40-50% reduction in spread. So what? Lots of vaccinated people are still catching and spreading it and it's already spreading in the community anyway.
What does severity matter? I am just as likely to spread it if I have mild or severe Covid.
What is the purpose of denying unvaccinated people access to societies that have fully rolled out the vaccine? To protect the vaccinated from the unvaccinated? Lol.

A country has a responsibility to protect it's citizens, including those who decided not to get vaccinated, or those couldn't for whatever reason. Therefore, it seems incredibly reasonable for a country to require a non-citizens to have had the vaccine to enter, therefore, reducing the risk to their citizens.
Perhaps I'm missing something, because this seems like really obvious stuff to me.
There was never an expectation that a vaccine would stop you catching it. It's actually scary the amount of people that thought that was ever the case.
You are missing the fact that the virus is already RUNNING RIOT within the community. Unvaccinated Johnny TwoCoughs turning up makes zero difference.

Moderately strong negative correlation (-0.4641396) at local authority level between current case rates and previous infection rates.
Basically vaccines are doing nothing to stifle transmission; the only way to end the pandemic is through mass infection. Vaccines are almost exclusively of benefit to the person receiving it, rather than also protecting those around you. If healthcare is under no threat of being completely overwhelmed, then mandating a vaccine to do certain things in society doesn't sit right with me. If people want to take their chances of being infected without vaccine protection, that's on them. But to have the choice is vital.
I didn't say there was. I am pointing out that stopping people entering your country for not having a vaccine that doesn't stop transmission is absolute wibble.

My main argument against vaccine mandates is that 'Do this or else' isn't convincing anyone to turn. Catching the virus and winding up in intensive care does more than a vaccine mandate ever will.

I can’t catch Covid for the 2nd time for the life of me. I’ve never actually tested positive as the first time I didn’t bother going for a PCR as it was way back when everything was in lockdown and I worked from home anyway. Only reason im pretty confident in having it was losing smell and taste for a few days.

Is there a financial incentive for surgeries to offload flu jabs? Had mine in September through work, surgery called me today for the third time to offer me one despite me explaining everytime 'completed it mate'. Had one every year since I had pneumonia at uni.

Don't think I'll be getting my 5 to 11 year olds vaccinated unless not doing so becomes a ballache in other fields (travel etc). It seems monumentally unnecessary and I'm not entirely sure what the underlying rationale would be. All of the learning to live with it stuff can be equally achieved by just fucking the whole thing off and treating it the same as any other respiratory virus. I could probably be convinced if they came up with a nasal flu type equivalent delivery system.
It's very good that it's not mandatory, but if people want their kids to have one then fine that should be their call. If I had kids (a hard one to imagine, so how could I really know) I doubt I'd do it as as you say, it presents so little risk. Thinking back to the conversation with RL the other day, if COVID was causing heart (or any) problems in kids we'd know about it and it doesn't stop transmission, so there's very little reason left to do it when factoring in the risks.
My little one had to have a blood test last year and it took 3 of us to hold her still while she screamed the roof off the building. A virus would have to be pose atleast a moderate threat for me to go through that ordeal. Never mind this bollocks, which she has lolled at twice. Especially
when the vaccine is atleast as "dangerous" as the illness in her age group.
