I saw someone riding a bike with a facemask on today.
Just gonna leave that there.
Getting to the stage that they need to be phased back in, so Scotland are probably correct.
Was it you on the bike Giggles?
I’d think the simplest explanation for the cyclist (and many masked motorists I see on their own in a car) is that when you’re not militant about it you actually forget you’re wearing one. They’re the easiest measure of all but many just can’t handle being told they should do something, which is a real pity.
It was noticeable going to Portugal last weekend that they are still big time on the masks everywhere, and then I realised it's Catholicism, isn't it. Deep-seated reverence of pointless symbols to keep the population under control, rather than allowing each to worship as he will.
Was the cyclist on the road? I've seen cyclists pre-pandemic wearing masks presumably to avoid inhaling exhaust fumes.
At this point they are a complete waste of time, proven by Scotland's current stance on them coupled with their horrific infection rates, which are worse than England's (which are also higher than they've ever been).
One of the major frustrations during the pandemic was the almost complete inability for people to keep up with where the situation currently was and tailor the response accordingly. Seems old habits die hard.
I saw a masked cyclist the other day. They also had about 10 layers of clothes too many on and were having to push their bike up a moderate incline whilst looking on the brink of death. I often do wonder about the pollution thing, but then that leads you down dangerous rabbitholes.
Unless we're going all out against all respiratory viruses forever then keeping 'restrictions' in place for something which is almost literally a mild cold at this point [Omicron BA.2 or whatever it is called] seems a bit authoritarian.
Thankfully they're going to stop doling out the free tests soon, so once we work through the inevitable stockpiles that the lunatic daily testers will have no doubt amassed it should be plain sailing in terms of case numbers. We gave up reporting them daily ages ago and it was a fairly genius move.
I've noticed some irregular heart behaviour. I don't think it's anything that probably wasn't there during/immediately after first couple of bouts but it'd be pretty sweet if this thing has a cumulative effect on the heart that will have everyone flopping dead in the coming years.
Would explain why China seem desperate to keep this thing at zero.
No one gave a shit about masks in Mexico and we still have pictures of John Paul II everywhere.
'If you cannae do unmasking you're a Tim!'
Jimmy Krankie strikes again.
The year is 2025- 'It's just another 2 weeks'
Yeah just absolute nonsense. Jimmy is confirmation bias the personality.
What’s everyone’s LFT and PCR count so far then?
I’m on four LFTs and no PCRs.
Heading offshore at the end of the month and concerned that’ll send my numbers rocketing up, but for now - I think I’ve held back nicely.
Fucking annoying to still have to wear a mask in the supermarket or office though. I’ve abandoned it in the gym, as have about 80% of people.
No LFT's up to now and 2 PCR's.
Although I think I finally have it now (it's either that or heart disease), so I'll be doing my first LFT tomorrow.
Maybe 6 PCRs and probably 3 LFTs.
I'm a twit
I did my first antigens when I got the positive PCR just to see when I’d show up on the former. I’ve only done one since, a couple of weeks ago so I could visit the wife in hospital.
A couple of PCRs to get home from Germany.
I'd wager I'm probably past the 20 mark on LFTs. Mostly for work, travel or seeing the old folks. I've done a couple for symptoms which just felt pointless.
Also, I can trump Yevrah's cyclist by a mile. Last week I saw someone with a masked dog. U.S. Fucking A.
Can we get a pools bet on how many months it takes for Shindig to stop telling us that he went on holiday once?
2 PCR's and about 5 LFT's.
I do a LFT a week for work, and I’ve had I think 3 PCR’s.
Woke up feeling crappy so did a LFT…. I’ve got it for the second time. Mostly annoyed cos it’s my friends sons christening at the weekend and I was excited to see all ‘the lads’ and won’t get to now.
I don't think I've done an abnormally high number of tests over the past few years (less than 30 lfts) but I've definitely had what feels like the most variations. From it being stuck up to the back of your nose to just spitting in an envelope, seems to be no consistency on what is required to get a sample.
In Specsavers they are still wearing masks and asking people to put any specs they try on in a box for cleaning before they return to the shelves.
Opticians are usually full of fossils so makes sense they'd be the last remnants of COVID really.
To be fair, they are right in your face like a dentist for at least 30 minutes.
But trying on glasses for a few seconds? I thought catching it from touching surfaces was debunked years ago?
There's an old tabloid saying "being first is more important than being right". It's true too, because it really does stick. It's how conspiracy theories work.
DEFRA's just stuck a letter through my door about avian flu cases in the area.
Our office protocols are all going south tomorrow. Glorious.
I was mandated to take weekly PCRs for a while early in the pandemic. I probably did it four or five times before sacking it off. My wife would get emails telling her she was out of compliance but I didn't. I also never sent them proof of vaccination (vaccines were also mandatory as soon as they were available) and never got shit for it. So much for mandatory stuff.
After that, just the two to fly to and from France. Never had any of those lateral flow ones.
Found Magic.

Technically we are all losing our youth day by day.
Most of us have probably lost it already.
