    Sleep Schedule

Is in ribbons. Tiredness isn't really kicking in till 1-2am and that's factoring in a 8am start on some days. Anyone else struggling to find a sensible pattern?

Dreadful. I don't want to go to bed ever (but fine getting up in the mornings).

Life basically isn't happening at the moment so I've learned to accept this as normal.

Could have kept it in the HAY thread or even the mothership itself because it's another direct and extremely concerning consequence of this shambles.

Fuck with people's family, friends, relationships, socialising, instigating, diet, exercise, the whole lot, but nothing, NOTHING will destroy a man as effectively as fucking with his sleep. Everyone is fucked and fucked royally.

On a personal note, I've found a real drive to stay on top of exercise and diet recently which has kept me in control of sleep. It was slipping in December badly and boy did I feel the effects.

Mine is fine. It's tougher to get out of bed because it's cold and dark but nothing really has changed overall.

With the time I had off over Xmas though I definitely got closer to my natural sleep pattern which is bed around 2am and up about 11am. Felt great, can't wait for retirement

Mine just shifted two hours, although I wouldn't mind getting my head down earlier.

I can't really be fucked with exercise and I'm not drinking so I'm finding it a little bit harder to get to sleep, but nothing an audiobook won't fix.

The most noticeable thing, and I had this in LD 1.0 as well, is that my dreams have become incredibly vivid and utterly mental. Brain's substitute for social interaction perhaps?

My pattern was 3/4am until 1/2pm over Christmas which was great. Now it’s back to 2am/9am which is pretty dreadful. No matter how long I sleep, I’ll never not be groggy waking up before half 10

You wanna do the heater on 30 mins before your alarm. Wake up before the alarm 97.8% of the time.

I've just become accustomed to a bit more sleep which is going to annoy me if I have to go back to an actual commute.

I have 2 kids, so my sleep schedule has been ruined for a while now. We’ve finally got our 1yo daughter sleeping properly through the night now, so I’m getting in a decent 11-6 roughly, but I actually feel more tired and groggy than I did when I was getting up during the night.

Key for me is getting up when the alarm goes off (assuming our other early waking child hasn’t already got me up). A 30-45 minute snooze absolutely kills me until around lunchtime for some reason.

I run 3 days a week, roughly 30km in total. I can’t say I notice any better or worse sleep on those days though.

My sleep schedule has and always will be fucked.

Doesn't help that I struggle to fall asleep and I feel groggy no matter when I wake up.

My sleep schedule is one of the few parts of my life that has improved since Covid kicked off. I think it's something to do with working from home (which I generally dislike aside from this aspect of it, actually) and knowing there's less fucking around involved in the morning. I just seem to drift off better.

My sleep schedule has always been terrible, the Covid measures seem to have intensified the phases when insomnia hits really hard though. At the end of December I had nights where I didn't get more than 2-3 hours.

This helps. I take 3mg shortly before I go to bed, then read a bit and usually I get sleepy after 30-45 minutes.

I've also been prescribed Zolpidem for especially terrible nights. It knocks me out pretty reliably, but seems to go hand in hand with side effects ranging from drowsiness to major depressive episodes the following day, so I think I'll be staying away from that in the future.

I've tried sleep medication but they become non-effective within a week for me.

I've been dropping off to sleep fine but the last couple of days, I've been royally knackered. Looking forward to sleeping in on Sunday for the first time in a couple of months.

I’ve had severe insomnia for years and corona has turned out to be neither a boon nor a rip. Same as before. Have a nice day

Do you suffer from anxiety or anything similar?

And have you tried any herbal remedies or relaxation methods before bed? It can't be good resorting to drugs to get yourself to sleep.

Yes to all of the above, including meditating every evening. I'm in therapy and on anxiety meds, which is why I'm hesitant as well about taking even more drugs. Melatonin is harmless, apparently. But sometimes proper sleeping medication is the only thing that works.
