Some nice highlights of the Egypt game, some robust Djibouti tackling for Liverpool fans to enjoy.
Nigeria started with dropped points at home to Lesotho, never change lads.

Azerbaijan beat Sweden 3-0. RIP Zlatan
Some fairly industrial stuff in there, twinned with a disgraceful dive for the penalty, and the obvious misinterpretation of the term 'edited highlights' from whoever put that together. After the first 3 or 4 little clips I clocked the match time was still about 7 minutes in, and then it just goes to complete shit at the end of the first half where a series of misplaced passes out of play and every minor touch Salah had is making the edit.

I think I'm going to go over. My family live in Maryland so I think we will tie in a prolonged visit with them along with catching a game or two. We did the same with my parents back in '94, although we had the benefit of Washington D.C. hosting games back then, so I'm probably looking at Philly.
Hmmmm .... might give Seattle or Dallas a shot.
The ones in Mexico are obviously the picks.
TTH meet at Uzbekistan v Ivory Coast in Guadalajara.
It's just hit me that the US has (soon) hosted more World Cups than England.
Outrageous.
Makes sense, FIFA absolutely despise us on a quite visceral level, for our rival claim to be the home/origin of the sport, and for not having bothered playing in the first few of their World Cups. The only time we got it was when Stanley Rous was running FIFA and we will never host again.
Rival to what?
To them. See their laughable film for more info.
Canada co-hosting the tournament and somehow agreeing to play 1 match in Toronto and 2 in six-hours-away-three-hours-behind Vancouver is just lol. Have some stones - why would you agree to that?
Seems we're probably not top of the pops with UEFA either although I can't really make head nor tail of this story.

Why go through with all that and then not stand? And even the objection that "The FA said leaders should serve a "maximum" of three terms of four years." doesn't immediately appear at odds with this proposal. Weird power plays all round.
Unlike FIFA politics, which is mostly good old fashioned tropico stuff (how many Armani suits have you bought for me lately), UEFA politics is just baffling. Like, why is Zvonimir Boban even involved, and why are the FA stupid enough to vote in the opposite direction to every single other board?
Thailand with a great 1-1 draw away to S.Korea tonight, essentially making it a fight between them and China to join S.Korea in the next round.
Vietnam currently away to Netherlands B (Indonesia) and drawing 0-0 at half time.
Elsewhere, North Korea managed to hold Japan to just 1 goal in a 1-0 defeat in Japan.
3rd Round of Asian World Cup Qualifiers were drawn today. 3 groups of 6, with the top 2 auto qualifying for the World Cup. 3rd place teams enter a convoluted play-off tourney.
S.Korea will cruise Group B, however, it does mean that one of Jordan (most likely), Palestine, Kuwait, Oman or Iraq will be at the FIFA 2026 World Cup(tm).
How do you end up with those first two groups, then Japan, Australia, Saudi & China all bundled in together?
I.R. Iran just makes me think of I.R. Baboon.
One must remember at all times that China are completely shite and not a major team.
Israel - Palestine group match up let's go.
Japan are the first non-host to qualify for this, this evening.
Currently qualified teams:
- Canada
- Japan
- Mexico
- USA
New Zealand will surely be added to this list on Sunday if they can manage to beat Fiji, and then the winner of Tahiti or New Caledonia.
New Zealand v New Caledonia has just kicked off, with the winner heading to 2026. Live on FIFA+ if you are feeling particularly perverted.
New Zealand's route to the World Cup...
Tahiti 3-0
Vanuatu 8-1
Samoa 8-0
Fiji 7-0
New Caledonia 3-0
Ridiculous when you see some of the pot 1 and 2 European teams that could miss out.
If you're not in the best 16 teams in Europe you can get fucked from a World Cup.
Yeah, what we all need at the next World Cup is another Eastern European park the bus outfit there.
Couple of more teams now qualified.
Hosts
Canada
Mexico
USA
CONMEBOL
Argentina
AFC
Iran
Japan
OFC
New Zealand
Qualified for the catchily titled 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification (inter-confederation play-offs)
OFC
New Calendonia

Surely they have to just roll OFC qualifiers into Asia at this point. New Zealand getting a bye to the tournament and whatever collection of pacific rocks getting a bye to a 9-0 pasting off Paraguay until the end of time seems a bit pointless.
OFC would presumably have to vote themselves into doing that, no chance. Would probably benefit New Zealand the country to go the way of Australia though.
I hope New Caledonia makes it.
It's a curious place, New Caledonia. You look at photos and all that comes to mind is Kilmarnock and Airdrie.
