This could be a heretical thing to say, but I quite like the look of battered sprouts, and before I resume my annual campaign against pigs in blankets, the battered version of those look better as well.

I'm not doing the full argument again, but PiBs a) have a shit name and b) are too much of a good thing and unbalance the plate.

On their own I can just about accept them.

Jim you knob. You could always call them Kilted sausages, whether that makes you feel better or worse about them though, who's to say.

OK, I'll suggest this compromise: let's ditch the turkey, and just have six massive pigs in blankets as the main meat element of the Christmas dinner. That way you have a proper balanced plate but you people also get your pork-on-pork perversions sated.

In my house they were always called 'bacon rolls', and made with sausage meat and thick bacon rather than sausages and shit. I thought 'pigs in blankets' was an Americanism for sausage rolls until somebody offered me a wanky sausage coated in shit bacon. Anyway, you get some right shit ones out there, so maybe the 'bacon rolls' set an unfair standard for me in life.

Pigs in blankets is marginally less shitty than devil's on horseback but both are shit names for wankers (and oysters are a bit crap all round). They were always just sausages in bacon in our house.

I made this last night and it's absolutely banging (leftovers even moreso today).

I used the recipe from his book which is the same but calls for double the amount of shallots, and I'd recommend doing the same; halved and cooked for a while. The whole thing takes forever tbh but it's worth it.

That sounds good. Might give it a go.

I bought the Bosh cookbook with the aim of doing Veganuary this year.

    Veganuary. Fucking hell.

Anyway, we bought this yesterday and it seems pretty great. It can cook a whole chicken In about half an hour.

We made Chicken Shish Kebabs in it last night and they were superb. Going to make yoghurt tomorrow.

I'll have to eat extra meat in January to make up for the hashtaggers.

Making a curry as a single man is so tedious. Absolutely loads of preparation and cooking for one meal and some leftovers. Nah.

I’ve never defrosted a curry and had it be similar. Also I’d have to buy Tupperware and in a single male.

I tend to drink half a bottle of wine and listen to some podcasts. It's not so bad. And you just make a fuckton and eat if over the course of the weekend.

That PIB discussion was so shit. It's just a name and they're incredibly difficult to fuck up. They're obviously great.

My mum has gone veggie so we had nut roast on the table this year and it went really well with everything. It may have even been my favourite thing on the plate after pork and apple sauce.

My cousin asked me if I wanted to sponsor her for 'Dry January'. Putting aside the money going to a worthy cause, as I heroically did when saying no, you fucking what love?

What was the money meant to be going towards?

Never heard of people being sponsored for Dry January before. I thought it was just a way of trying to be a bit healthier after the excesses of December. That's all I'm gonna be doing Veganuary for, really. Hopefully lose a bit of weight too.

You get Curly Fries in Irish KFC's? You were fucking right to fight for independence based on that alone.

When I went to Prague (2006) we had a McDonald's a few times and they treat(ed) their main meals like Happy Meals, but instead of a shitty toy, you got a surprise side. These included Mozzarella bites on one occasion and nuggets on another. Curly fries pisses all over that.

Google isn't throwing up anything regarding curly fries.

I have just spotted that KFC in America sell this:

    https://www.kfc.com/menu/classics/pot-pie

Who the fuck would go to KFC and order a pie? Other than people from Wigan ofc.
