I have looked into the future gentlemen and it will present itself to us in the form of Niels Nkounkou. I shit you not when I say he has the delivery of TAA, the power of Mendy and the dribbling of Robbo, it's outrageous. Digne will be switched to a CB by the end of the season.

Someone having fun with his Wiki

In his second start for Everton, Nknounkou was absolutely boss again and a constant threat down the left hand side. If only he was right-footed eh. Mad that Leighton retired and we still have the two best left backs in the Prem.

Is he playing at left back tonight and Digne in the centre with Keane?

I wonder what’s going on at livescore who have Iwobi as a centre back with Keane.

It's not the obvious comparison you would make if - IF - you wanted to be racist (they aren't even found in black countries), so is being compared to an animal racist in itself? Because you often see Harry Maguire being compared to a wardrobe.

The level of your signings compared to the ‘buying any random old shit for 20m’ when you were in the championship is immense.

Yeah, we spunked a lot of money on some real shit the first season in the Championship. Became better when Bruce came in (Hogan aside) and then Smith took us forward further in the January (Mings).

We had Tony Xia for two years after Lerner and couldn't pay the tax bill at the end of his second season. Fortunately bought out by Wes Edens and Naseef Sawiris, because Xia was taking us down the leagues, maybe even under.

We're as well run now as I've ever known though.

Not my own lot but we're tinpot enough a.league that we're all in for everyone's European ties. Some Faroe lot in Oriel in the last round. As poor as they've been this season they should be winning that.

Yeah 2011. Dundalk have gotten there since in 2016, managed a draw away to AZ Alkmaar and beat Maccabi Tel Aviv at home. Only lost 2-1 twice to Zenit St Petersburg in it too. That campaign is the main reason Kenny is international manager now.

I'm still annoyed we sold you Martinez instead of kept him. He isn't the second coming of Gordon Banks or anything but he is so confident and catches everything, makes a massive difference.

Is this the last year smaller leagues teams will be allowed in the Europa League? I'm not sure of your coefficient, maybe it's high enough, but I think that's us done.

The new (middle tier) Europa League will be the worst comp imaginable. The Conference League will be way better to be in.

Surely that's a black hole for cash for those middle teams who will have to spend loads on travel for probably a relatively poor TV return?

I guess there's the carrot of a CL place for winning it which may make that worthwhile, but it's now just like a shadow Champions League filled with middling teams and then dumping the 8 CL losers onto the 16 qualifiers to make a watered down load of shite. At least currently the CL losers are only 8/32.

In the Conference League, you'll still have the chance of a nice big away day if you're Shamrock Clovers Utd, but mostly it'll be more winnable affairs or at least ties you can think about winning.

I'm always amazed Jones seems to have gone relatively under the radar in age group football. He's a much better prospect than someone like Brewster.

That game last night was ridiculous though. I've no idea what division Lincoln are in, but when you've got some lower league carthorse centrehalf being asked to take the ball off the 'keeper and play out from the back against, probably, the best pressing team in the world, how do you imagine that is going to end up? Pepball has broken everyone's minds. Most Premier League teams (looking at you here Brighton) screw themselves over with the out from the back ethos on a fairly regular basis so how lower league Lincoln thought it was going to be anything other than disastrous is beyond me.

Age group football is a complete false economy. Yes, the very best will be clear (like Foden), but otherwise selecting a team from a 2 or 3 year age band to play against their peers is very different to the criteria used in senior football. It's the same in all sports, actually. You tend to get flat track bullies in the age group game who get found out when they come up against experience, whereas someone like Jones has different qualities that are better suited to senior football.

A lot of it is down to attitude. I look at Hudson-Odoi and think there's someone who is literally only interested in money, whereas Fikayo Tomori, for example, has a great and visible hunger about him.

Process guys and outcomes guys. The process guys tend to make it, in the end.
