The same stuff has shown up in all polls across all pollsters during the pandemic, and YouGov don't make their money by acquiring useless, inaccurate information. The public are just a bunch of reactionary weirdos.

I think I've said this before on here but imagine a street somewhere near you, think of each house and think of all the monstrously dull (often old) people who live in them. These are the people racking up these numbers on polls.

They're skewed towards 'Mrs 45', but my guess would be there are a fuckton of Mrs 45's who want this shitshow to continue.

If we were wearing them around the clock, sure. We aren't and never have been. Maybe Soviet Scotland is different.

I think he means adults wearing masks around them, but I'm struggling to think of a setting where that's the case during the years that speech develops.

I worried about this when masks first came in, but it simply isn't true. Kids can absolutely read your emotions, pick up on smiling, etc. despite masks.

Watching Ardern having press conferences about riots is rather heartwarming. Not a great deal of smugness now.

It’s pretty batshit that they’re still cancelling weddings over 250 cases as we’re ready to fuck it off completely.

They're just stepping out into the unknown. They have no idea what those case numbers mean because they've never allowed the lid to come off. The Aussies should give them the numbers they need, really.

Hopefully it stays like that. When my wife got it in December she was fine after the first day of illness.

More like 3 days of a return to the horrors of Outlook for Web on a tiny laptop screen under a barrage of pressure from tearful customers, and 2 days of gaming and TV.

Although last night as the temperate set in I spent 2 hours watching youtube of a man trying to walk across Wales in a dead straight line, so maybe delirium is an additional symptom.

He's already sent me a Teams message saying I AM SORRY, I AM SO SO SORRY because what an Arab loves more than anything else in life is a bit of needless dramatics.

It's made me think of this for the first time in years though, so I'm the net winner.

Anyone working with the Covid "get out of work free card" in their possession only has themselves to blame. Especially if you are actually ill.

Ben knows. Advancement in this work environment requires old fashioned macho values, something with which I am of course naturally associated anyway.

Will we ever get these people back, do you think? Sort of usher them back into the realms of normality, I mean? I fear not, for a lot of them.

I can only imagine that their lives were that monumentally uninteresting prior to this (and I say this as somebody who doesn't consider his own life to be particularly interesting) that they're desperate for it to remain front and centre forever as it gives them a sense of living through something "significant". Being part of a future history lesson or something. It's just how they define their existence now.

One of the mums at the school is like that. The only mask at the gate. She is gutted (GUTTED) that it's over and people are moving on.

They pretend they're the good people with pure intentions, but you just know they're seething when SAGE's worse case scenario doesn't pan out. Fucking ghouls.

In forty years time you will probably have to occasionally explain to your grandkids why there is the odd nutcase of our generation wandering down the street in a mask and avoiding all other people by a minimum of two metres like their life depends on it.

My working from home this afternoon involved lying asleep in bed and drooling over the keyboard for a couple of minutes if I heard the outlook notification sound. Full letter of apology to Deepti incoming, let's hashtag mask up, it's OUR CHILDREN who will die if society is not permanently shut down now.

Epidemics only end when they instead become endemics. That means mass immunity. It's going to get everyone eventually. You're just trying to delay the inevitable.

It's a measure of people that care about being seen to be decent. At least here it is, where the rules don't include wearing masks.

If the rules said I had to, I still would if I had it with me.

Talking of decency measures, remember when Spikey was set upon for wondering whether to vaccinate his kids?

"Why wouldn't you?" "Why would you not have a vaccine".

Vaccination for SARS-CoV-2 in adults was associated with a small increase in the risk of myocarditis within a week of receiving the first dose of both adenovirus and mRNA vaccines, and after the second dose of both mRNA vaccines. By contrast, SARS-CoV-2 infection was associated with a substantial increase in the risk of hospitalization or death from myocarditis, pericarditis and cardiac arrhythmia.
    Rofl indeed.

What actually matters is whether the vaccine generally reduces the risk of cardiac sequelae in those who get infected after they have been vaccinated. I can't find any data on that.

Please tell me that isn't comparing the risk of all adults getting heart problems from having COVID vs. all adults getting heart problems from the vaccine?

The point was specifically in relation to kids and young people being vaccinated and whether it was worth it, it sounds like you're gagging to include Doris in any analysis into this.

The vaccine risk of myocarditis vs. infection risk is much more equal at lower ages (and might even tip the other way at very low ages). That study is very generalised to be honest. Kind of an all vs. all comparison.
