She was definitely going down the Trump/Brexit/Facebook data line with this until he pre-emptively called it shite in his answer, and now she's just circling around.

    This is good:

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics...s-fact-checked

Started with a solid 'True' before progressively getting more and more desperate to make an article out of it

I've already had one friend text me to say Cummings is only doing this to settle scores, which unlike those fact checkers, I don't buy at all.

I don't think he's doing it to settle scores. He does appear to have a slightly odd view of human beings in which they are either 'brilliant', or they are useless bollards who should be sacked and replaced by a physics grad. Some of the skill of leadership is working with what you've got.

Guardian's giving a 500 increase in daily cases and 14 increase in hospitalisations since last week. Now obviously the former we don't care about (and any one getting tested still needs culling) but can I have a Jimmy report on the numbers to reassure me pls. I'm tired of the mask wearing and social distancing, it's beginning to really weigh upon my soul.

Case numbers are going up slowly but it's not touching the vaccinated, so I don't think you'll see deaths rise (hospitalisations may rise a bit, but only in the unvaccinated).

If there is a mini-wave now it will just take out a few stupid fucks / Asian uncles who wouldn't have the vax earlier, and it will be crushed very quickly as the younger age groups are vaccinated. My only concern is that south Asian pops appear to be extremely stubborn about refusing the vaccine, so in those areas you might see mini peaks.

Can see the 21 June unlocking being watered down and masks staying, but over time it will become more voluntary I think.

What’s the BAME demographic like in Nottingham?

I know I’m fine in my little corner of the North West cos we’re all white labour supporting LADS who don’t need an excuse to poke a syringe in our arms, but if Nottingham is off limits come June 21st I’m gonna batter Chris Bart-Williams.

The soft shite brigade seems to have [smartly] adopted the line to take that any gatherings could give rise to a new variant. Some Jap scientist warning that the Olympicgames could lead to the 'Olympic variant'.

Buzzing to bring about the gay sauna variant come 3 weeks' time.

But, but we locked down to protect them. I reckon it's actually irresponsible to get vaccinated now. We need to aid the cull.

I don't know about England but the NHS here was in a state before the pandemic. There were about 300,000 on waiting lists to see to consultants then. That's about a sixth of our population.

We just need to stop being so utterly fixated on COVID, a habit that I suspect will take a lot longer to break as a nation than it should.

I turned 40 last summer, which should have led to a 'health MOT' at the GP's. I feel fine, so I'm not overly bothered it didn't happen, but I've no idea when it will and there must be a shit load of people the same age who could really do with one.

How are a 6th of the population potentially ill enough to need to see a consultant?

    I don't know.

Presumably a lot of those 300,000 on waiting lists are the same people with various health problems waiting to see different specialists but it's still an awful figure.

Yeah, it'll be 300,000 appointments pending. The list for dentist check-ups will be mad when they finally get round to doing them. Cutting them down to once a year would be the right thing to do.

The mum of one of my wifes friends waited 7 months to have a breast cancer removed last year. It has unsurprisingly spread.

These are the delays and decisions that we're going to look back on with regret. There are many, many illnesses worse than Covid, but they have been largely ignored for a year and alot of people are going to die as a result.

We will open up after the Liberals lose the next election.

The State Governments have done all the work no where else in the world can be compared to Australia.

State run healthcare, quarantine, power to shut internal borders with other States and Territories. Etc

I dunno when the next election is but they could open up once they think they've got enough people vaccinated. Tricky to judge though because you don't have the case numbers to really judge when a vaccine is doing it's business.

We could do 5 million in a fortnight.

I'd advocate Aussies taking flights over here if we could jab them on the sly. Not that they'd be allowed back in Australia at the other end ...

You'd only end up ceremonially burning them like some African failed state.

I've seen a lot of those 'fortress' style arguments at home throughout this whole thing. Luckily, by riding on the UK's vaccination coattails (and not being so remote as the antipodes) we've finally managed to turn the tide on the keep the borders shut forever halfwits.

Yep. I think Labour have got themselves in a pickle over recent months by doing similar. By luck or good judgement the government have nailed this since the turn of the year, so move on and have a go at something else.

Instead, we get Lisa Nandy arguing semantics over zero COVID with Chris Whitty.
