    La Liga Broadcasting Rights

So THE HOME OF FOOTBALL pretty much only shows some Premier League games now, having just lost La Liga to the company that owns LUFC (lol!). Apparently they only had to pay £18million per year. He wants to air it on Netflix or something I read.

Pretty shambolic but it would be good if they could do some sort of Football Italia remake, as it smacks of how that all came about.

How much is cable nowadays? $100? That's how much Netflix and the like will end up costing sooner or later.

Nah that's not right, it would put people off if they had to pay more for things they don't watch, that's literally the whole point of these packages.

Everyone that subscribes to Netflix is already paying for loads of things they don't watch.

Sport coverage ending up being internet-only is the stuff of nightmares.

I have no idea who these chancers are, but would be up for having sports integrated in Netflix. BT Sport is ok, as an additional service.

I would also like to have sports in Netflix, since I don't have access to any sort of TV programming. Reminds me that I will need to figure out a way to watch the World Cup.

No one will watch anything like this on Netflix.

The smart sporting organisations now are cutting out the middle man. I pay about £40-50 a year for the entire baseball season (which is a lot) live and on demand on MLB.TV. F1 are doing something similar in many countries. I think NFL have something similar as well.

Another point to make is that live TV figures (in general, not necessarily for sport) simply aren't in decline in the way tech giants want them to be. Most people watch only BBC/ITV live and nothing else whatsoever.

The NFL version (gamepass) is a massive pile of shit. Does the baseball one work ok?

The baseball one is dreamy, to be honest. Real time stats at the bottom, choice of TV/radio commentary for home and away teams, never yet had it break down on me.

Mine is already internet only, works just fine. Terrible for advertisers and anyone who wants to make money from advertising but I'm not hugely concerned with that.

Ooh my Lord. Imagine if you could do that with Soccer.

    360 player cams? Live telemetry?

Internet still isn't reliable. I don't want to have to worry about keeping a stream running at 720p. It's just a system far more prone to not working. The worst bit though is that streams are invariably at least 10 seconds behind satellite pictures.

For every great MLB streaming service there's an awful NHL one.

Get a baseball thread on the go. There are enough games to justify it. And if nothing else it can serve as a place for people to see that gif of Baez tagging someone while celebrating the throw.

Here is what I have at the moment as I've stuck Twins and Blue Jays on in the background for some reason:

    Toggle Spoiler

I can switch between the live games along the top (then within that switch between commentaries if I need to hear a particular shade of bias), the picture itself is crystal clear HD which also goes into full screen well if I want, on the score thing at the bottom I can click on each inning to watch it 'as live' from there, and the player stats are similarly 'as live'.

Baseball is particularly good at this stuff, probably because it dribbles on and there is so much of it (no real AND IT'S LIVE factor), but there's no reason other sports couldn't do similar.

They all have something in common which is a high brain factor and the fact that they unfold over a long period. These things appeal to me. Tennis and boxing are dull as fuck.

Cycling fits both the "brain factor" and the taking forever for anything to happen. Get on it so that we can discuss the polka dot jersey competition while the plebs go crazy over the World Cup.

I dabbled in cycling about ten years ago but as a spectator sport it's just hopeless. Almost as bad as yachting.

My mum and dad used to love speedway to the point that in the days of wedding receptions not going on until everybody wishes they were dead they actually went on their wedding day.

I went once in Glasgow despite motorsport not really being my thing and actually quite enjoyed it but it helped that it was really close and was only won on the last race.

It's difficult to watch on the telly, but if you went to Guildford Flames matches you could take some binoculars and write everything down like a train spotter.

In fairness, soccer (football) is one of the most boring spectator sports going most of the time and we all seem to like it, so nobody should really be throwing stones at the rest of them.

Now here's something I've just remembered. My brother was roped in to present some sort of award before a Coventry Whatevers match (presumably because he has an army uniform), went out onto the ice in army boots, and stacked it in front of what he says was 3,000. I've never been more regretful about failing to attend west midlands ice hockey.

Ah, so it's because of betting?

Obviously dodgy pirate streaming is shit and unreliable but proper legit streaming with the proper infrastructure behind it should be fine. I watch BT Sport through their website sometimes and it's good.

It's incredible these days. I remember when browser streams barely existed and you had to use Sopcast connected to a 4:3 stream in Chinese. Now it's over to Soccerstreams and it's basically Netflix. The 2-3 minute delay is very annoying as someone that can't not refresh Twitter while I'm watching a match.

Do you donate to the site? If so does it stop the buffering?

I've been offered tickets to the last 3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Cardiff but it looks awful.

? I use AceStream. Just go to redddit.com/r/soccerstreams and the top link works fine. I've got a fiber connection though so it's basically made for me with it's p2p nature. I also support Arsenal and only watch their matches and we're the internet team so maybe I just get better service because of that.
