I think they would be lifted next Wednesday (the next review date) regardless, but putting it out to the media last night and bringing forward the Cabinet decision to today is definitely a play to at least deflect some of the headlines.
Yeah, agree with you on that.
This charade with Sue Gray should end ASAP and an actual police investigation should take place.
You would quite happily lamp any coppers stopping you seeing your dead parent. Then again, seeing as they increasingly only police people who won't push them back it probably wouldn't come to that.
Just punt the cunt out of office and call it a day. There's zero point in Sue Gray or asking Cressida Prick to have a look at it. Fuck all will happen.
The Sue Gray report will be a whitewash. She will blame office culture and civil servants. We're all waiting for Boris to be crucified by it but she won't name him personally.
I don't think the police investigate historic crimes.
I’m in a Telegram group for a Kodi addon that has loads of wrestling stuff on (WOD) and I use it to watch all my AEW, but the guy who runs it keeps posting antivax propaganda in the group. It takes a lot of strength to not call him out on it, cos I don’t wanna lose access to such a wealthy source of wrestling.
I'm a twit
On this, tbf I've never seen the logic of all the bleating about the police not investigating it - they've been consistent in saying they don't investigate historic breaches of the Coronavirus Act. For them to investigate this one only would be far more political than not to do so.
One of the worst, if not the worst thing we did was not letting people see their dying relatives and not letting them hold funerals. That was just downright fucked up.
Double Patricks Day bank holiday this year and a new one in Feb from next year on
They'll need the pubs open properly for a double paddys day though.

That's not a sentiment I've heard literally anywhere. There's plenty of people who are furious that they couldn't see their dying parents because of the rules whilst Boris and the lads were getting pissed in the garden of number 10, but that's an entirely different thing.
It will be absolutely absurd if they get away with this. If it were a bunch of ITU doctors and nurses who'd held a piss-up in hospital grounds after a terrible shift they'd have all been strung up, and they were going through a lot worse than anyone in the government.
Deepti's timeline today is proper cornered tiger stuff. You love to see it.
Are we still lolling at the recently departed?
Sounds well dodgy though.
Part of the problem with vaccine passports, that. The real needle dodgers will just get ill on purpose and some of them will die because of it.
Vaccine Passports will be looked back on as a cock up in the future. There's no actual reason for them or benefit provided by them.
All of this talk of isolation down to 5 days, but does anyone ever test negative before Day 10? Day 6 for me and the positive line is dark and massive. Day 8 for my wife and her's was like that yesterday so guessing will still be positive today.
That definitely won't backfire.
Why would it backfire? She'll go in, infect everyone and get dedicated one-to-one teaching time. It's perfect.
My line was barely visible on day 5, and disappeared by 6 and 7. My sister was still getting an almost maroon line on day 10.
We (Vietnam) have a 9 day holiday coming up with 90% of the population returning to their hometowns, and Omicron slowly seeping in (currently about 200 cases), fully expect to return early February to about 68 thousand million cases.
So this move to end the legal isolation rules when they expire [or sooner], is that essentially declaring the pandemic over? Covid becomes a normal, everyday illness?
But it's very dangerous so everyone will still be getting their quarterly boosters.
At least it's brought healthcare capacity issues into the mainstream. The NHS gets fucked every winter anyway. My wife is a masochist for going back every day.
The problem with the police now is they have stripped out everything that once made it an attractive career so you get the dregs applying because anyone capable enough to be a decent copper lols at the salary.
Bar stool soon
Heh. Only 14% lateral flow tests have actually had their results recorded with the NHS.
I'm not surprised, it was an ordeal. Having to go through everywhere I've been, who I've seen and where I might have caught it in tick box form took fucking ages. And they haven't stopped texting me since.
Surely that's just because most people who get a positive lft will go get a pcr? And no one's reporting negative lfts.
You can't get a confirmatory PCR any more, can you?
I don't really think you'd be doing anything (ethically) wrong if you had a positive LFT and didn't report it but booked a PCR and isolated until the result of that confirmed it.
(When you could get a PCR after a positive LFT).
I thought you still had to go for a PCR even after a positive LFT? A few folk I knew over Christmas were negative with them and positive on the PCR.
Not that I’d bother with that hassle, like, but I thought that was the rules.
Asking for a friend, are you [legally?] required to report a positive LFT in the UK?
