Well you have spent (according to figures posted in here) £156 million so far on Fabinho, Keita, Fekir and Shaqiri, all of whom are burning foreigner spots, and so far recouped £0, so it's only logic. I mean you could clear out the crap and have spots available for new defenders/midfielders, but where is the money coming from.

We have made profit in the market in the past 3 years if I remember rightly. It could be a case of finally whipping the cheque book out, FM style, after a few years of saving.

But it is more than likely someone will leave. There's still the likes of Markovic, Sturridge, Origi and Ings who are likely to be shifted on, but I don't see any of those players hitting double figures in a sale fee.

Might be missing something here but everyone we've bought so far is a midfielder.

I mean midfielders in the modern sense, other than Fabinho the rest are forwards really. Central defence and goalkeeper could also do with some sprucing up, I hear.

Still, beats Chelsea, where we haven't even announced our pre-season schedule yet.

Chelsea seems to be failing on all levels. People will blame the owner being sanctioned out of the country, but in years gone by any one of the Politburo would have poisoned the manager in the Wembley tunnel, and there was always the 'Dressing Room' keeping things in line. Now they've just got that woman going off notes Peter Kenyon left in his desk, and the current senior players probably haven't even met Roman Abramovich.

He was always going to be the first to leave and I really can't begrudge him that. I honestly have no idea what to expect from next season at this point. I haven't watched the Championship for 10 years and we've just got a new manager, so I'm interested to see who we bring in. We could just as easily do a Sunderland as a Newcastle.

Our only summer announcement so far has been to cancel our giant Nazi stadium plans. We'll end up panic buying another few dreadful Serie A players in August and finish 9th.

They players you have brought in so far, are all first choice except Shaqiri. I would think the likes of lallana, henderson and milners postions are all in question also. Having that many midfilders at your team is a good thing though. It pulled arsenal out of trophy hole they were in. Its how many years liveprool have been trophyless now. About 7?

Should have guessed which club would end up purchasing.

    https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2018...n-for-preston/

The Dubliner joins fellow Irishmen Greg Cunningham, Daryl Horgan, Alan Browne, Eoin Doyle, Sean Maguire, Kevin O'Connor, Adam O'Reilly and Andy Boyle at Preston, while future Ireland international Callum Robinson is also at the club. Robinson is still awaiting international clearance to play for Martin ONeill's side.

Shaqiri doesn't seem the type to accept a role on the bench. Is that a wrong impression?

Do Preston have some sort of agreement with the RoI?

I think Grayson had some sort of scouting setup here but it seems to be continuing with Neil. Burke is mad going there at the moment though, but there's no way Rovers can knock back €300k.

His only trick was literally running in a straight line and being tackled. Or being bullied for strength. One of the worst players I've seen play for us.

You could just play some of the good youth players you have on loan.

I had him down in my mind as an off-the-front-man bomber on. Does he do tackling as well/play in a two?

I've only seen him in internationals and those a couple of years back.

Isn't Fekir a midfielder as well? It seems like so far all they've signed is midfielders.

He's a number 10 no? Hate to say it but I really like all their signings this year, they've shopped that second tier really well. They've used the momentum of getting to that final really well. Not sure him or Fabinho would have joined without it. Bit like how Hazard ended up at Chelsea.

Kane signing a new deal is a big surprise for me. I thought he would be off. Maybe there is some mental release clause in there.

Tottenham pulling off an old arsenal with being trophyless for a while, somewhat competitive, yet handing out new contracts to managers.

They are moving in the right direction though. They need to add players yet I don't hear anyone linked.

Kane will stay put until he’s in his prime. If he’s still not won anything by the time he’s 27ish he will go to Madrid.

How old is he now 24? That's probably the deal as they are moving forward. Have they been to a final yet and lost? Liverpool has been to a few but lost. Both are moving forward but you have to start putting mumbers on the boards.

Twitter sez that they tried to re-negotiate the fee when they found a few knee problems. Wouldn't you just not sign him if you were that worried?

So the fee was agreed, the lad came in and did his medical. Whilst the results were being looked over, he was put in a Liverpool kit and did his "first interview" ready for LFCtv.
We then discovered the knee issue and told Lyon we were pulling out or wanted a reduced price. Work then done to try and push a deal through, but I'm guessing our price went down to a level Lyon wouldn't reach to.

Does that mean it's done, or will they end up paying even more after the World Cup?
