    HOUSE/DANCE/EDM Music Thread

    Your search function is SHITE.

I'm sure there's one somewhere on the new board, but I can't find it so have this for now.

Listened to a small chunk of this last night on Radio 1 and it's awakened my need for house/dance music in my life.

So yeah, share some shit as I need long mixes in my life. And, in fact, if there is already an existing thread let's just sack it off as this one will be better.

Subsoul is pretty ace for a few new tracks.

Selfless promotion but this is a bud of mines work. It's pretty decent that being said.

Sound cloud is brilliant for all this that being said.

    Bodhi Collective worth a such. Favourite, as it was played a ton on our annual lad gathering was;

Last, actually. I'll offer a counterpoint if someone is recommending something I don't like in the TV thread or whatever, but find one example of me going into a thread about a specific subject just to call it shit. Just one will do.

I was going through a load of old music the other day actually and as a result Ten Walls - Walking with Elephants, Justin Martin - Don't Go, and Robosonic - Worst Love have all been on heavy rotation in my house since.

    Oh, that's me corrected then.

I'd genuinely like to get inside the mind of people who enjoy this though. I really can't see it. But then I'm not very musical in the first place.

Henry's a man who willingly runs marathons and speaks to Harold Flair. There's very little that he can say that's not laughable.

And ayo Simon, that track in the OP is some chill shit. I raise you some Redondo:

The slowly rising noodly guitar in that Redondo track had a period of being so ubiquitous that it basically played into the hands of the 'it all sounds the same' twats.

And nobody, anywhere, ever needs a remix of fucking Gabrielle.

Older than the stuff posted so far, but this is how it's done.

I'd be quite comfortable at this point naming Walking With Elephants as my favourite EDM tune ever.

I generally disliked dance music, but my mental dad is properly into the KLF, and now I fucking love them. I imagine they're a bit of a joke to actual EDM fans - kinda like someone's favourite indie band being the Kooks or something, but I'm a big fan. Anyone got recommendations of stuff of a similar ilk to their early, minimalist 'pure trance' stuff?

Also, their chill out album is my favourite comedown music, other than the lark ascending.

There should be more steel guitar in electronic music.

You've gone the opposite direction with my point about Gabrielle. I'm not saying her music should be a protected species, I'm saying that song is a turd that no amount of competent EDM polishing can salvage.

The best example of the slowly fading in guitar I mentioned upthread is definitely in Red Mystery - Jetlands (Ron Flatter and Nick D-Lite edit). Not because it's necessarily the best riff, but because it doesn't take a comically long time to fade in. That song is a fucking peach in general, actually. The lyrics are far more meaningful than most EDM tracks.

It's generally a bit more downtempo, but if you're enjoying that I'd imagine there's a fair bit of Burial you'll get along fine with.

    My favourite of theirs.

I'm not really sure how you can dislike that hook. You're an incredibly depressive person but surely even you can acknowledge that it's got quite a bit going for it in terms of pure warm energy.

I personally couldn't care less about lyrics in an EDM track, I'm there to dance to the music, not critically analyze it

And yeah, Aphex Twin is pretty unique. Boards of Canada capture his atmosphere, Burial captures his darkness, a lot of DnB captures his tempo and syncopation.

Boards of Canada are great, ROYGBIV is a hell of a tune. The fact I love it as someone who isn't that into dance music is probably saying something, though I'm not sure what exactly.

It's nice to have the occasional track that breaks ranks and does something different, and including some lyrics about suicide and the nature of the afterlife is a bit different.

Stay quiet and dance to some Blawan though. He won't trouble you with too many lyrics.

There's some of his stuff that might chime with Aphex Twin as well actually, Reg, but a lot of his stuff is pure techno so be prepared for an assault if you're not into that.

Even skimming the above track is enough to know it's not for me, tbh. Not a fan of techno.

Yeah, that wasn't one of the tracks I was suggesting would appeal. That's proper warehouse techno. There's a certain industrial sound that carries over into his less mental tracks though so if you've really taken against it then he probably isn't for you.

Autechre and Cylob will probably fit. Cylob in particular is basically a disciple of Aphex Twin.

Boddika playing over here in a month. One of the few decent DJs that bother to visit.

The production on that tune is atrocious. It sounds like it's been thrown together on a bootleg copy of Fruity Loops without the full sample package.
