Doing curries with my family at the weekend. I'm gonna have another look through the Rick Stein book but I'm probably going back to the Raj beef curry or the chettinad chicken.

Anyone who is seriously into cooking curries should get this book. It’s not particularly westernised compared to TV / celeb chef offerings yet the recipes are simple enough. The kashmiri lamb is something I go back to all the time.

I had the Xiamen noodles, they were shit.
Yes.
The UK definition of pudding has grown more and more confusing to me over the years
A pudding is a soft spongey foodstuff, whether sweet or savoury, but it's also another word for 'dessert'.
I went to Coast to Coast yesterday because my friend had a fifty per cent off voucher, and I still felt ripped off. It was shit. No wonder these chain places are sinking.
They’re nearly all dreadful, although I do still have a soft spot for Pizza Express.
Making Korean pork this weekend. Unfff.
There’s a five guys here. Is this the one everyone agreed is good or Is that In and Out.
Can I order takeaway? I am at ‘just want to sit in my apartment and watch WWE network’ levels of lazy at this point.
Got the karahi gosht again
Not found any particularly good takeaway places on justeat here yet. Had a kebab earlier and it was so disappointing I'm tempted to order another one from somewhere else.
Is the consensus not that Five Guys would be pretty good at about 60% of the price?
So greasy. In N Out every day, I had a 3x3 yesterday for like $5.50 and the quality was so much better
I like Five Guys a lot but the price is far too hefty for what it is.
Just go Almost Famous, I fucking love that place. Unfairground and bacon fries, let me have a heart attack.
Love English people assuming all these American brands go to Europe. I went and got more tapas instead.
You're the one who brought it up.
And he is fucking English.
I brought up one of them. Telling me to go to Almost Famous instead isn’t helpful.
If somebody answers your question of "Is [thing] good" and the answer is "I prefer [other thing]" you can probably infer that they're not massively keen on the thing you're asking about.
I’m 90% sure Phonics is autistic.
Graphic Autist.
More importantly, he's in Madrid. I think.
Phonics is in Madrid? Why did he not say?
Has he tried some tapas yet?
How would he? Is he in Madrid or something?
Made some chilli today and decided to throw in chick peas, cannelloni beans, black eye beams and kidney beans.
Class.
I didn't realise Madrid had all those US burger chains, I'd assumed he was in New York or something.
Almost famous is great. Didn’t know it was a chain though. I only went to it before the old place burned down.
Edit: where about in Madrid are you Phonics? I might have some good places written up somewhere from when the missus used to live there for a bit.
almost food
McDonalds have started delivering from today
The last twice I've been in McDonald's, the scrum of deliveroo drivers waiting for massive orders has roughly tripled the waiting time.
It's something called ubereats they have doing it here.
Seems an odd choice to go for something as shite as McDonalds when you have a full range of places available from one of those delivery sites.
It's a rare occasion but sometimes only a McD's will do, and now I don't have to do traffic to get one either. If I could get someone to deliver fags and beer I'd be sorted now.
Tesco or Super Valu is all that does here but it's no use as you'd need to be ordering now for lunchtime Monday.
You're as big a nation of alkies as we are, surely Dial-a-Booze is rife there.
I really hate McDonald's snobbery.
When I used to use those sort of things it was normally just a guy who'd have stocked up on cheap booze then come in his car and sell it at a markup. It was never done by a proper off licence or anything. I doubt it was even a legit business.
