I can't watch Ben Hur. Last time I had the flu I remember taking some of my mam's painkillers (whoops), being knocked out for 3 hours and waking up to find the film was still going.
I watched this and I actually thought it was going to be good but aye, you're right. I think it was a missed opportunity tbh as there's a good enough story in there somewhere.
Yeah, I really wanted to enjoy it - but it's so lacking in any substance or character. Shame.

The guys from Workaholics were talking about it on their This Is Important podcast, how one of them discovered it on a bootleg DVD and said it was the funniest movie hed ever seen, so he immediately went around to the house where the other 3 were and made them watch it. And then they dissected it and watched it again, straight after. And one of them teaches film editing at university and always shows it to his students.
Like theres no way it can live up to this hype!

Attempted Infinity War as it was on TV this evening and was completely lost on it as to who most of them were (the whole crew where one of them is basically a tree) and still no idea why Spider-man is in the same films as the avengers. Anyway, I asked before but I can’t remember, which ones can I skip if I go back a bit? I think the first Avengers or Thor was the last one I seen, whichever was later.
Don't bother. There are simply too many for a casual fan to get into now.

I watched Joker last night and it was actually decent. Probably because there isn't really much superhero bollocks to it.

Got The Shining on 4k blu-ray and for the first time saw the US cut of the film, which is an extended edition that was never shown here. Quite mad after all this time to see the 'new' scenes adds a bit more flavour to Jack Torrance's character.
Never knew that was the name of the character. Wasnt it a poster here too?

I had no idea that Jack Torrance was a The Shining reference either but then again I've seen about as many films as Michael Owen.
Ive never seen it and only know the few things from it that have made it into popular culture - child on tricycle, face through door, and the something something something go crazy phrase.
And it ruined Shelly Duvall.

I watched Wonder Woman 1984 last night and it was pretty shit. They nailed the first movie but this one was another onto the DC movie shit pile.
Gadot was great, Wiig was ok and that's about it. Far too long, shit dialogue and a shit plot.

Got the Lord of the Rings 4K boxset for christmas, picture quality and audio are tip top. Never actually seen the extended editions so watched the extended Fellowship this evening. Some nice extra scenes but don't feel I missed much before, though I hear they get progressively longer with each film.

You get more battle scenes with the other two so well worth it.
That should be good then, I feel like the main ones I noticed last night were to do with fannying about with the elves which I could take or leave.
Lewis being a LOTR creature has thrown me.
They are top quality war films.

They have some of the best battle scenes ever filmed, and very little shite for ten/eleven hours (and most of the shite is the main ring story). The Hobbit films were crap though.
I found them boring, they drag on for so long.
The tree scenes in the second(?) almost put me to sleep.
LOTR were peak teenage film watching.

The 5 minute advert breaks stacked full of hyper depressing charity pleading did seem a bit off for people perhaps seeking a light hearted end to a fairly crappy year.
I watched Jumanji. Loved it.

Finished it off this morning, pretty average. A shame really because I like Rashida.
