I've been playing a fair bit recently - nothing competitive just a kick around with a local group of lads. There's some proper short fuse cunts in the group though and there seems to be some kind of handbags every week. One guy threatened to shoot another over some minor tussle
This is why I stopped even playing kickarounds with unknown lads in attendance. Years ago we had a great group, everyone had a laugh even though it was mixed ability and no-one really kept score.
You go to another one and people are going mental if you tackle them with minimal contact. I'd say it was just chavs but there are plenty of chavs who aren't edgy cunts.
One of the guys records the games on the sidelines so we get nice highlight packages. I made my league debut this weekend after a six game ban.

Where i play regular 7-a-side for the past several years has been overrun by girls playing who seem to be under 13s. All the pitches are full of them now. It has increased dramatically over the past year. We now have to look elsewhere as they are fully booked and it is difficult to find timeslots that suit us.
Which isnt a big deal, but they also dont have to pay for their pitches.
Play them and whoever wins gets the pitch.

Played my weekly game today in probably the hottest conditions I've experienced. 36 degrees. Fortunately 3 teams so had a rest every 10 minutes. Hard work.

It was ok, except for all the cowards who didn't show up.
Thursday was my first game since doing my cruciate last May. Just short of 10 months since the surgery. A couple months ahead of initial plan.
Only played 10 mins but it felt good. Soreness kicked in Saturday and its been stiff since then though.

it was. I continued therapy until very recently to be sure but putting boots on for the first time and doing it outside of a controlled environment changed everything.
A couple of early touches helped calm the nerves though. Next up.... a proper tackle

Just get yourself some astro boots rather than short studs. Adidas or Nike are still the best.
Similarly, I’ve signed up for a 7-aside one-day tournament with my workplace so will be playing at least five games (more if we progress) for the first time since sixth form.
Found some unused “adidas predator 20.3 laceless turf” boots in the loft which I’m hoping are fine for the 3G pitch we’ll be playing on?

I've pushed the boat out and got some adidas astro boots, some shin pads and some socks from Sports Direct for the princely sum of about thirty quid.

I totally wrecked my foot somehow, so don't do that.
Unless the actual teams you are up against are walking football teams, or you have some superb individuals, my guess would be that you'll get battered via being out-competed by more serious folk.
Prepare to get battered. Tell your teammates who will be standing around after three minutes to stand around on defense, not on offense.
Prepare to be laughed out of the north west if you use the term offense.

Was a really fun day and lovely weather.
Lost our first two games 5-0 and 1-0 but then I sat a game out cos I was chatting and we won 1-0
Played in the next and we won 3-2 after going two down and someone scoring a last second winner.
Then we were all very tired and lost our remaining three games. Still finished 4th though.
I am very unfit and, having no played football in 20 years, total shit.
Shall not be playing until the same event next year so no plans to improve between tournaments - soz team.
Also, 3 of the 7 teams turned up in near-identical blue kits, including us.
Oh and the final was played between the two teams of refugees who were so far better than everyone else it was laughable.
And our goalkeeper broke his thumb in the penultimate game so we had to borrow a refugee goalkeeper for our 3rd-4th place playoff and he was class.
