A small recovery in prospect for the lost art of good Brazilian player names (and with it their World Cup hopes after 20+ years). People like 'Andre' are holding them back and need to go, but Bento in goal works well and Joelinton is a beauty especially when you say it as Brazilians do (zhwellinton). 'Endrick' is also excellent.
Still work to do - Joao Gomes coming off the bench is far too Portugal, and I'm not having an outfield 'Ederson' whatsoever - but I'm not ruling out their chances just yet.
I didn't realise Matheus Cunha was so well travelled, despite still being only 25. I thought Atletico plucked him straight out of the favelas.
I liked when Brazilian players were going so far away from classic names they were almost Last Of The Summer Wine with players like Arthur, Allan and Compo Souza.

Look at this bloke Lucas Beraldo on the bench. He would be twice the player if he was just 'Beraldo'. Who needs Lucas? Every prick in the world is called Lucas.
If Pele was around nowadays he'd probably be called Edson Junior or something. Decline.
Grafite and Dinamite were the last two good ones I can remember.
No Chris Wood for Forest.
A trip to Wembley beckons.
It feels like we've not had Barclays in ages.
I for one can't wait 'til we get back so we can have Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher talking Trent, instead of Salah for an hour before build up.
Fulham-Palace on Saturday is a seismic prospect in these parts. Barclays news relegated to chip paper (triple-cut hand-cooked chips costing £12.95, but still).
On the slightly tenuously related to football and chips front, Ed Sheeran was BANG ON about London chippies being shite and Danny Dyer can fuck off crying into his pie and mash if he thinks any different.
I had some London pie 'n' mash last year and it was awful. Shit pie, shit mash, and the less said about the 'liquor' the better.
Pie and mash is just romanticism of shit old working class tropes, like when my old man pretends to still prefer tinned luncheon meat to the range you can now get in a supermarket.
Orange chips make the black country the supreme area for chippies.
There's a tremendous pie 'n mash place in Whitby but it's still just pie 'n mash. Nice to have once every few years but that'll do.
And obviously being close to Whitby, everywhere else I've sampled out of the region is useless.
Mash will always be the poorer cousin to chips when discussing potatoes.
I'd take the best mash over the best chips. The watery snot they serve in pie and mash shops is not mash, it's just what people could afford in about 1910.

I'm not sure a spy is needed to "fuck up" the English national team.
The keeper
Beginning of the end for Maresca I think. The first team played the u21s at the training ground and lost 3-0, so he's cancelled their day off and got them all in for training.
Might work at another club but I could see the players not taking that well.
Alphonso Davis doing his ACL weeks after signing a new 5 year deal. Good job he decided against holding out for Real.
Seeing a lot of OMIGOD NO PL???? type stuff today. Another fascinating chapter in people's inability to cope without league soccer. Do these guys sit around curled up in a ball all summer?
Nah, they huddle around plane trackers and agent twitter feeds.
"Player X has followed Team Y on TikTok. Transfer announcement must be imminent!"
I want another international window.
Nah, that'd just put our bus parade back another week.
Here's a good jaunt down memory lane. Boro's bus parade 21 (!!!) years ago.
Steve McClaren is on top form only for all the energy to be sucked out of the town with Gareth Southgate's speech.
FA Cup quarter finals being given their own weekend is fantastic. Especially so with the slate of teams involved (and I'm not just saying that because Fulham are still in it).
Adam Wharton is a lucky boy.
That would have been some goal by Lerma.
That was fucking lovely.
Eze is different gravy.
This is such a proper cup quarter-final. Loving it. Game later should be similar too.
Well that was frustrating.
Feel like we were the better side for most of the game, especially up until the 2 goals in the 1st half. Once they got the lead, they defended well and stuck to their shape (very similar to their win in the league last month against us) and could counter as we pushed forward.
Difference between the sides was that Fulham are fare more prosaic in attack, don't have the magic of an Eze.
I'm about to take 3 kids 9, 8 and 5 to the Brighton game. God help me.
God speed Niko. Expect the short attention spans of todays youth to kick in around 20 mins in when someone goes down feigning an injury again.
Sensational keeping again from Meslier. This cunt has cost us promotion already. Wilder and Parker getting automatic is a scandal.
Fucking hell. He's an absolute cunt.
Meslier is a tragic excuse for a goalkeeper. If Leeds had a solid 'keeper, they'd be well clear at the top right now.
Not a penalty at all.
