19/26. I missed a couple of sitters.
19/26. I missed a couple of sitters.
I got 16. Couple of big ones that I couldn't place then obscure letters which was more "can you think of a player with that letter"
Managed 21 but I left it open all day and kept going back to it rather than doing it all in one go. Missed B, E, I, J and U.
I got U but only because he was the only one I could think of for the letter who I remembered as a "handful a season" type rather than because I had any confidence it'd be right.
Still annoyed about E though.
I only had a very vague recollection of E. Annoyed I didn't get I and J, really should have.
24/26
E is definitely gettable. U can fuck right off.
15. I missed M and Z which should have been easy.
Saw a list of all time goalscorers from freekicks (only top ten, so don't know outside of that). Can you name them?
Messi
Juninho Pernambucano
Beckham
Dinho
Koeman
Mihaijlovic
All correct. Juninho obviously the top dog with 77. Also correction tonthe above, the list had two more so we're looking for 12 in total.
Edit: that was at Sincere, Wullie gets Koeman right.
Ward-Prowse.
I'm a twit
Who is better at free kicks Messi or James Ward-Prowse?
Ward-Prowse is more accurate than Messi
Over the past five seasons, he has scored directly from 21.7% of free kicks taken, compared to Messi's career conversion rate, which is lower. Ward-Prowse is also ranked among the top free-kick takers for shots on target.
He would be there if his name would be Wardolinho Prownaldo and play for a team that gets more freekicks. He's just a victim of too few opportunities. He has 17 in the Prem. Just one behind the current leader Beckham.
Rivaldo?
Pierre Van Hooijdonk?
Andy Brehme?
Le Tissier?
I want to say Leicester had a good freekick taker in the 90s but I can't for the life of me think of a name [not Guppy or Izzet].
How far back do these stats go?
Zico.
They go all the way back it seems. There's one that's ungetable. I'll give a hint later on when he's the one missing as he's had a player with the same surname that I'm sure some will remember.
None of your guesses have enough for the top 12
It felt like Gary McAllister used to score quite a lot so I'll guess him.
Platini?
Edit: I'll also throw in Pele and Maradona, because might as well.

Thierry Henry
I'm a twit
Surely not Rogerio Ceni?
Of course his there 😄
Just makes the list with 59.
Cristiano courtesy of him taking about 5000 of them.
Three to go. One impossible, one very hard to get and one that will be got easily even if I was surprised he had so many.
Did Roberto Carlos ever score many? He must have taken hundreds.
The last two are a bit tricky:
An Argentine: player spent his whole career in Argentina. While he never represented his country, to have scored more free-kicks than Maradona and Beckham, as well as the same amount as Ronaldinho, is some achievement. This was probably from early sixties to early eighties.
He had a robust Italian namesake playing for Juve at the heart of their defense around the Calciopoli era.
A Brazilian: Only European stint was 10 games for Ajaccio in 2004
The most successful player ever to play for Corinthians, he has scored 206 goals in 420 matches from 1994 to 2001. He has collected more trophies with Corinthians than any other player in their history, a total of 8 championships
Only four caps for Brazil in which he scored twice.
I'll post the remaining two in an hour or so as I don't think the first one in particular is gettable.
I'll just cover the bases from what I can remember about Juve at the time.
Birindelli
Chiellini
Cannavaro
Barzagli
Iuliano
Legrottaglie
Balzaretti
Victor Legrottaglie is the ungettable Argentinian. 3rd overall in the list with 66. His namesake Nicola was the Juve clue, and a bargain in FM iirc.
Just the one Brazilian to go. I missed earlier that he has 5 games for Valencia in 1997 and to give some more info he also played in Japan and in Saudi Arabia.
Marcelinho Carioca maybe? Unbelievable on a couple of old CM versions. Corinthians stalwart, could have had a spell at Valencia I guess.
He is indeed the missing one. Was quite surprised that half of the players were Brazilian and even more so that aside from them and Argentina they covered 9/12.
Latin Americans are traditionally more focused on the technical side of things, so it sort of makes sense to some extent I guess.
192 players have scored a hat-trick in the Premier League. Can you name each and every one?
Bonus points if you can specify the 4 players who have scored hat-tricks in losing situations, and the 6 players who have scored hat-tricks as a substitute.
Ravanelli.
I think Le Tissier got one in a losing cause.
Hasselbaink
Fowler
Owen
Viduka
Aguero
Kevin Phillips
Lampard
Drogba
Rooney
Saha
Mitrovic
Andy Cole
Berbatoss
Solskjaer
Ruud
Rooney
Yorke
Scholes
Sheringham
Ronaldo
Van Persie
Shinji
Martial
Bruno
Rashford
Deadly Dirk Kuyt
I saw Mark Hughes get one once.
Alan Smith [maybe times two?]
He’s already been said but Solskjaer is the one I remember getting one off the bench.
Harry Kane
Hueng Min Son
Henry.
Ravanelli managed two, one in a draw with Liverpool.
Le Tissier did, in fact he scored two of his four hat-tricks in losses.
No hat trick for school dinners.
You are correct, Solskjaer scored 4 away at Nottingham Forest after coming on as a sub.
Messi
Raul
Shola Ameobi (I know he hasn't but I just wanted to say it)
Rebrov
Shevchenko
Did Zaki or Michu ever bag one during their fleeting moments in the sun?
Fernando Torres and Gerrard if not said already.
Les Ferdinand.
Alan Shearer.
Haaland and Salah to start clearing the obvious chaff.
Cantona got the first ever one I believe.
Other than Ravanelli, John Hendrie and Hasselbaink (already said) got ones for Middlesbrough. That's probably it.
Kevin Lisbie
Peter Ndlovu
Andrei Arshavin
Was the Kevin Lisbie one against Liverpool? Think I saw that in the flesh as well.
James Beattie.
Kevin Davies.
