass Number Two, possibly for the first time since it came out, and Jesus Christ it’s funny. Honestly makes the first film look like rejected footage, in comparison.

I watched Cabin in the Woods last night and I don't really know how I feel about it. it's got some decent ideas but I think maybe I'd have liked it better if the reveal that there's Something Else Going On hadn't come before the actual "teens getting murdered in the woods" bit started. Once you know there's another thing I'm just too busy trying to work out what that is, and then once that becomes obvious how they'll pay that off. Also they sort of sprint to the end after the 'twist' (not really the right word' is properly revealed.

The premise of Weekend at Bernie's is flawed. Surely the rigor mortis would have set in not long after he died and they wouldn't have been able to move him around.

Yeah apparently they wrote the screenplay and never thought it would get made due to issues. I'm glad they did make it but it has it's weaknesses. It is an inherent Whedon project that could benefit from less Whedon.

I don't know the premise of Weekend at Bernie's but rigor mortis isn't permanent.

They brought in James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy success to do a soft reboot.

I just watched Bad Boys For Life and honestly, having expected it to be a wank cash in, I was pleasantly surprised.

You are unfamiliar with DC being terrible at films I see. Also Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis reprise their roles from the ill fated original. DC have been making terrible decisions about their films for a while as evidenced by the Synder Cut shitstorm, Suicide Squad was just another shit nugget in the diarrhoea soup as they scrambled to catch up with Marvel.

    They haven't.

Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis and Jai Courtney are keeping their roles.

They rest of the cast is new though as they're using different anti-heroes.

Nah not even close. Full Monty probably shows more, and is also a far far superior film.

If it wasn’t for Matthew McConnaughy, nobody would ever talk about it. Well, besides Kevin Nash messageboards.

The Full Monty is still a great film.

I watched TT: Closer to the Edge over the weekend. Guy Martin seems a bit of a fanny but I really enjoyed it. Did anybody see it in 3D at the time? I imagine the helmet cam stuff could have been pretty ace if the 3D was done well.

I also rewatched Grosse Pointe Blank for the first time in ages since it's on Disney+ / Star and it's still fun.

Watched Dark Waters after the stroryville discussion and it's a solid 8/10. Ruffalo flawless as ever. Amazon Prime for those interested.

Tramps on Netflix is a very easy watch. Superb NRG between the two leads. One to watch with the Mrs.

I think it became more about the meme / 'challenge' than the film.

I didn't hate Bird Box but yeah, A Quiet Place is much better if you've not seen that.

You know lockdown is coming to an end when I finally am starting to be in the frame of mind to be able to watch a film again

Had to ease myself back in with a couple of Hollywood affairs in the form of Lion and Knives Out. The former was a solid emotional ride to cry at. The latter was incredibly dull, very surprised to see the positive reviews it got (was it cause it was about immigrants donning shit?). 40 mins too long too ofc.

Watched the first 20 mins of this Avengers film (I believe this is the original 2012 one) which has great reviews. The opening of these sorts of films is always the best part too but christ this was dull.

Watched The Big Lebowski tonight. Loved every previous Coens film I've seen. Did not get this one at all. Not one single bit. Wasn't sure if I was supposed to be laughing, tripping, appreciating, or what.

Maybe it just wasn't for me. Normally when I see the word 'slacker' in a blurb I move on to the next thing.

That is a cult classic. Great film! Some bits are a bit trippy, but that aside, still a brilliant film imo.*

The bit when they were scattering the ashes is up there with the hardest I've ever laughed at anything, but that aside I didn't really get it.

On the subject of cult comedies I don't get, Reddit always absolutely raves about Airplane but I thought it was about as funny as deep frying your own balls.
