It's a good tool, it's basically the same as a golfer's strokes gained tee to green statistic, which is generally the best indicator of how well they will do over a period of time. What it doesn't mean is that missing all your putts in that tournament makes you 'unlucky' to finish 32nd instead of winning, it means you putted like shit.

I'm surprised it doesn't get more run with goalkeepers, to be honest. Maybe it would just reveal that all goalkeepers are pretty much the same. I'm not quite sure.
