Ideally we could tax the rich and not have retarded people in charge of everything. Judges included.

This means that if the local government chooses to pay them more it will have to raise the wages of thousands of other people doing all manner of jobs that have got nothing to do with rubbish collection (except it can't anyway because it is already bankrupt settling historic claims against it for not doing so previously).

So yeah, just tax the rich a bit more.
I swear that every time we try to make anything 'more equal', it just ends making everyone worse off. Equality might be better than inequality, but as a main goal, it has an atrocious track record.

I think you are missing the bit on the income that a hell of a lot of people are self-employed and will pay themselves £12,570 so they don’t pay any tax. There is a whole industry around it with people in the construction industry claiming tax rebates after deducting their costs and reducing their income down.

There is a simple way to get those people paying more tax into the economy make them be employees and collect PAYE from the employer. But, that would cost rich people so it’s a no go.

So between retired people, self-employed people, students, people on benefits, etc., that statistic is completely meaningless, isn't it?

I don't think it means much. It's a public poll about something most people (probably) don't have a solid opinion on.

What people do have an opinion on, is the pennies in their pockets. Which is what this is really showing.

No idea what people were so optimistic about in 2015, mind.

There's no consistency in it beyond wild regular swings from GREAT to SHITE. I guess you could say the peak of the GREATs are lessening and were never that optimistic to begin with. I'd say that's bang on with the miserable British psyche.

Dominic Cummings wrote ten years ago that David Cameron considered his role as Prime Minister to be the nation's 'uber pundit'.

The only party who in theory could at least try and tax the uber rich and they're doing shit like that instead. Nigel must be lolling himself to sleep every night. Might as well let him in to measure up now.

While things are far from as good as they have been I think there’s an element of this that becomes self perpetuating due to the doom machine that is the internet.

Almost Everything on it is either fear or ideology driven.

We are absolutely crying out for a centre-right nationalist legend (not Farage, an actual one) who sticks it to the corporate class.

Most that you see masquerading in the public eye fail on the latter clause there because money and status are extremely important to them. Tony Blair perhaps the original for that, his greatest weakness was his (and his wife's) obsession with cash.

Haven't you been on zero growth for a few years? Of course people will think that things will get worse in the next year. Why would they think otherwise?

I'm far from a doom and glom type, but I think that the economy of the US will get worse in the next 12 months and drag everyone else with it.

Given some things must have grown in that time where has the decline been? Do we know? It doesn't seem to be often talked about.

Apparently so. It's fine to pollute the public realm if you're a water company though.

Someone who just dumps rubbish anywhere, like, large amounts. Turn up to secluded country lane, empty 5 tons of rubbish, leave [for someone else to deal with].

Obviously this will end with some granny having her Seicento crushed after dropping a kit kat wrapper.

If they make a big event out of crushing the cars, I'm all for it. Line them all up in the city centre and have a monster truck drive over there or something.

Prolific fly tipper (Romanian) gets their van crushed, and then they replace it with a Motability car because their child has pretend ADHD. The circle of life.
