One less thing to fill in on my way back. Cool. All I've got to worry about now are the scorpions.

But Novak, I thought you recovered from the virus and had the paperwork to prove it?

You're making about as much sense as the rules.
There's no recovery exemption in the US currently. Vaccinated or you're not coming in.
I thought they did but it seems the recovery bit covers only vaccinated folks.
Nurse John is now anti-vax.
Anyone that thinks the vaccines were a bad thing are mongs beyond words.
I think you can definitely see the effect of the booster doses wearing off now, everyone seems to be getting it [not me yet] but as far as I can tell the sky hasn't fallen as a consequence as some feared.
It never stopped people getting it though, it stopped people getting it from getting sicker than they needed to.
I think the main problem John has is he sees the numbers and goes, "SCANDALOUS. WE SHOULD HAVE THIS DATA TO PROVIDE PERSONALISED CARE. HOW DO THEY CALL THIS SAFE." When the US numbers equate to a 0.04% incidence rate. If you've got a vaccine that's 99.96% successful, you consider it safe enough. As for the personalised care argument, the list of complications are so scattershot there's no real pattern to them in February 2021.
Next booster must be due fairly soon actually. Or are they canning it because of the newest one?
I figured they'd be out in the Autumn for the oldies.
A fourth dose rolling out next month for the fossils.
Unless it's an Omicron specific jab, we're in the land of diminishing returns.
I don't think that's quite right. There was obviously a sliding scale of efficacy [or whatever the word is] in terms of preventing severe disease [high], symptomatic infection [medium/high], all infection [medium - less discernible obviously] and then transmission [medium/low] but they absolutely did stop people getting it to a decent extent and the idea that there was a rapid drop off after 10-12 weeks would, from a layman's perspective, appear to be what we are now seeing/experiencing.

Vindication marching ever closer.
Desperate.
Just let the thread die you mongs.
Where else will magic jump up and down for attention then?
On his MongsNet forum.

Quick question, Tim. How? I know you provide localised data but so does the fucking government."We strongly believe that this is a really bad mistake. Zoe could have been the tool that protects the UK from the next pandemic and saves the NHS millions as we try to find ways to prevent major diseases."
Self-preservation.
Had a PCR test today cos I’ve had a cold for like 4 weeks. Can still taste and smell though so presume it’ll be negative.
Means I can speak to the doctor and not be fobbed off, hopefully.
I'm a twit
The numbers in my circles coming down with it are pretty high currently. There's been a couple at work who have seemingly been hit with it pretty bad even though they're young. I can't see it with the summer sun on the way but there's glimmers of hope...
There are loads off at my spot, where everyone gets full pay to isolate. My wife's spot, there are zero cases due to the management saying you take it as holiday or unpaid. Funny that.
Yeah, people choosing to work if they can't eat. What a shitty company your wife works for.
They're all driving 71 plate cars and no-one gives a shit about Covid now meanwhile train drivers want to work from home
It’s all over the news that hospital cases have gone from around 600 to 1100 in a few days. Then they just casually gloss over at the end that 500-odd of those are in with something else and just tested positive while they were there.
It's been that way the whole way through. The most effective Covid strategy would have been shutting the hospitals.
To see this rip through China now after all their lies and attempts at zero Covid will be a lovely bit of karma. Especially with just how shite their vaccines are by all accounts.
Sturgeon delaying again.
The 'It's just for another 2 weeks crowd' can fuck off.
Meanwhile, in free England, masks are being done away with in airports/on planes.
And now, the end is near, and so the face, mask rules are curtains.
I heard the NEW VARIANT KLAXON on the radio this morning. As infectious as Measles apparently. I might need to start a new twitter account just to see how Deepti is taking this.
We're already being told that WE HAVEN'T BEEN CAREFUL ENOUGH and that some MANDATORY RESTRICTIONS may need to be brought back.
Just fuck off. This thing is done.
I don't know where this new variant is coming from and I've reached the point where I'm not even going to look, but as with South Africa, 5 minutes looking at what their scientists are saying should be enough to tell you whether it's a worry or not.
Toggle Spoiler
I don't think they could walk this back even if there was a legitimate variant worth worrying about now. Nobody gives a fuck any more. Can't remember the last time I saw a mask. The distance markers in shops are just faded peeling relics.
I muted the word variant on Twitter around the time of omicron so I won't worry about it until if/when it's panic stations.
230k daily cases, hospitalisations creeping up, vaccine rollouts unlikely, I better be back in WFH after summer.
230k is for three days and fourth doses start next Monday but whatever.
Exactly 2 years to the day we were sent home and never been back. Glorious
Are your “hospitalisations” the same as ours where everyone in for anything at all gets tested and then their broken arm or hernia goes down as one.
Yep.
About half here according to this just now.
Had a funny feeling throat last couple of days and tested a faint positive today. Triple crown
I'm supposed to be going to Paris in 3 weeks, and they've only just done away with all of their 'health pass' shit, so if this 'new wave' of shitheads testing themselves to skive off work could kindly fuck off it would be appreciated. Obvious exception for Mellin and his important work.
Ah, you can probably fiddle that. I've just done a test because this week's cold was still hanging around. According to the almighty control line, it was just a cold. So there's two negative tests I can file away to get me into the office. And I guess my conscience is clear having wandered around a hotel full of guests and went to places full of people. Bastards.A sworn statement (déclaration sur l’honneur) self-certifying you’re not suffering from COVID-19 symptoms and haven’t been in contact with confirmed cases in the 14 days prior to travel.

Yeah, I'm not worried about that. What sort of madness is that anyway? Pretty sure it is impossible to actually make that statement anywhere in the world.
Just as long as they don't make me go to a pharmacy to get my QR accreditation thing frenchified, as was the case, or worse.
Yeah, the US requirements at least made a bit more sense. Proof of vaccination, proof of negative test and a form to say you have provided both to an airline official.
Come to think of it, I've had some airport bollocks this week.
1. The lad at Newcastle check-out couldn't produce the boarding pass for the third leg of my trip over there. No bother, I'll just check-in at Seattle and get it there.
2. I kept placing my boarding pass and passport on my case. "I'd better keep an eye on this so I don't lose this.", I thought to myself. Seconds later, lost this in Heathrow. Luckily some legend picked it up and took it to the gate. Crisis averted.
3. The CDC don't like valve masks. Luckily they were handing disposables at the gate. Still at Heathrow.
4. Third leg of the trip over was a flight to SFO with Alaska Airlines. I had a four hour wait for the flight and thought I was being smart by going to the BA desk as they sold me the ticket. At very least I'd get an Alaska flight number. Nope. They directed me to American Airlines as they couldn't find it on their system. American Airlines finds me the flight number and off I go to the Alaska Airline desks. They're packed, all families. Most of them with car seats they're desperate to check in. Once I get there, I finally get my boarding pass but it takes a supervisor overlooking a trainee to find me.
5. On to security at Seattle. The lass working the x-ray doesn't like my canvas bag and wants me to empty it. She suggests its full of needles. It is not. I don't even empty it. I just zip it up and send it back through. Back off, Courtney Love.
6. Customs is empty. I stroll on through within minutes. This leaves me with 3 hours of nothing but listening to service announcements featuring the bloke from Modest Mouse.
7. Good news! The flight is full. I decide to draw the short straw and get my cabin bag checked. Crucially, they tell everyone how many bags they're looking for and they get the magic number at the first time of asking.
8. Heathrow, nearly home. Passport control is packed and they've turned off all but one of the terminals. The remaining terminal is broke and is maybe letting every 5th person through. Backlogged to fuck, they open the other terminals and I manage to get through on one of them. The downside is I've now been funnelled landside and need to pass through security the long way round. This is why I hate random airport staff waving you through places you don't quite need to be in.
9. Good news! The flight to Newcastle is full! This time the gate attendant is all polite about it and nobody takes up the offer to check cabin bags. So boarding commences and they just grab randoms out of the first few boarding groups. Our flight is now late departing by ten minutes. Boydy would be seething.

I went through France recently and the only thing you had to do was pinky swear you didn't have COVID.
