Lucas was immense on Sunday for the first 60 minutes for Lazio for whatever that's worth.

Fuck it. Do it. There's not been a decent serial killer in the UK for ages anyway.

Cheers all. As a teacher there were a fuck ton of names I was ruling out right away (‘L’ names are generally typically little shits - Lucas, Lewis, Louis, along with your Jordan’s and Cameron’s edit: and BRANDON’S - those kids are cunts) and it was difficult enough to find a name we both liked (although oddly we had a girls name picked out from pretty much the point of a positive test). His name is Ewan.

Given that my name is Ian and my dad’s name is Maurice those were both kind of ruled out.

@mo when did you become a teacher?

I've been volunteer teaching English to some forriners in Montreal once a week and it's something I can actually imagine doing as a career.

    also, congrats

I’ve been teaching for 5 years. I’ve thought about packing it in numerous times over the years but for one thing I can’t imagine what else I could do (that would pay me the equivalent wage) and for two, is miss being in the classroom. There is something quite addictive to it, even if some classes make you wonder why you bother(not a problem you’d have teaching English as a foreign language though, as presumably those people want to be there and want to learn, not to be a constant source of irritation)

Ewan is just the Welsh (Celt?) form of Ian, isn't it?

Found out this week we're having a girl which means I won't have to lug them to Cov games, and even better I'll have no compulsion to keep going to Cov games.

My wife and I received a Naipo massager in the post this week, and it's fucking phenomenal. I looked up 'orgasm face' to find an appropriate video for how good this feels on your neck, but most of the links came from pornhub. I recommend the second one down in the Google videos search for an approximation of this product's impact on my life.

I've started going through Seinfeld this week. I'd never really appreciated the odd episodes I'd seen in the past, but on this viewing for some reason I find it amazing. Elaine is one of the most watchable characters I can remember.

In which case, you need to give Frasier the same treatment. Both are great but a good joke in Seinfeld is every 2-3 minutes and Frasier is every 30 seconds.

Nathan For You is good if you can do cringe comedy. Eric Andre is great farce just done nowhere near as well as Reeves & Mortimer.

If you think 'Rapper Ninja Warrior' is the weirdest thing you've seen celebrities do, watch Shooting Stars doing it 20 years ago.

That part of the show was done infront of a live audience, no laugh track. The sketches don't have laugh tracks. Here's every 'The Club' sketch back to back.

The series of sketches that started around 25 minutes in are so good. The part where it suddenly becomes Alien being the peak.

Watching it all for the first time in the post-woke era I wasn't sure if Bob doing a bizarre asian accent is racist or if it's so purposefully bad that it comes out the other end. Still dumb in a good way though.

I've just heard a story recounted about Sandra Day O'Connor, the first woman ever appointed to the US Supreme Court. Her husband was in declining health, so she checked him into a nursing home and visited him every day. Over the months and years, his Alzheimer's caused him to forget who she was, and see her as just a nice lady who came to see him. Eventually he forgot he was married at all, and started a relationship with another resident of the home. He'd excitedly tell the 'nice lady', his wife, about his little lunch dates with this woman, and talk about how glad he was to have someone. When asked how the fuck she was coping with hearing that every day she said 'I love him, and he's happy. That's all that matters.'

I love that story, as unfeasibly sad as it is.

I saw a documentary a while back that mirrored that pretty much word for word. I think it might have been Louis Theroux, but they were English.

Anyway, yeah, Dementia / Alzheimer's is fucking terrifying. When my mum was nearing the end (it was brain cancer rather than either of those), 19 year old Spikey came down stairs one morning to find that she had pulled her IV from her arm, was bleeding, and was desperately searching her knitting bag for a solution. She had no idea what she had done, who I was, or what was going on.

If I ever find myself in one of those situations, I am pitching myself off of something very, very tall.

I recently spent a night with my gran during which she had absolutely no idea who I was. Not quite as bad as the night she thought I was my dad for an hour, before remembering he was dead then weeping like he'd just died all over again, but getting her to take her medication off what to her was a complete stranger wasn't easy.

Not much scares me, but that frightens the shit out of me.

The worst part about dementia is how oblivious the person is to it. To lose your mind in that manner and not be aware of it would scare the hell out of me.

My grandma is going through it.

Right now it's not seriously bad and she just forgets a lot of little things.
