Male receptionist lol.
Male receptionist lol.
My appointment letter a few weeks ago had a huge section about mask wearing, how it was mandatory, etc. Then when I got there, I think there was perhaps 1 or 2 pensioners wearing them, but none of the staff.
My local M&S food hall was rammed with mask wearers the other day. Obviously a certain type of clientele go in there and it shows because I’ve seen literally none anywhere else.
I could write a paper on M&S food halls. A really fascinatingly vapid section of the population are to be found in there. Sometimes I think some of them spend most of the day in there.
They'd die of cold if they spent a whole day in there, surely?
I agree it's a fascinating place though. I guess you've made it in life when you start pushing a trolley around one of those.
Quality is so much better too.
M&S is great.
I hadn't been ill since COVID bout in 2020 so thought I'd unlocked an even newer level of invincibility but last 2 weeks something naughty caught me. As with most things I'm typically ahead of the curve so be careful out there.
M&S is the supermarket red squirrel to Aldi's grey.
Waitrose is the one.
You're not doing it OAP right then, stacking your trolley high with all the ready meals and whatnot.
M&S prices aren't bad for loads of things, they've always been solid on staples, but how do you get by doing all your shopping there? They don't have anywhere near enough range of stuff.
I've had a cold for about 3 weeks of the past 6. That better be my lot for the season. Going to start mainlining orange juice just to make sure.
I saw this not at all over-dramatic article the other day.
RIP.
Good effort, I heroically volunteered to keep a hand on the tiller at work during Christmas week specifically so I could utilise it as an excuse to avoid interacting with my in laws beyond the regulation christmas dinner.
Heads have gone:
Completely fucking gone.
That's about 2% more people than claim they've seen an alien. Hardly indicative of anything.
A few cases have been confirmed in my daughter's daycare. Now she has to either wear a mask for the next thirteen days or stay home two days, take a test (in daycare) on the third day and, if it is negative, go back on the fourth day, no mask needed. Apparently going with a mask for two days and then removing it after testing negative on the third day is not an option. Good rulemaking, CDC.
I was thinking earlier: We are going to be stuck with this nonsense just like we still need to take our shoes off in airports, right?
I bet there's more in favour of restrictions than have had the latest vaccine. Let's be honest some fuckers just want the pubs shut because they never go.
I'd love another lockdown.
Nobody would do it.

JN.1 is here!
Oh cool.
What have they got against mice?
And cats thought they were safe from AI nicking their jobs.
Good job Covid-19 didn't come from a lab.
"Daily Mail US"
Come on Boydy, you know better than that.
I hear he gets all his news from there. Very active in the comments too.
BoydTruthSeekerGB
Good job the daily mail us wasn't made in a lab.
Stop being dicks. Don't worry Boyd, I'm worried about this too. #MAGA
I mean, I've no idea whether that story is true or not and I don't really care (I'm too busy stroking my Covid e-victory trophy that I had made up), but presumably there are at least some things the Daily Mail publish that have a basis in fact? "Lol Daily Mail" seems an incredibly reductive argument, particularly when China accidentally unleashed something on the World that caused untold misery and a fair bit of death.
We've been here before. I posted a tweet that contained a video (helpfully, I can't remember what the video was) and the replies were all just to call the source shite, rather than anything regarding what the guy in the video was saying.
The message from Kiko is clear; if it's not from an unbiased source - say, The Guardian or anybody with a Palestine flag in their Bio - then it's bullshit straight away.
I have absolutely no doubt labs like that have to find new and terrifying ways to kill rodents. It keeps their funding going.
I'm not saying there's nothing in it but if you go to Google News and search terms like "mutant COVID brain" then the only results are Daily Mail, GB News, Hindustan Times etc. The less unhinged outlets don't seem to be bothering themselves with this story.
Has it been upgraded from that status?
I think we can all probably agree that China knew something was up long before they told anyone, and maybe they were trying to understand what it was within a lab environment, but I doubt they ever had control of the situation, certainly not to the extent that this wild thing re-emerged from a lab, much less that it was created/designed in one - which is sort of what the mutant covid brain [what a search by the way] article is saying.
China's lollest reaction of all nations to covid heavily suggests that this wasn't some grand conspiracy gone wrong. I mean, it's not like they're averse to a bit of collateral human damage in the furtherance of their agenda generally.
As with all totalitarian regimes, the worst thing that can happen is events appearing to run away from state control. Denying it for ages (possibly even to themselves) and then switching tack to a massively brutal response is the natural response of tyrants to more or less any crisis. Soviets were specialists at it, particularly in the Brezhnev times.
It’s long over.
Is it just the one mask these days?
None since it ended over a year ago. But yes, good lad.
Shouldn't somebody have made a really good film about this by now?
I thought Contagion fit the bill on that.
There are no good films to be made about pandemics. There are no heroes, except for ordinary people continuing to do their jobs, which doesn't make for a great film. There are no moments of pathos or high drama. Just misery and doom.
Lots of films made about the Hundred Years War, none about the Black Death.
Lot's of films have been made about pandemics and killer viruses... but yeah, perhaps this one is just too fucking depressing and real. Idris Elba could play the virus.
