    • They always serve hot curries with yoghurt, so you can temper the spice to your taste. Even if you order a madas or vindaloo, it doesn't have to be really spicy.

    I think there's a 40% chance they're winding me up.
It's just a shame that they didnt tell you it's a chipati. Japati for fuck sake.

From the couple of times I've been to India, I've never seen anyone have chips nevermind with curry.

Like, they could be good, but naan bread serves the exact purpose you describe, making poppadoms utterly pointless. It’s like going for a burger but having a pack of pombears before you order.
Just gotta stay strong and announce to the table that you’re saving your big crisp for your curry.

Might be a black country thing, like orange chips. And obviously these aren't people that are fresh off the boat, so I'm not sure what your travel blog has anything to do with it.

You mentioned their race and said "Samosas are meant to be served with ketchup." Which sounds like you're talking about it being the norm for Indian people. A trip to India seems pretty relevant.

Right. Obviously, the majority of British Indians that are in their 30s didn't travel over here directly from India. For fuck sake.

So you think the Indian food we get Birmingham mirrors what you'd get in New Delhi?

I don't really know why you're getting so bent out of shape over your own lack of clarity, but have at it.

Obviously I should have known when you were talking about Indian culture, you meant Indian culture in Walsall.

Why would someone have a chipati over a keema naan? It doesn't make sense. The latter is amazing and is effectively a meat sandwich on the side of your main meal.

One of the curry houses in Birmingham used to do a lunchtime meal deal that was just a curry whacked on top of a Naan. It was great.

Rice (whilst still great) comes bottom of the four main carbs.

Potato > bread > pasta > rice > every other carb source in the world > starving to death > Couscous.

I'm up for a forum invasion if we can find a rice > bread enemy.

Rice is infinitely better. It's a perfect marriage. Bread is messy and invariably ends up dominating the mouthful. Fine for mopping up at the end but that's about it. Parathas have gone unmentioned here and are the king of Indian breads.
