Single garages attached to houses are categorically not for cars.

Need at least a double with an automatic door to even think about putting a vehicle in there.

I have a garage but this house was built in the 50s for much smaller cars so you'd have trouble getting a modern car into the garage past the corner of the house. And then have trouble getting out of your car once it's in the garage.

The driveway is shared with nextdoor too (some of them have fences down the middle but ours doesn't) and it's too narrow for two modern cars together. Doesn't help my nextdoor neighbour drives a big SUV thing but he's lived here for decades and he's a nice old fella so I don't kick up a fuss.

Two of my three cars are in the garage. The truck lives outside. It wouldn't fit inside the garage, I think.

    A nespresso machine.
    An air fryer.
    A standing desk.
    An under-desk treadmill.

I am going to be so fucking healthy and productive this year.

These aren't actually new year things, I'd been planning on getting them all for a while. I'm just taking advantage of the "sales" to get them now. Plus, stuff arriving is something to look forward to in this bleak month.

    The WalkingPad C2.

There's so fucking many out there and so many weird sounding brands on Amazon, it's all very confusing. They at least seem to be half-reputable and from what I read they're owned by Xiaomi who at least make decent phones.

I'd assumed an under the desk treadmill was one that you could use like a normal one (albeit obviously a bit crap compared) that folded away neatly under a desk. If it's something else I think I'm out.

Nothing on you, I just didn't know they existed. I don't like standing desks let alone treadmills but I can see the logic to both. Hopefully AI-fuelled redundancies will come before you hit your weight targets.

You use it with a standing desk and walk while you work.

A few of the old timers in my office have standing desks on account of their age/service-related back issues, but one of the twenty-something new starters is fishing for one because she just sits like a sloppy retard and complains about back pain.

That treadmill setup is a bit too close to dystopian sci-fi scenarios for my liking. I'd be quite up for being on a call with someone who was also doing it and we could pretend we're in the West Wing.

I get fuck all steps in when working from home though (I wfh 99% of the time). I started tracking it for a while to see how bad it was and it could easily be less than 1000. I started making a conscious effort to hit 5000 a day (not much I know but at least it's something and it's enough for a health boost).

I do weights most days at lunchtime and then getting the steps in takes up time in the evening. Walking and then cooking and eating dinner and showering will end up taking about two hours out of my evening. If I can get my steps in while working and save some of that evening time, it'll be worth it to me.

What is ocurring in those critical evening time hours that has you contemplating safeguarding it all by simultaneously pissing on yourself with your Huel urea whilst walking on a treadmill staring into a spreadsheet?

Not much at the minute, that's the point. I probably need to find more social activities to do given the working from home. Or maybe I'll just go to bed earlier and get better sleep instead of staying up too late because I'll have had enough "me time" earlier in the evening. Or maybe I'll walk in the evening too and get even more steps in. Who knows, the possibilities are endless.

1,000 steps is rookie numbers, I can do as little as 300 in a day when working from home. It's bad mmmkay.

They don't mean nothing. More steps > fewer steps.

Not going to happen. I'm not an early riser. Nor could I run for 40 minutes at the minute either.

I sit on my arse at my desk for eight hours a day (not including my lunch break). If I can use maybe two of those hours for walking while working, it'll be a big improvement.

Not if the more steps are done at a much slower pace than fewer at a much quicker pace.

I think it doesn't make much difference to the calories you burn and weight you lose, but walking quickly is definitely more effective for other health benefits.

The fewer steps at a faster pace aren't getting done though, is what I'm saying.

Like I'm pretty sure when I calculated it using some advanced science boffin online tool, I was apparently burning p much the same calories doing the 4 mile round trip to work at a leisurely 2.75 mph instead of the 3.75 I usually aimed for. Obviously more time efficient to get a sweat on though.

A Ninja Kettle, the wife wanted one when our kettle broke. We opted for the cheaper water dispenser option which has been wank and she has kept complaining about her brews tasting weird so posh kettle it is.

We have their all in one (air fryer, slow cooker etc), coffee machine, blender and grill/smoker. Can’t argue with the quality of any of it to be fair.

It's time for the TV/Broadband to be redone as the contract is up next month. Currently paying an £80 a month(went up to 95 due to the O2 SIM) contract. For that I get the full works with Virgin. 1gig speeds, Sky Sports, TNT Sports, Sky Cinema, a Netflix standard account and an O2 sim with unlimited everything on.

I would ideally like to keep the Sports and something 500mg+ speed wise. Cinema and other TV channels no longer get used with Disney+, Netflix and me just being able to download movies.
Skys internet offering seems better(500mb for £32/m), however to add sports on, you also have to have the entertainment package first, which immediately increases the price by £46/m. Already we're at nearly the same price for what I've got now.

BT, even though I'm sure Sky piggyback their service, have said I can only get non-fibre internet here.

We did have a leaflet through the door the other week with a company offering us silly speeds(several times faster than my current) but I can't remember who they are.

It might have to be the old ring up and cancel expecting retentions to call be back with a good offer.

Virgin offered me a 'deal' of £86 for that package last week which I lolled at and instrucuted them to cancel. They came back yesterday with £70. At one point the other day they offered me TNT sports for £18 a month and when I said no they suddenly had a deal for £1 a month

Just keep your nerve and the prices tumble.
