I did my toilet roll stash weeks ago, so no need to worry there, but now online teaching equipment is all gone. Might have to start looting soon.

I’ll actually miss my weekly shop. Would have always went first thing, stuck a coffee on the trolley, ambled around nice and relaxed, and got a sausage sambo on the way home. Considering there was at least 500 outside it at 7am this morning, God knows what it’s going to be like on a weekend morning.

Not the same situation as you, but I've had to put a contingency plan in place for my kids for if and when schools do close. They'll love me when they see the timetable I've drawn up for them...(not that many/any of them will stick to it). Also, leading teaching resource websites like twinkl and testbase are gearing up for home schooling.

As for bog roll, a pharmacy between here and work literally had piles of it going up to their roof when I drove past yesterday. I think they were taking the piss.

We do our 'big shop' on a Friday. It was heaving today and plenty of shelves were empty. Tomorrow will be manic; I hate food shopping at the weekend and it reminds me how much I detest people in general.

I love it but only first thing on a Saturday for the reasons I’d said above. I just wouldn’t go if I had to go when all the other cunts were there or if I had to go to a Lidl or Aldi.

    Definitely skipping it this week.

Aye, anything close to midday is tricky. I've got mine out the way early. Mainly because, if I'm away for a week, I want nothing in that'll spoil.

I went to a big Sainsburys after dinner and they seemed to be stocking the toilet paper back up (slowly).

I got 3 packs of 9. There were a few more of the 9s and quite a lot of the 4s though.

I also live right next to a Tesco express and every time I went in there last week they had stacks though so shouldn't have to worry.

I don't really do Twitter, so I don't know, but his books are just one massive rant about everything.

I've got a definite mild temperature now I think. If it's still here/any worse tomorrow I will be self-isolating. Probably a cold but tbh I wouldn't mind getting it over and done with.

And thinking about that strategy, the really grim bit is that they're knowingly exposing it to people who have underlying health conditions they're unaware of.

Depending on how long the slide into unconsciousness before death takes, this could be an absolutely horrible way to go.

Alone. In a hospital. In a bed if you're lucky. Watching Mrs Brown's Boys.

Yeah, realised that was probably what you meant after I posted and read your post again. I thought maybe you were being more geographically specific and I was gonna say I'm in Belfast these days rather than Ballybackwards.

Although even then it shouldn't be that bad, I hope.

I mean, it makes some sort of sense when you consider the Chinese model of locking shit down has nowhere to move because, if they open for business, they're open to more infections again. More nations are reporting cases and the world likes to travel. France, Germany and Spain are on our doorstep and they've not saw fit to close borders. The smaller nations around them have.

You need to be on top of your shit when it comes to monitoring, though. And you really, really have to keep on top of the mortality rate.

There’s probably very little point in us trying to slow it if you lot are actively trying to spread it unless we shut up shop for a while.

I thought our lot were bad but Johnson is just blatantly looking to bury as many pensions as possible.

Seriously, tell everyone you know with underlying health problems to isolate now.

This may well be the right call, I'm warming to the insanity/brilliance of it, but it's going to kill a lot more people in the short term than most places further down the line with it than us.

It's this century's version of Turing cracking Enigma but not being able to alert all bombing targets.

They're basing it off experience with other coronaviruses. You don't get infected with the same strain but you're at risk of relapsing from something else like colds or flu.

I don't know if it was reported on your news but today Michelle O'Neill said we should be closing schools now because down south are doing it while Arlene Foster maintains we have to follow the UK government and not do it yet so it's become a fucking unionist/nationalist issue.

    This fucking place.

    It will either be;

    a) you catch it once, then you're immune.

    Or

    b) It evolves quickly and there'll be a new strain each winter.

We obviously won't know until next winter and hopefully there's a vaccine by then.

Foster was complaining that we didn’t brief her when we were closing our schools. To coin a local phrase for her, she can away and fuck herself.

Seconding the advice about going to off the beaten track convenience stores for supplies that have been panic bought elsewhere: Sainsburys on Manchester Piccadilly station has all the big panic buy staples in spades.

Sounds like this plan goes way beyond Boris Johnson's intellectual capacity. We'll be lolling our way around the (depleted) country whilst the rest of Europe are spreading it around like wildfire.

Is it not just the first stab at “we have to be different now we’re out” and not be seen to be doing anything in line with the rest of the EU?

Like, if the rest of Europe was doing what you are, then you’d be doing what we are.

Panic buying in Sainsburys wasn't the best idea. Only the really expensive shit left. And no pills or toilet rolls.

People are also too predictable with their panic buying. Having got pasta and rice slowly up to the max a couple of weeks ago, I've been going in on things like tinned fruit (which is weirdly untouched everywhere), peanut butter, Nutella, porridge, dried apricots, filled pasta (good best before on that) and, of course, cake.

Frozen pizzas also in the freezer to capacity.
