Well it was another thrilling effort from Brewdog.

Ending with a bang.

Every other day I've been having more than my calendar beer I've had the calendar one first on a clean palate. And it's Christmas which means I am of course having some early now I'm done with work so I guess I'm starting on 440ml of 13%.
This is dangerous stuff.
Especially for half five in the evening.
I'm supping on an Into the Haze and am contemplating having to go out to the garage to get more beers whilst it's pissing it down.
I remember once going into town to meet a friend for lunch but we were going to the pub first. We agreed on a craft place in town and I walked in, roasting and gasping for a beer as it was an actual nice summer's day in Glasgow. Walked in having fully intended to get a pint of some sort of pale or lager but saw a lovely sounding 12% stout and went "oooh yes I'll have one of those." Of course it was gone in about 15 minutes. A foolish start to proceedings.
Punk's decent enough, but doesn't fare well if you've been drinking more well made/flavoursome beers in the run up to consuming it. I was left with a bunch after drinking all the Christmas good stuff last year and it took me a while to taste anything from it.
On the subject of Christmas stuff, I got a few siren's, a Caribbean Pancake White Porter and some sort of stout thing. Both very decent. Think I have a mole one in the fridge and a few other things from Attic(?) brewing who made a decent pale.
Chaps, I've one of those metal beer kegs. Is it something that needs to get drunk in one night otherwise it'll go flat, or is it sealed sufficiently to drink over a week or so?
The 5 litre one with a gravity tap on the bottom? You’d want to be downing it in 2 days max if you haven’t a dispenser.
Roaster Coaster by Brewdog / Evil Twin remains a disgustingly easy drink for 9%.
My Nan got me a ‘12 days of Christmas’ brewdog box, so had a few of them.
Got a bottle of jack daniels tennessee honey from my mum's mate. Not a huge fan, but I found a ridiculous cocktail off reddit that I have all the ingredients for.
Two parts tennessee honey, one part lemon juice and one part MAPLE SYRUP. It's probably my entire 2022 sugar allowance, but it's pretty delicious.
Had a bottle of red wine with dinner last night then drank margaritas for the rest of the night. Bizarrely didn't feel hungover this morning at all.
I’d have had their wall sprayed before they got the first margarita made.
Siren's Death by Carribean Chocolate Cake.
It packs a punch.
One of my favour ever beers, that.
I'm on call so don't have anything fancy in. A handful of Elvis Juice and a couple of Belhaven oatmeal stouts.
I just keep going back to the O’Hara’s Irish Stout in the nitro can. I don’t know how anyone would touch Guinness again after it.
Don't expect anything too "crafty", they're basically nicer versions of Guinness and Kilkenny but that's a very good thing.
The red isn't much more than fine but it's super drinkable. Very smooth (which is a given with a nitro, really) and pretty clean tasting.
I know the answer is no but @Giggles have tried “Forged Irish Stout” that Conor McGregor does? Apparently it’s only available in The Black Forge Inn in Dublin, for now.
His whiskey is meant to be rancid, but this looks lovely and creamy.
I'm a twit
Could just be some Twitter want on the wind up (I imagine the beer is probably Fine) but I still chuckled.
Not sure who’s making it for him but I’d say it’s bang on and a standard nitro Irish stout.
As you said, Giggles, the O'Hara's nitro stout is kinda unremarkable but very drinkable. If I was in a pub with nothing more interesting on I'd happily sit on that for the duration.
Yeah it’s definitely just a standard nitro stout but just nicer than Guinness or most others. I’d love to see it on tap in more places.
Picked up a 4 pack of Sierra Nevada California IPA and a 4 pack of Salt Jute Session IPA under the cover of dog walking.
Staggeringly Good Bloody Mary Sour.
It is, as you might expect, weird. But I'm not against it.
My own latest brew is surprisingly a monster of a beer. Having it over any IPA's I have in stock. Took long enough but finally not making meh
When are you having us over to try?
Any time peps. You can even have a room and not a camping space out the back.
I have been drinking this lately:
It is very good. Porters are, without a doubt, my favorite type of beer.
I love a porter but sans the nuts and chocolate.
It doesn't really taste much of that, which is why I like it. Hard to find Porters around here. IPAs left and right.
It was like that here for ages but there's been a big push lately on other stuff and with such a saturated market (over 90 breweries for somewhere so small) there's some really good stuff landing. The IPA's and pales are still the bread and butter for most of them but it's letting them do a bit more. My go-to place just recently doubled their fermenter capacity (sue to the sales of their two IPA's) so they can do more lagers and are currently building a new brewery on site to do some wild and mixed stuff.
I signed up to the scotch malt whisky society when I was pissed despite not even liking whisky.
You say you're in Pennsylvania these days, Pepe?
Voodoo's a brewery I had a good one from a few years ago. 'Wynona's Brown Ale', if it's available to you anywhere / they still do it.
Is there a good website that'll deliver? There are loads of dark American beers I've had and still see semi-regular even over here.
Just checked, and Voodoo is not too far from here. Might have to check it out some time.
I am sure I can find good stuff online. I just miss being in St. Louis and having a nice beer store that carried basically everything nearby. Over here there is just the supermarket, which has the generic shite you can expect and not a lot more, or individual breweries, which I do not visit that often since Covid. Not because I want to isolate or anything, I just lost the habit entirely.
I'll go check what I can find online.

Loooove this.
Also had a sour earlier with tonka beans in it. Never had anything other than a stout with those in so didn't know how it'd work but it was really good.
10% is too much for me.
Out of interest: because of burny alcohol taste or because you're a beer-manlet? Because taste-waste this (as with many other impys these days) really doesn't taste it.
Didn't realise you were a fucking pussy.
I'm going to need some time to process this.
My alcohol stamina is definitely the lowest it has ever been. I just had two beers and I think that is all I am willing to take. Fuck hangovers.
I take after my dad in that I currently don't get proper hangovers almost regardless of what I drink. Not the way other people get them.
But I also remember when he went from being genuinely fine the morning after a skinful to saying "N-no.... I'm not hungover I just like... I have a headache and I'm a bit nauseous."
That's a fucking hangover, old man.
So I know my time will come.
I used to think I really disliked high alcohol too until I copped it was always those strength beers they put spirits into and it was that taste I hated.
I have no special issue with those (there's a finer line between them being good and overdone, but broadly any style of beer can be good or bad) but I do know what you mean. That tiramisu one I posted above isn't "boozy" in that way. Like there's no real taste of spirits to it or anything, it's just strong.
I mean I don't think you'd like it anyway because I think you're much more about the traditional flavours for your porters and stouts but I agree that when you get, say, a bourbon barrel aged one and it just tastes of weird bourbon it's a bad time.
Those with whiskey in them are atrocious.
I've had some really nice ones of those and some really horrific ones. If the balance is right and it's basically just a bit of sweetness and warmth (maybe a bit of smokiness if it's aged with Islay or something) it can be fucking mega. But you need the basic beer flavour to still be coming through.
