Do any of you still play GTA online?
If so, fancy causing some mayhem?
-
I never did, but I have it. Was it any good?
-
Yeah, its better now than when it first came online. Well worth playing Yev, but you'll need to build yourself up to buy the good stuff.
-
You'll hate jumping into it now Yev. You'd be too far behind and have to spend a hundred quid to avoid all the timers.
-
Can you play cross-platform?

There probably waiting to do that for GTAVI whenever that is.

It looks like GTA 6 could be set in Vice City and Rio. Which is a shame. I don't see the point in sticking with Vice City - far better to get soe new cities involved.
GTA VI: Saigon, would of course, be fucking awesome.
It is likely all bullshit.

Obviously being from South Florida I'm very biased but I'm fuckin HYPE.

Miami's just so flat to me. Give us as well, at least.

Couldn't find a GTA V thread. Picked this up again electronically cos had a hankering to play it and couldn't be arsed looking for the disc. Came with a load of money to use online too, apparently, although I only paid €8 for the lot.
Annoyingly my saved game seems to have been on PS4 so starting again, but at least it will help me pick up the buttons and remember the story, cos I remember absolutely hardly anything.
You still playing online @Bam? I'll play the story mode a bit to get the hang of the controls and then I've got over $4m to squander online.

Is it possible to pick up the original GTA III/VC for PC anywhere? Seems like Steam have binned it in favour of the Definitive Edition (the bundle with SA) but the PC minimum specs are ridiculously higher than the original and I've only got a (half decent) laptop.
Don't mind sailing the high seas if necessary.

I don't think so. Other sites like GoG never had them to start with. Probably better of emulating the PS2 versions, if that's an option. Not a clue what the old PC versions are like for compatibility.

Assuming said laptop has a disc drive, maybe better looking for a physical copy from somewhere like CeX?
-
The old versions aren't great either, I couldn't get my steam version of Vice City to a state I was willing to play. No mouselook in vehicles is harder to work around than I expected.

GTA VI trailer coming in December.
Could be game of the decade.
-
It'll be the only GTA game of the decade mind you.
I've seen some reports that they're going to put in in Q1 2025, which is still quite some time away. I do wonder what they've come up with this time. It was a long time ago now but the almost seamless switching between character perspectives was amazing for the time.

This is a bit rich coming from a Bethesda fanboy, but they need to seriously update the formula. I also don't want to play a movie.
-
They build some great worlds but I miss the days of an actual sandbox. Missions have been far too rigid since IV.
-
Yeah, that's my biggest issue with it. The ways you could do the missions in the games prior to that had some genuine creativity.
This pretty much nailed it for me:
-
Also I'm fed up with GTA's writing. It's shit satire. Very much America through the lens of two Scotsman who only went there to take reference photos.
-
The missions have been broadly the same since the very first game, there's only a few variations on the 'drive to the dots, kill the dots' formula. The big shame of 5 was how they wasted that incredible map on a load of multiplayer bollocks rather than the sort of expansions they did for 4. The writing has always been beyond puerile and it felt more and more out of place as they made the environments more realistic. Having said that I'll almost certainly get 6 and spend an inordinate amount of time shooting seagulls or finding jumps and being terrible at every type of flying available.
