The authorities should be focusing on the parents of these 11 year olds who still think Santa is real.

Some lad said something to make my daughter doubt. Thankfully he once told her she can’t whistle (jealous scrote) and she’s a better whistler than me or her mum, so ‘don’t listen to Jack, he tells lies’ has got a lot of mileage.
They’re 7, wullie, don’t @ me.
I'm a twit
"Your sky daddy isn't real, mine is!"
It does seem a bit of a dangerous route to be going down for a man of the cloth, although admittedly a less dangerous one when it comes to children than they've previously been predisposed towards.
I thought kids were all jaded and old before their time due to the unrelenting horrors of the internet in their pocket now?
Most don't get the full force of the unrelenting horror put in their pocket in year 5 though.
Looking forward to the eventual Lucy Letby stitch up that Netflix release
If Letby is innocent (or not guilty beyond reasonable doubt) we can kiss goodbye to the state ever being trusted again.
Like the story but I'm struggling a bit with British people paying 15%+ [and the most of anyone] of total health spending out of their own pockets, how does that work? Or is stuff like physiotherapy and dentistry all chucked into the mix? I could sort of understand that, maybe. Still sounds a bit of a stretch.
Without a monetary number to go with the percentage, I can't fathom it either. Maybe it's bumped up by people that go private?
Not sure. Comes from here:

The monetary number would be this:

This is one of the most moronic paragraphs I've ever read. The smiling doctor who writes you prescriptions and sends you to the MRI and refers you to a specialist without ever asking you for money knows full well that you’re going to end up having to wrangle with the insurance company for the cost of all those services. The gentle nurse who sets up your IV doesn’t tell you whether each dose of drugs through the IV could set you back hundreds of dollars, but they know. When the polite administrative assistants at the front desk send you back to treatment without telling you that their services are out of your network, it’s because they didn’t bother to check.
Based on your experience working in an American hospital?
Do you think the nurses/doctors/receptionists set the prices of treatment? Do you think they work on commission? Do you think they should be rationing the treatment they give you based on how much it costs?
"I know you're in excruciating pain but analgesia is pretty expensive and the insurance company will probably try and weasel out of paying for it so I think you should probably just man up."
It's a completely and utterly idiotic position to take up.
His position is that the high healthcare costs in the US come from the provision of healthcare itself, not the profits that insurance companies are making. If you think such a position is idiotic, better bring some numbers proving so to the table.
That is an incorrect read of his argument, but whatever. You seem to have made up your mind about a system you have zero knowledge about, whether empirical or numerical.
EDIT: With that said, a few days ago I saw a job ad for an anesthesiologist, pay was $750000 per year. A system that can afford to pay its workers so handsomely will never be not expensive.

Is there anything more to this New Jersey drone thing, or is it just Americans being Americans again?
Some poor dog walker is about to go for one last swim.
Don't consultants get paid something like £100k basic? I know some of the hip ninjas can roll out half a dozen private ops on any given weekend morning, but can that really get your average joe consultant up to that sort of level? Without even going into the fact that you probably pay a comparative pittance in tax in the US and the actual money itself is worth so much more in real terms.
This really highlights the enormous misconceptions the public have about how much doctors are paid.
Consultants are paid about £100-120k and private is far from the golden goose people think it is. In many specialities there is almost no private work at all (paediatrics being one of them). Others (typically procedural ones) can have a fair amount, but at best I think people are looking at earning their NHS wage again, with most people not getting close to that.
There will be a few exceptions in London with people earning big money, but this idea all consultants are raking it in with private work on the side is absolute bollocks.
I dunno, sounds like a lot of beans to me round these parts...
Get 'em!
Fucking hell the sentencing remarks in the Sara Sharif case are harrowing.
Surely this lad's getting whole life. Urfan, that is, not the others.
Probably not but he's not getting out, one way or another.
I noticed Labour trying to sneak out reforms to home schooling policy this morning. Wonder why.
Capital Punishment really does feel like the only reasonable punishment sometimes.
They were saying earlier it often has to have an degree of pre-mediation, sexual gratification or sadism in the offending, but yeah, this guy must have got pretty close to getting in on exceptional circumstances. What they did seemed pretty sadistic to me, but I guess that only counts if you also have the intent to kill.
I never understand how these people find each other. Having one person willing to do this shit is wild enough to me, but the fact they manage to shack up with someone else who's also down for a good bit of child torture blows my mind.
How does it first come up?
"Right, I know this sounds weird, but do you fancy burning the kids with an iron tonight?"
Whichever social services legend awarded him custody will have a good Christmas no doubt.
Like all abuse, slow but steady escalation. Obviously, most people will have a limit, but step parents are often willing to accept different parenting... erm... styles, than they would accept for their own children. It speaks volumes that the wife's own children were untouched.
The amount of people raging at Labour selling Royal Mail to foreigners online explains a lot about why this country is fucked.
Osborne and co knew the score, you can be crooked as you like in plain sight and it won't matter because the idiots of the electorate will have forgotten it all after their next steak bake.
Unless the note was planted, I'm not having any of it.
And her visiting the IV storage twice as much as her colleagues, being caught fucking around with babies unattended by many colleagues, stalking the parents online... etc.
This just smells of "a woman would never do this!". Similar happened with Myra Hindley and she did her best to get herself off the hook with it too.

Yes didn't she visit the parents facebook pages dozens of times on christmas day?
There’s not been any evidence of the babies actually being murdered though, is there? Is that not the point?
All of that stuff looks bad, but could also be explained by a nurse struggling with the guilt of having babies die while in her care. Not saying that's definitely the case, but so much of the case is circumstantial. I hope she is guilty.
Circumstantial evidence is still evidence, although I have little familiarity with what's gone on with her and all the dead babies.
I'm sure the physical evidence was airbubbles in the babies systems, which is why her being caught fucking around with the IV drips was such a "red flag".
I think this is one of those cases where unless you were involved in the case/trial and have actually seen all the evidence - and have the knowledge and context to interpret it - it's pretty pointless to speculate.
Boring, I know.
That's why I've found it quite irresponsible some of these 'experts' who weren't involved in the trial coming out and casting doubt on the evidence and frothing up the conspiracy morons. Then again I suppose that kind of scrutiny is required to identify and overturn the genuine miscarriages of justice.
