Didn't he coin (or at least popularise) 'cost of living crisis'? That and the 'squeezed middle'. Fortunately Nick Clegg came along with 'alarm clock Britain' and then we could all just lol and ignore stagnation again.
Theresa May's Conservatives
Jeremy Corbyn's Labour
Tim Farron's Liberal Democrats
Paul Nuttall's UKIP
2 people's Greens
Nicholas Durgeon's Scottish Nationalists
Satan's Sinn Fein
Dr Ian Paisley's DUP
Some other bunch of nonces
I'm foreign, but I wish I were an Englishman

Alarm Clock Britain might be in the all time worst soundbites, along with D-Cam's 'Hug a Hoodie'.
Sunak 101
Mordaunt 83
Truss 64
Badenoch 49
Tugendhat 32
Braverman 27 (eliminated)
I see the knobheads are trying to swing behind Truss. Got to expect blood sport as they desperately try and get her through to the run off above Penny, today has been a sea of wall to wall Penny bashing.
Well at least Braverman is out early doors, the fucking nutter.
Not much more of the way, he's going out next. Penny will need his backers to see off the right wing surge.
So who’s left and who’s right here?
Which is weird anyway, because they’re all right, but whatever.
The ERG (right of the right) are trying to push Truss; Badenoch is also seen on that ground, as was Braverman. Sunak and Mordaunt supposedly more towards the big government centre, Tugendhat very much of the liberal centre.
Cool. Seems I’m one of those thirsty men on Team Penny then, because fuck having a manlet or one of Boris’ side acts as PM.
The Bravemaniacs should declare for her fella woman of colour and hope to pinch more momentum in the debates (which will be terrible). In the event that we end up with the shitheads going to the final three, I would take the awful Liz Truss and Taz a distant second. Mordaunt nowhere.
I don't see why Jacob et al wouldn't back Badenoch over Truss. The latter is demonstrably useless and a continuation of the previous regime, whereas Badenoch should at least get a honeymoon period (while Labour work out how to talk trash to a black woman) to get her through to inflation slowing down next year.
The appeal of Truss is that, just as she has misinterpreted Thatcherism, she will feel the need to be as right-wing as possible on everything so people forget that she used to be anything but. 'Rishi' would merely preside over the fantasy George Osborne ministry we never got in 2016, and Mordaunt is a Liberal Democrat.
Never name your kids after a boat. She was named after HMS Penelope – the first cruiser to be able to perform a complete about turn in her own length – a manoeuvre she once joked she hoped she'd never have to deploy in her political life.
Primeminister Boaty McBoat Face.
Trojan boat.
Ah gotcha. So she's still a super right wing psychopath.
That lot (the Toby Young crew) have diseased brains. I'm not even sure what's brought it on, as they're all doing quite well in life.
Ready for the “Yeah buts…”
He seems strong, although loses points for using "cost of living crisis".
Everytime I hear her speak I think more and more that she has a touch of the May about her. This is beside the fact that I think she is massively incompetent, I checked the other day and even if everyone who voted Lib/Lab in my area tactically voted she'd still comfortably win so I think unless she wins this and then tanks I'm stuck with her as my MP for a very long time.
Truss is crap at this, but she only really has to beat Mordaunt who is even worse.
Sunak is doing better than I expected, standing in the middle like the big man as well.
Tugendhat actually seems like someone I could respect. Disagree with obviously, but respect.
Why wouldn't Badenoch just pay for private dental work if she needs it? Freeloading immigrant.
A manlet standing tall amongst the rest of them. A perfect metaphor for the Conservative Party.
If Truss wins they will get wiped out even by Starmer. I hope they know that (they don't).
Hopefully so. 14/15 years of one party is too long and the last 6 years post Brexit have been fucking disastrous for them as a party.
I keep seeing t suggested that their are big benefits to not being in the EU. Fine show me what they fucking are because at the minute it’s been 2.5 years and I don’t see any and all that’s been achieved is pissing off top Ireland.
Vaccine procurement was an obvious one. It's a good example of how, if you have smart people making the decisions, you can be more nimble outside bloated institutions than inside them.
We could still have done our own vaccine procurement within the European Union, but obviously we wouldn't have.
'Look, what we're saying is that, yes, of course we could have devised our own vaccination policies and potentially saved more lives; but with our European friends and allies we stand a much better...'
*doing that weird thumb on the index finger gesture*
Everything about her and the way key 'figures of the right' (including the laughable Frost) are pushing her is a bit sinister.
If Truss wins we'll all be dead or reenacting Threads by Christmas.
Boris giving it the “lefties” and “deep state” nonsense in the Commons tonight. British politics takes another lurch into the gutters.
The only respectable 2 candidates gone (both of a certain demographic) to leave Rishi, Kemi and 2 power sisters. It's like the John Lewis xmas adverts, shoving it in our faces
Tug has been toppled
Looks like it's a toss-up between Truss and Sunak.
I'm gutted I didn't pile into Liz yesterday, she will win easily with the Marks & Spencer cardigan crowd.
The economy destroying Manlet or the war hawk Thatcher Cosplay. What a sad state of affairs.
I saw a picture of Starmer the other day wearing a polo shirt, and he didn't even fill the sleeves. What a parade of weaklings.
Who's topbod in the Army these days (below Royalty)? A Coup would come in handy right now.
