In those cases just do a credit card chargeback and call it a day.

I put a set of table and chairs up on Facebook marketplace for free. Specifically said in the description it was collection only.

I've got some guy getting arsey with me because:
    a) he only wants the chairs and I said I'd rather it all goes together as I imagine someone is less likely to take a table on its own.
    b) I won't deliver the chairs to him (I don't have a car they'll fit in so I can't even if I wanted to), which is very unreasonable of me given he doesn't drive.

    Lol.

Put it on for a small fee to eliminate the ball bags then when they turn up to collect just give them it for free.

Having gone to that effort would you not just take the fiver?

But yeah, free to take ball bags can be annoying.

Surprised the Mrs with gig tickets for her and her sister to go and see some guy they like in Manchester. Even with Priority they sold out super fast.

There's no late train back here so I got a hotel room for them. 3 days ago they "upgraded" the venue. Pain in the ass trying to move them to somewhere else, but not too far away from the new venue.

They've just messaged to say they've yet again "upgraded" but now it's all the way out by Old Trafford. I've just checked and that sold out pretty much instantly too. Do I bother trying to swap it all about again or are they going to give it yet another "upgrade"

Its pretty damn easy to get to Old Trafford via Met so I'd just leave it mate.

Car insurance renewals trying to rip you off.

Admiral have just tried to double my monthly payment, so I've called them to cancel, only to be confronted by a Yank named Chantal.

I'm assuming she must live here, because the alternative is that they've opened their contact centre in America. Which would be insanity. Because absolutely nobody wants to listen to that accent.

Tiktok. It doesn’t really fuck me off, just boggles my mind. One of my wife’s mates sent her a video ‘songs that are 20 this year’ or words to that effect, and it had some Kerrang classics blasting out her phone. Except the video was some bloke sat in his bedroom filming himself switching between posing with rock hands, mouthing the lyrics out of sync or pointing at comments he’d added to the video. And seemingly people sit and watch this kind of thing? If it wasn’t an absolute chronic waste of time making that video (I’ll be honest I’d rather read a list of said songs or, even better, a quick medley with clips from each of the music videos), there are actually people who sit and watch someone… doing nothing? Have people really got that much spare time that they’re happy to waste hours of their week watching nonsense on their phones?

    I hate people.

TikTok is both an app for kids and an app that no parent should be letting their kid anywhere near. Adults that use it are retards. No offence to Mrs Baz, obvs.

I thought you'd be all in on Tiktok to be honest, Baz. I still think the theory that it's a chinese weapon designed to cripple western children's attention span has legs.

None taken, she doesn’t use it. She was just sent a link by someone who does.

I don’t know many who do tbh, but one lad occasionally sends a TikTok link in the group chat and I’m yet to click on one.

Not much to tell. I was on the top deck, heard a smash and then the driver pulled up. The shot went clean through two windows on the bottom deck.

Tradespeople. Been through various builders/plumbers/cunts for various jobs through various channels. The hit-rate for being mugged off is eye-watering.

The latest episode is wanting someone to come move the washing machine from the kitchen into a former boiler cupboard.

    This involves:

    - Drill hole through back wall to enable electric socket in kitchen
    - Drill 2 x holes in side wall to bathroom to run the waste and water supply to the washing machine
    - Run new pipework from cold supply under the sink to cupboard
    - Cut into sink waste (old school copper pipe) and fit pipework for washing machine and drain off

I got a couple of quotes, 1 guy said £400 after showing him some vids of the job. The other company said £100 call out-fee and then £99 per hour (likely to take around 2 hours after only being explained the job on the phone). I go with the latter, 2 geezers turn up for 5 mins, explain the above with regards to what the job involves and that it's going to need about half a day's work and they'll go away and give me a quote. Quote comes back for £780.

Thought I'd got away with just telling them to do one on the phone but they've just sent me an invoice for the £99+VAT call out.

Our bathroom renovation is getting quoted about £5-7K for labour. The labour won't need more than 1 man so I'm going to see if I can put that sum towards training myself up as a plumber instead. Fucking state of it all.

This is definitely Tony Blair's fault, with his mental idea that 50% of people were academically bright enough to go to University and that being a skilled tradesperson was somehow a bad thing. Hence the demand for them now far outstripping the supply.

And then we effectively told all the plumbers and other tradesmen we did have from the EU to fuck off home.

I got a plasterer in the other month to price something up, which I figured I could have done myself but since it was caused by our roof issues I thought I would consult a professional since I would only be paying a small share of it. He said he would do it for his day rate, but, having quizzed me on how 'handy' I was, just wrote me a list of what to buy and what to do with it. Nice one.

Yep, that has not helped too. In fairness to Blair when he went down the Uni route so hard I guess he thought we'd always be in the EU and could ponce cheap foreign tradesman labour forever.

In actual reality all of the politicians were falling over themselves not to tell European migrants to fuck off, and ended up allowing twice as many who they thought lived here to settle. A few of them went home during the pandemic and never came back, presumably because their own countries are increasingly wealthy, so if we want to suppress wages going forward we'll have to fish elsewhere.

Cars, innit. Nothing new but since moving to the heart of the battleground where the symphony of chaos and conflict between motorists and cyclists surrounds me, it's apparent just how much of a sewage humanity finds itself in.

There's petitions, meetings, all sorts about ULEZ this, parking restrictions that, LTNs here, cycling lanes there. A load of gammons/Giggles' feel so strongly about their right to exhaust-fuck their useless combustion engines that it's kept the fucking Tories in place for a poor bunch of cunts today.

The irony is cycling in these parts is a quicker, more efficient mode too. And with e-bikes, it's not even physically demanding.

We must still be decades away from full pedestrianisation and cleaning up these hellhole cities but the fact there's serious waiting lists for cycling storage just shows how backwards we are.

The car is very much a left-right issue isn't it. The right enjoy freedom of the individual to move where and when he pleases. The left prefer some kind of pre-planned utopia with restrictions on such freedoms determined by the self-appointed philosopher-kings. Good luck rolling back the combustion engine.

I appreciate my point ironically follows on from a complaint about why generic white man van feels he needs to charge me £99+VAT for attending a 5 minute inspection of my flat and my thoughts and prayers to him and his family as he is one of few who may actually have justification for crying about restrictions on cars but for the vast majority, there simply is no case. No one's actual freedoms are being affected by making their fat unwashed arseholes meet a bike seat.

I drive and own a personal car but I could give it up if appropriate provisions were made. Weather conditions would be a big factor for winter and the likes but during these months, there really is absolutely no reason why car journeys couldn't be replaced by the likes of an e-bike for virtually every single journey. Under my vision, car rental schemes like Zipcar can remain, priced with the appropriate margins to incentivise the dickheads to see the light.

Public transport and cycle routes are fully integrated in most of Frankfurt and just a much more pleasant way to travel. The Germans still love their motors though so it will still be the preferred way to travel.

I live and work in the suburbs of south west London / Surrey, which is about as well served by public transport as anywhere outside city centres, I would have thought. With that in mind, here's what Google Maps suggests for my commute home tonight:

Cycling of course a great option except when you consider that there are no cycle lanes along the route, no shower at the office and it's 15 times more dangerous than driving.

    The car is going nowhere.
