Greenwood is/was a £50 million asset for United. There is no world in which a story like this comes to United executives some time ago and they don't choose the £50 million on the balance sheet over some young woman's welfare. No world whatsoever.

It's surely a given that this sort of thing gets routinely covered up in football. Rugby players are constantly being accused of battering/molesting women, and the player demographics are roughly the same (better if you figure part of this comes from a culture of entitlement). They just don't have the resources to make it go away so it gets out there.
