Soulstorm somehow managed to add to Dark Crusade but also be a worse game. I quite liked 2, the move away from traditional RTS was a bit jarring but I liked the more tactical combat. 3 I have been advised to never play.

I'm sure they used to kick off at FUMBBL as well, who as far as I can tell really only try and make enough money to keep the game/site going.

Parted with £12 to get Quake, Quake 2, Quake 4, Doom 3 and Doom 64 from the Steam sale. Not going with BFG edition to keep my Doom 3 AS CARMACK INTENDED.

Not everybody will have claimed it, or have the means of doing so, and it's worth having anything you might be interested in on multiple storefronts anyway in case for some reason it disappears from one.

If you like Commandos / Desperados style tacticsy things then this is one of the best.

Just looking now. C&C Collection for a fiver might get bought. Mainly because my disc version of Red Alert 2 needs tinkering to work on Windows 10. Plenty of cheap boomer shooters, too. All the Thief games for £4.28.

Hades is an all-timer of a game for £12 and would probably work well on the Steam deck (think it was you who got one?) Divinity Original Sin 2 is incredibly for that price too.

And did you ever finish XCOM WOTC and have you played Chimera Squad? The latter was sort of divisive but I liked a bunch of the things it tried and it's under a fiver.

Those are a few at a glance scrolling down the main page.

I've bought Tinyfolks because it looked fun when Many A True Nerd played and it was £1.50 and I'm eyeballing Shadow Tactics: Aiko's Choice, Warhammer: Mechanicus, Okami, Eliza and Wildermyth. Won't get all of those for fear of the Gamepass jinx but I may get a couple.

I did finish WOTC and enjoyed it. I have got a Chimera Squad save going on though yeah I am not quite as taken with it as the usual entries.

I picked up Divinity Original Sin 2, and yes I got the deck. Loving it so far.

Divinity Original Sin 2 is an incredible game. If you can find somebody to co op it with you even better, but it's great as a solo effort too.

Chimera Squad is an odd one. I wouldn't put it above any of Enemy Unknown, Enemy Within or any XCOM2 stuff but it does some stuff I'd really like the next mainline game to do, whenever we get it. Once they're done with Midnight Suns, I guess.

I would love to get into X-Com but I panic as soon as it inevitably goes sideways. I know the odds are supposed to be stacked against you but I struggle to appreciate even the littlest of victories.

Have you tried any other turn based tacticsy things? There are plenty which aren't so much about appreciating the bad missions for "narrative" purposes.

Gears Tactics, for example, is largely about endlessly charging forward with a big chainsaw.

I had one to review. Warrhammer 40k: Nercromunda Underhive Wars or something. Ran the same principles but had all the pacing of a snail with no purpose. And X-Com which I played for about 8 hours before it all got too much. I could probably come back at it with a bit more knowledge. It's been years since I last gave it a shot.

With XCOM it helps to know what the best research order is as your odds increase massively once your weapons and armour are upgraded.

If anyone is going to a Tesco today, it's worth checking the Switches in store. Fair few reports at them showing at half price to clear some stock off the shelves.

They've also a few games down to half price too. Animal Crossing being one of them.

I guess so. Not sure what more it could entail to be honest.

But it was so cheap and the nerds go wild for it, I thought why not. When I finally try it in a few years' time, I'll let you know.

Can you get put on speed awareness courses? Can you get involved in police chases?

This might shape up to be the best £4 I've ever spent.
