Yeah, they'll be fine, but they'll probably just be stuck around where they are rather than being able to have a proper run at being actually good. Until it then goes tits up in a few years.

Their system is better than their players though, so maybe they can Atalanta it up a bit.

The system seems to rely heavily on Mac Allister and Caicedo being press-resistant and capable of breaking lines with their passing. Now I'm not saying Milner and some Syrian refugee aren't going to be able to replace them but watching De Zerbi-ball next season should be very lol.

Are Brighton ever liable to produce their own players? The area strikes me as a proper sporting death zone, even more so than the other South coast teams, unless they can nibble a few South London county lines types away from their pretend rivals.

March, Dunk, they've had a few others come through and do well elsewhere [Gyokeres].

I think the problem is that there isn't much football between the south coast and south London. If you look at the lower leagues, you have teams at levels 7-9 along the coast, and then you have them around the edge of south London, so the catchment isn't that big and I guess all the best players gravitate towards the London clubs. The commuter land between the two is, as you say, a bit of a death zone [other than all the Chelsea kids at Whitgift].

Of course, all of Brighton's potential midfield issues will be solved when they sign Alex Scott in the summer.

6-0 Wolves, 1-0 v Man Utd and today with Gilmour in the line up. The prodigy is back.

Also, why do Sky - even after 9pm - get so offended by players swearing where they have to apologise? Same with when the mic picks up crowd noise and the commentators apologise for it like something terrible has happened

Barcelona won the league in local rivals Espanyols' stadium and started their celebrations. Their fans didn't like it so invaded the pitch and the Barcelona players shat themselves and ran away.

What else are they going to do, go to war with the 100+ people who've made it onto the pitch?

I thought points accrued this season being enough to win the league in previous years was a bad enough argument but bringing in points totals from leagues in other countries is a whole new level.

As for Arsenal's form, it's now so shit that one wonders how they'll do next season.

Neville’s angry because he said City would win the league by 15 points and United would finish second and got bantered for it.

Now that United are 20 points behind, he’s changed his tune but apparently it’s Arsenal fans that have moved the goalposts.

Neville got lolled at for saying Arsenal might not have the bottle and he’s been proven right. Arsenal have bottled it well and truly.

I don't think most fans, particularly of the big clubs, have yet processed how easily City are going to win everything for the next 5 or so years and how little relevance their clubs have except for filling out the CL semi-finals or quarter-finals.

I'd almost rather support Forest or something as at least you have progress to aim for.

Drawing 3 games in a row (having been 2-0 up in 2 of them and 2 of the 3 games being against bottom 5 teams) followed by rolling over to City is definitely a bottle crash. And then obviously yesterday was the cream

Except if you gave us those wins and City win their game in hand we still lose despite that meaning we’d won 13 of the last 14.

It’s not a bottle job, they’re just ludicrously good and a better team.

Not really sure this is the case. Whenever any team is particularly ascendant people can never see beyond their complete domination of everything, and that rarely turns out to be the case. Other teams will get their act together, Haaland or De Bruyne could get seriously injured etc.

Somewhat agree on point 2 though. So long as 90 points plus is the threshold to win the league it is far preferable following a mid-tier club without the weekly trauma of ABSOLUTELY HAVING TO WIN EVERY GAME lest the season be written off as a failure less than halfway through it.

Interesting looking at that table. Liverpool have been better than I've experienced it at home, whereas it suggests away from home they've suffered from both not taking chances and opponents taking more than their fair share.

As for Arsenal, unfortunately they're up against the team that has moved the goalposts on the pitch as much as they have off it. Previously a team getting to high 80's in points would be winning the league. Now you're needing to aim for 95 points or so to be in with a chance. Even then we've seen higher than that not be good enough.

To have won the league in the past 7 years instead of the winner, your points required would have been 94, 101, 99, 100, 87, 94 and looking like 95 again this year. There's no shame in losing to these as they're not human and also don't exactly play by the same rules as the rest, but unfortunately the house always wins.

The last six PL seasons have comprised three easy City wins, and three seasons where they were meaningfully challenged by Liverpool (of which two were still won by City). It's gone.

City are a better team than us. Change all non City games to a win. They’re still a point behind. The youngest team in the league isn’t as good as Man City. Absolute bottle job.

It's alright, Saudi, Qatar and Clearlake Capital will save the day.

Pep will fuck off eventually and then there will be space for everyone else.

United enjoyed similar periods of dominance, so it's not a new thing.

I mean, you should be beating Southampton and West Ham on paper. I'm with you, though. City always had that game in hand and wins over those two (combined with a point against Brighton) would've still seen you second best.

In a perfect world yes. The fact that we were ever in the position to lose it by a point rather than 9 or so hasn’t killed me life it has some others. I factored in 2 losses and Man City dropping 1 as my positive vision board. It didn’t happen. C’est la vie.
