Anyone with a working brain can see Norris is light years ahead of Stroll.
That whole Stroll/Gasly battle was wall to wall lols. Well, not for Gasly, more seethes for him. Maybe the stewards knew something Gasly didn't when they didn't make Stroll give the place back [ie you're safer behind him in the minor place battles].
Even from a business perspective, it makes sense to give Stroll the boot. Get someone else in with a new set of sponsors and save some money on repairs. Unless his dad is paying him peanuts.
But the whole point of Lawrence being there will be to get Lance a chance at a world championship. Surrounding him with former world champions to learn from, and get the team points, revenue, sponsorship etc. the whole point will be for eventually stroll to have improved enough and the car to be competitive enough that he has a crack.
Otherwise he’d have stuck around at Williams.
Can imagine gasly was quite pissed off too. That body check from stroll was like how I used to play toca touring cars on the original PlayStation aged 6.
Stroll wouldn't win the world title if he swapped seats with Verstappen in this season's cars, and that's just about the most dominant car of all time. It'd be an interesting thought experiment as to whether he would finish ahead of a Verstappen piloted Aston Martin. Pretty sure he wouldn't.
He absolutely wouldn't.
Look how close Alonso (a good driver in the Aston) is to Checo (a shit driver in the Red Bull).
Daddy Stroll will have a decision to make at some point.
Genuinely chase a Drivers/Constructors Championship and give his son the boot. Or keep Lance around and accept the mediocrity.
Stroll snr was in F1 long before Lance was a driver, maybe even before he was alive. Putting his son in a seat is just a bonus.
De Vries out at AT apparently.
I hoped Liam Lawson might get a chance, but it looks to be the rather more prosaic option of Danny Ric.
Danny Ric confirmed in. Not sure I see the point, unless they're comparing him to Yuki.
About the most solid option they've got in their quest to get eyes on the team and/or off the bottom of the constructors championship (ie. become more marketable for a sale). Also the added benefit of a known yardstick with which to suss out Tsunoda if they fancy punting Checo.
I'll buy it. God, I'd love to own an F1 team. I'd spend all my time hunting comical sponsors that would blow up in my face, Rich Energy et al. I'd also make sure I always had a driver lineup of one dignified, long past-it veteran (think Pedro de la Rosa) and one comedy pay driver to balance the books. I'd bring in some laughable PR type, like the Mooch, to be team principal. I'd sack all the decent engineers and get crap ones to save costs. Then I'd call in a docu crew to capture the bin fire for posterity, and blame everyone else when we went out of business before Monaco. I can think of few things that would be more fun.
That would be grand if they sold it up.
That would need to be Chanoch Nissany:
His only Formula One session ended in a gravel trap after a spin. Despite this, he initially complained that the car had too much grip. Nissany reportedly forgot how to remove the steering wheel from his cockpit, and would remain seated in his beached car while marshals removed it with a crane.
Surely it's for him to be in at RB next year? I can't see Perez getting another season based on the past few races as Horner will be worrying if the car isn't as far ahead next season will they be winning the constructor's championship as well. I'm not sure they fancy Yuki enough to give that second seat to him after Kvyat, Albon and Gasly.
Lord Mahaveer in Floyd Motorsports F1 team. What a dream.
Do we think mclaren will be able to match their performance this weekend?
Hungary is a low speed corner track all around. The McLarens big boost was in the high speeds.
I'd expect Aston and Merc to be right into the podium fight behind Max.
Amateur hour.
Get me in
What's going on here then? Are they being forced to use the hard tyre in Q1?
It's becoming more and more of a joke this sport.
I like this strict corner cutting. This whole tyre thing seems OK so far too. Get rid of DRS and this should be great moving forward.
One-shot qualifying, one at a time would be interesting to see
Get in there Lewis.
Awaits track limits annulment.
Class. Norris in P3 rather than P2 is great as well
I'm almost nostalgic for this. If it wasn't for the fact Red Bull have 2-second pit stops, I'd be getting my hopes up.
Don't want to speak too soon, but it could be an actually good race.
Max will have it on race pace. He likely just made a mistake on his 2nd lap and we know they're way ahead in race trim.
Yeah, but the others are close enough to push him rather than him just trundling around managing his tyres. Or at least I hope they are.
That was good.
Is the sport back on track now then? Finally can stop lamenting.
I also notice Lewis did that without setting a purple sector, which if memory serves I'm sure Tory George did at the very same track last year.
Russell definitely did it last year like that but I’m surprised if Hamilton did purely for the fact he was over a tenth up going into the tj Al sector
This should be good. Come on lando son
This anthem is pish, sounds like something you'd hear at a funeral.
Hamilton
That was dreadful.
Hamilton got eaten alive in that first corner.
Alpine. Bloody hell lads
Can’t believe I got my hopes up again thinking anyone would come close to Verstappen.
