I dont think he did make it to a training session. There are only a few images of him holding the cardiff shirt and wearing the scarf.

They've said they can see one body on the plane, but that they can't see into all of it.

Yes, they can see a body from the images of the wreck but need to investigate further. I assume that means more submersi... sub... fucking boat things and then divers.

He wasn't even on the plane. It's all a scam to get out of the transfer.

Wouldn't you try to parachute out of one of those things?

Also, isn't being over the english channel basically close enough to everything that you could send out distress radio calls or whatever?

I remember when reading about that Air Malaysia wreck that it's not always possible to get in contact when flying out over the Oceans, but the channel seems narrow enough that you'd be close to someone pretty much all the time, not?

Also, had he already signed for Cardiff? Because if not, they can't be eligible to pay the transfer fee, right?

And if he had - why wasn't he there in the first place?

    Really? The graphic on this:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-47111632

...seems to indicate he's headed towards Cardiff?

EDIT: or do you mean he was returning from returning, so to say?

He signed for Cardiff, flew home to get his shit together then hopped on the back of a remote control airplane to get back to Cardiff.

Yeah, he'd said goodbye to all his Nantes mates and even joked about how shoddy the plane was.

Can't believe it took them that long to find the plane. The channel's not even that big. I could have found it quicker.

My mate and I managed to produce (over about 3 pints) a detailed explanation of the full scam the other night. The key is that the deal with Cardiff is signed and sealed, and the golden hello and agent's cuts are all safely in Swiss bank accounts, setting Sala and his folks up for the quiet life. He cooks up a desire to 'say his goodbyes' to his Nantes team mates, heading back to France, where the plan is set in motion. He heads for the dodgy plane at the airfield, doesn't get on it and some accomplice - Mauricio 'Spanners' McCready - drives him to a lock up on a French farm somewhere, where he still is, eating little rations of BN biscuits with la vache qui rit until this has all blown over.

The pilot, finding himself with a plane but no passenger, takes a dip in the channel as Spanners has managed to do some critical damage to the plane while dressed as a striking lorry driver. Everyone loses their shit, and Spanners puts out a few convenient whatsapp recordings of Sala saying the plane looks dodgy. The family need to ramp up the publicity a bit to try and generate some extra income, so they get a scam 'search and rescue' fund going and get Messi to blow his mouth off. Meanwhile, Sala is whisked across the border to Spain wearing one of those rubber facemasks which Spanners has procured from an old navy friend. Once you're in Spain everyone is asleep anyway so no questions are asked, and a quick hop across the Atlantic takes him back to Patagonia where he can live out his life hassle-free on the remote gaucho ranch of his dreams, with millions gathering interest in his Swiss account. Spanners can return to his day job ferrying nonogenarian Nazis from steakhouse to steakhouse, Neil Warnock gets to cry on TV, and everyone is happy.

I can't see a single hole in that theory.

We are well aware of your links to French mechanics Jim, and you've spent enough time complaining about ridiculous accents to suppose that you've rang around Wales too.

So the only question I have is - what was your cut and can you now afford to get that house?

    It's a bit pointless though isn't it?

You go to all that trouble to get away scot-free with all the money they were going to let you have anyway plus wages.

Excellent. We need to see what legal precedent gets set. If the ink dries and he dies does Nantes get the prize?

Is this going to create a situation where teams sell players to their rivals to rob them off some cash and then hire a hitman to off the player?

Where football is heading, I wouldn't be completely surprised if that happened in the coming few years even.

Does this mean we can start operating on the assumption that the pilot has bailed out and is now kicking back in the Caribbean on a fat life insurance payout?

I was just thinking the other day that United have been getting increasingly Scouse about Munich over the past few years, and it can't be a coincidence that it has occurred when they haven't been winning much.

How many English clubs have had a major tragedy in their history?

    United
    Liverpool
    Bradford

Any others? Seems long odds that the two biggest clubs should have had them, although I guess they are the ones who get to piss about in Serbia etc.

I'm reading up on that and wondering what the result was. 2-0 win on aggregate. Weird for me to see that competition with two legs.

They're having little holidays over in Munich to commemorate. It's all top red status.

A crowd funded search has found "no trace" of the pilot of the plane which crashed with Cardiff City striker Emiliano Sala on board.
I'm back onboard Jimmy's conspiracy. The talk about the pilot's credentials make it even more dodgy.
