I know both are flatfish so I assume rayis something like skate? I cooked that for the first time recently and it was a bit of a faff to eat* but super tasty.

*I assume if you're getting it from a chippy they do the hard work for you.

Yeah it’s battered like the cod. Looking forward to getting one again whenever the fuck that will be. And if they survive that long.

I really have the fear that the takeaway near me that does my salt and chilli spicy bag will die and I'll never have one again.

Looked rubbish. I think the problem is that the focus is always on the fish in the fancier places (and all chip shops outside of the UK - I'm looking at you Australia) when it is actually the humble chip you have to nail to be a top chippie. The battered things are pretty easy generally.
Tbf I had the best fish and chips I've ever had from some shoddy stand on a pier in Tasmania, and reflecting on it, it was because they got this right. The fish was good (because presumably it was plucked out of the sea about 20 minutes before I had it), but the chips were magnificent. The chips make the difference.

I noticed that the kebab van near me was still doing a roaring trade in broad daylight at 5pm. Do vans have a magical loophole they fall into which allows them to stay open? Fair fucks to this trooper if so, been in the same spot since 1985 and no contagious coward virus is going to stop him now.

Fish and Chips is such a con. Every Summer we get the entirety of East London descend on us, with their 10 kids each, 1980's boomboxes and complete inability to put things in bins.

They go fucking mad for Fish and Chips. I know you're by the sea lads, but that Cod wasn't plucked out of the Thames Estuary at the end of the Peir.

I’ve plucked up the courage to order an indian. I still don’t know if I’ll have the stones to eat it when it arrives but we’ll see.

The advice is apparently to move it onto your own plates/bowls/whatever and then microwave it.

Whoever came up with that advice (I originally saw it for a takeaway pizza) was having a laugh.

I filled out an online police report for a 'donut' and refreshments van that was parked at my local lake. I wouldn't normally be so pathetic but it was that or PM-ing Giggles some insults in terms of today's agenda and although it was just a middle-aged lass probs trying to leave her prostitution days behind her as she provides for her 2 bastard children, it was encouraging congregation and I ain't having that when I'm trying to enjoy it all to myself.

Now don't really know if I agree with my actions or not but I've wanked five times and feel like I can go another five #quarlife

Each of the 4 along my road has A4 pages of WordArt pinned up in the windows offering incentives to order delivery. It would be touching if eating their food wasn't likely to start another respiratory pandemic.

    @Giggles @Spikey M

I've just had a look at the updated menu my local place put in the bag, and they've added a new calzone. Donner, chicken tikka, lamb tikka, spiced mince, spiced onion, and chilli sauce. Sounds like it could be a bit much, but there's no world in which I don't buy one to find out.

No, I got a bhuna 'pizza naan'. Garlic naan bread covered in chicken bhuna then topped with cheese and grilled. It's a filthy, sloppy mess of a thing but absolutely brilliant.

Full days at home have given me the motivation to teach myself how to use a Weber.

Beef Shorties is my third attempt after playing around with silverside and lamb shoulder. This easily my best effort so far with the help of a beef rub and cherry wood. I was super keen and took them.off at 195f which is a touch too soon.

Im sorry I cant get the spoiler things to work.

This tin of macaroni and cheese might be the worst thing I've ever eaten. And I fucking love mac and cheese.

I can't even finish it. The other can's going to the food bank. Jesus.

Referring to a (weber) BBQ as 'a weber' is worse than any fuel based snobbery. Gas is fine. Call it a cook out if you have to be an absolute wanker about it. Coal is good fun (and better), but it's a massive faff and most people are fucking shit at it, so any benefits are completely offset by the fact that you usually either eat 3 hours later than planned or everything is incinerated.

Absolutely not, but why wait the extra 3 hours for the privilege?

I suppose being paralytic might help with the eating. You've got me.

Gas is not fine. No smoke, no bbq. Might as well chuck it all in the oven.

You just need to keep your gas bbq in a state of sufficient disrepair/uncleanliness and then there's smoke aplenty. I suppose you could biff some wood chip in if you were a mentalist.

I'm not really sure cooking food outside on a grill, however you power it, is really barbecuing in the full dickhead sense of the term, but that's what it is. Cooking outside, preferably in the sun, not in some smoke filled contraption you've named after your 3rd ex-wife or Vietnam platoon commander.

    How is Wimpy still going?

Just had one delivered owing to it having the shortest delivery time and it was wank. A burger in a brown bun with lettuce and the burger sauce you find at every burger van going. £9 for a meal.
