Looking at an '07 Z4 2.5L soft top for a weekend car. There's fuck all up here, only in the sweet lands of Her Majesty's Kingdom.

Just taken the Skoda Kamiq out for a test drive engine so quiet it's like driving a electric motor lovely car.

Test drove the petrol 1 litre 109bhp version was incredibly fast drove around for about an hour and came back averaging 51mpg.

Amazed how silent the engine is had to double check it was actually running a few times.

Mrs hates how the front end looks though and feels its to low to the ground so that's put an end to getting that.

So it's back to trying the new Mokka out for a run or having a look at the 2022 Nissian Quashqui?!?

Think I'll file for a divorce and get the Skoda.

The previous Qashqai was almost universally panned by people who know their cars (despite its incredible popularity with Joe Public). I've not experienced the new one myself but apparently it's a big improvement.

New Mokka is ridiculously expensive for what it is.

    Bought it.

2010 Z4, retractable hard top in black, 2.5SI, 65k miles.

    £8,000. Wonderful machine. Crisis complete.

    Spooky.

My dad has a similar z4 as his spare ‘fun’ car and I was in it for the first time yesterday.

It’s pretty noisy with the roof down, but it’s quite a cool thing. Not sure I’d ever buy one like MJ has done.

I’m not judging. I was trying to convince
My dad to buy a Porsche for similar reasons (and so I could liberate it).

His “sensible” option was a brand new z4.

Retractable hard top definitely the way to go. Anyone with those fabric looking topped convertibles is a wrongun.

Have put a deposit down on this XKR-

I've had humdrum saloons since selling the Boxster in 2017 so time to go back to something more interesting.

Will no doubt regret the fuel bills, initially sampled with the drive I'll have back from Devon...

Man posts picture of sports car [performance vehicle] but worries about the mileage he's going to be getting.

You ask him why he didn't go for something sportier, but tell him not to worry unless he's doing 'normal miles' [is this a Scotch thing?], which, presumably he will be. Just read weird.

Unless you think he should have bought a Caterham or something then a GT is as much of a sports car as anything else weaseling its way into the category by dint of not having a roof or whatever criteria you are applying.

With Japanese you expect affordable to buy (relative to competitors), cheap replacement parts and excellent reliability. Weirdly the Legacy (and Subaru generally) doesn’t seem to fall into any of those categories. I’d avoid if possible, not because it’s shit (it’s not) but because you don’t get the usual high points of a Japanese made car. I’d only look to Subaru if I wanted a WRX for a bit of fun.

This is replacing an XJ and I already have a Clio 182 Trophy.

I had originally intended to get a Z4 Coupé but nothing had come up that fit the bill. There's a black XRR for sale in St. Andrews which I test drove last week and after getting a sample of a V8 again it's too tempting to turn down.

Fiesta, Galaxy, Focus, and SMax joining the Mondeo on the scrap heap. Cars are going to be so shit when they’re all electric school-run SUV’s.

There's not a lot of new stuff coming out that has real appeal any more. They'll be really good at the mundane, day to day shite but there's not much interesting that's vaguely affordable.

Far too many people get genuinely excited to own a Tesla. They look like shit and it’s so common now that it’s not even a status symbol anymore.

They’re so badly built they’re on the opposite end of status. Basically just outing someone’s as lucky to have money despite being a clown.

I work with a few Tesla owners. I know one of them pays nearly £600 a month for the privilege and that was with £5000 down.

Since my 206 was sent away to be cubed I've been getting Fiestas through the privilege scheme, no idea what the equivalent option will be in a few years when I swap my new one back in but I don't fancy having a full electric car for a while yet if that's what they're pushing.

The Kia EV6 has a pretty funky breadvan shape, but they're all fundamentally boring aren't they. Unimaginative too, seeing as the lack of an engine and a transmission tunnel opens up all sorts of design possibilities that nobody is utilising.
