Gini is how you should be measuring this stuff anyway, 'poverty' is something you can parameterize however you want

It's designed to be unsolvable (like the gender pay gap toss). If I inherited a billion quid from some long-lost relative in America the minute it hit my account thousands of kids would tumble into poverty.

Just popped up on my phone that she's resigned. Was that not announced about a fortnight ago?

There was a great stat a while back about how every time Tony Blair makes a speech, 30 more kids drop below the poverty line.

Can anyone explain what the point of her announcing that she's going to resign in two weeks time?

Why not just resign today? Either way she stays as PM until there is a new Tory leader.

What is she supposedly going to accomplish in the next two weeks as leader of the conservatives that means she needs to stay on for a fortnight before they can crack with the leadership contest?

Probably to buy time for someone to car bomb Boris Johnson.

I was hoping for a Mark Henry style retirement speech where she hauls off halfway through and powerbombs Bojo through the despatch box.

PM Borris meeting Tronald would deserve all the #WhitePeople tags Twiiter can throw at it.

    Christ.

Come back Blair, you can bomb whoever you want.

If Boris Johnson can end up as leader of your country then there's probably something to be said for having just let the Germans have it. There are not all that many thicket cunts walking this planet.

But even if she resigned today she'd still be PM for several weeks.

It'll happen, it'll get voted down and then we're no further forward. Or it gets voted through and it was all a long ploy just to move May out the door. 3 fucking years, lads. We've got more of this shit to come.

Oh, well, in that case, of course not.

I genuinely don't know where we go from here. Without a general election and a complete annihilation of Tories and Labour I still can't see Brexit getting anywhere close to getting through.

May may have gone, but her 'deal' is still dogshit that nobody/not enough people liked or would vote for.

And on that note, a resignation effective in 3 weeks is ridiculous.

I'm convinced no deal is actually the only way to leave, but he won't get that through. Hell, I'm not even convinced he'll be the next PM - he doesn't have the stomach to sort this shit out.

He's evens, which is surely arse covering from the bookies. If they genuinely believed he was going to be he'd be a lot shorter than that.

At this point I'd fancy a few hundred on 'nobody' were it an option. Seemingly it isn't though.

If he doesn't ask Europe for another six months cocking about time it just happens at the end of October, so then it's on his party to crash the plane and/or destroy what remains of the system stopping it.

Isn't no deal less popular in the commons than May's deal was? He won't have the balls/be able to ride that through.

It's not balls you need. It's numbers. We simply don't have enough politicians that are anti-Europe enough to push for a no deal. Politically, we love Europe's money. Even Farage wants a deal.

That's my point. Without the numbers (support) he'd have to go it alone, which would take balls he doesn't have.

I don't even think he'd want the gig of PM at this point. The man's a coward.

Gove is the comedy option, and also the best option. Can't imagine the faithful will vote for anyone who isn't Boris, although I'd have Leadsom as a dark horse.

I'd like Leadsom just for the cunt factor. She'd definitely end Tory rule for at least a decade.

He's got a lot of his own people and are there any politicians left who are liked by anyone other than their own people?

Doesn't sound like strong enough grounds for me. He gets results, like no one has (relatively) since Blair.
