That's very naive. They miss out on loads of revenues because they're paid/'influenced' accordingly.

Here's a story of the IRS having a guy who skipped out on 1.2billion in tax revenue bang to rights and they settled for a few million.

They are more in my philosophical slot than, say, the Brext Party, but at the same time they have Gavin Esler running as a number one list candidate so they are beyond the jokiest of jokes.

My favourite pundit thing is when people invent a completely absurd hypothetical and then get really mad about it coming to pass. This one from probably the thickest member of the online twitter pundit class is amazing:

I seriously don't understand how you can have a strong opinion either way. It's like having it out for that Malala girl from Afghanistan or whatever. It just marks you out as a fucking weirdo.

Climate activists are like Harcore Remainers. I'm on their side, but they piss me off more than their opposition. Anytime I encounter them it makes me want to chuck every bit of plastic I own in the fucking sea.

Activists of any sort are annoying but nothing happens without them so you learn to live with it.

edit: Another Change UK candidates tweets have surfaced. This time 'Black women scare me' and another one saying that MPs should vote for Theresa Mays plan. lol

It's not so much her as everyone fawning over her, despite the fact that 1) she is just repeating pretty conventional environmentalist talking points; and 2) has clearly been put up to it by her parents. If it was some smelly twat talking about a general strike for the climate Michael Gove and co. would quite rightly lol them out of the room, but because some spoon-faced retard has been groomed into it people are treating it as great wisdom. She has more in common with that ISIS bride than Malala Shotintheface.

Is it just me or has there been a massive overreaction to this woman being shot in whichever part of Ireland she was in at the time (Northern?)?

Or is it a perfect storm type thing?

Saudi murdered what 40 people the other day and there’s barely been a noise in comparison to Khasoggi. The media cares more when it’s one of their own.

When it happened I did wonder how many times you have the profession of a victim quite so front and centre of a thing.

I'm largely ignorant of the facts, but assumed it was more of an accidental killing than a deliberate act - is that not the case?

Female LBGTQIA journalist shot in the heart of brexitland, I suppose it could only have been more of a story if it had been some far-right nutbar who'd done it.

crusty climate change activists with their dreadlocks and shit might be more annoying than the semi-imminent destruction of our planet, but some of you cunts would still be rolling your eyes and lolling at vegans or something even if you were literally drowning to death in toxic co2 icecap water or whatever it is, i don't really know how climate science works tbf but go with it.

It was accidental in the sense that they fired at the police but there was a whole crowd gathered watching what was going on so they basically just fired into a crowd.

It's pretty symbolic of the state of Northern Ireland at the minute though which is probably why it's such a big story. We haven't had a government for over two years and all the while paramiltary activity has been bubbling away under the surface and erupts from time to time. That this person of the 'ceasefire babies' generation (check out her article on such - it's good) and seemingly had a bright future ahead of her (had a two book deal signed with Faber & Faber) was killed by these morons who cling on to bitter old shite just seems to sum up all that's wrong with this place. The majority of the most promising people from here leave - either when they go to uni or if the stay here for uni, often afterwards to find decent work. And when you see this sort of crap, is it any wonder.

Not sure what you mean by 'the heart of brexitland'.

People would like house building more if it wasn't all a massively corrupt bung to developers with no commensurate increase in parking, infrastructure and services.

I think there is also some weird 'influence' dimension in that we think it will help us secure a trade agreement with the Chinese, which is lol because 1) why would a few quid on 'non-core' components make a difference; 2) why would that be worth our intelligence co-operation with the Anglosphere (which is the actual best international agreement we have); and 3) it was always going to be US vs China in trade agreements so what?

I'm a low-level Ministry of Defence pleb (albeit one with security clearances), and I was told never to buy a Huawei phone. My friend in the Navy was told likewise about three years ago. They suck everything up as a matter of course and then decide what to do with it. How the absolute fuck the government can think this is a good idea is absolutely deranged, and the way they have gone after the leaker is proper Berlin bunker stuff.
