Has anyone watched Bates Motel? I've watched the first series and it's been okay so far. I just wondered if it was worth persisting with. Thanks.

I once caught some of it cos something overran and whatever I recorded had a bit of it on at the beginning. Had too much of that autistic Good Doctor in for my liking.

Two episodes to go of Mare of Easttown and if it wasn't for the fact that I needed to get some sleep I'd have been binging them having already watched episodes 4 and 5 back to back last night. It's very, very good.

It's excellent, isn't it? We went through it in a couple of nights. One of the best shows I've seen in years.

I had a bint in work on about some big mickey in that show the other day and how it wouldn’t even fit in her. She hasn’t watched enough porn.

Haha it is big even by porn standards, though there are suggestions it's a prosthetic. Might not be, but the odds on casting the guy with the 12 inch flop on as the antagonist for the show that specifically required it in one scene is a coincidence.

Watched the first one so far and I found myself drifting out with boredom. It’s the usual modern formula of being over bleak also. Hopefully some sort of an arc to come though.

No way was that a real schlong. It would be more suitable on a grand national winner.

It's definitely a slow start but end of episode 2 / start of episode 3 it really starts to pick up.

I've just finished it and I really did enjoy it a lot by the end.

The first episode does a lot of scene setting because Mare's character is integral to following events so needs the additional 'padded' screentime. But as an overall series it is the spiritual successor to True Detective.

I've been watching Clarkson's Farm. It's very good and the best thing he's done in years and years by a very wide margin.

I've also watched a couple of episodes of Living With Yourself and I'm not sure what to make of that. I'll give it a couple more. I feel like I'm not really sure what it is or wants to be at this early stage. I did chuckle at the Tom Brady cameo though.

I've seen one episode of C's Farm (not had time to go further yet, or indeed to type out his full surname) and I feel it works because he riffs on the fact that he's a dickhead, much more so than in any of his car things.

Yeah and whereas in the car stuff obviously Hammond and May do their share of being the butt of the joke in this it's almost always him. If he's speaking to people they tend to be the people who know a lot better than him and he gets chided for being an impulsive idiot quite a few times.

I think it's interesting, both because I've learned stuff about farming I didn't know and because it shows him in a different light to Top Gear / Grand Tour. Same guy but he's old and tired and worried and clearly knows, beneath all the bluster, that he's not the one who knows what he's doing here.

Is it on anything over here where I'd be able to watch it? I'll probably give it a go at some point but I haven't yet.

I'm gonna work on the assumption it's not half as good as Glow and hope I'm just being pessimistic.

Just finished watching The Pianist. Superb film.

The only problem is the title, which is the sole reason why I'd not bothered with it until now.

It's on Amazon Prime via "Starzplay" which is an additional £4.99 a month although they have a 7 day free trial.

I'll either download the episodes or wait until they're all out and binge within a week.

I was so sure Season 1 would be terrible, and it wasn't. Then I thought, there can't possibly be five more comedians in NZ, but turns out Season 2 is pretty good too.
    Colour me surprised again.

One is South African so they cheated, and one is definitely not a comedian. The other three are absolutely mega and perfect for the format though.

    Finished Clarkson's Farm. Brilliant stuff.

Dunno if this needs spoilering but it is kind of a key bit of the last episode so I'll do it anyway:

Maureen is prime shameful lustage. The title is misleading but there are some nice touches linked to it throughout the film.

As one of the early supporters of Ted Lasso (season 1), I would also like to take this opportunity to describe season 2 as utter tosh. Misplaced insincere sentimental rubbish.

I’ve taken up Netflix’s suggestion (constantly) of starting that Kevin Spacey White House thing. It’s not bad so far but might be too long for me to watch fully (s1ep7 so far).

Designated Survivor couldn't make up its mind whether it was some sort of 24-esque thriller or a West Wing knock-off.

Yeah it's terrific isn't it. It is also the film that got me into classical music, Chopin is a pretty good entry generally I guess.

I’d love if they had done a west wing rip off because it had more memorable characters after one episode than west wing has in seven.

It will probably turn out to be, by all accounts. I’m just saying early days that it has little character development apart from the main, the wife, and the bald junkie. The rest have been nothing but filler. So far.
