There's the breakdowns. Granted, there's not much between them. Dementia does 12%, Ischaemic heart disease does 10%, Covid does 7% ish.

It's a matter of degrees isn't it. If there's literally 0 available staff and you're deciding between a person who's 5 days post and one who's 3 days post, then obviously 5 days. If you're talking (as the scenario realistically usually is) choosing between being short-staffed or having someone 5 days post, then I'd choose to be short-staffed.
Brings a tear to the eye. There is nothing in the current Covid data to suggest new curbs are needed in England at this stage, ministers say.
It's one of the problems I've had to deal with on the phones at work. We cancelled on some bloke because the HP was unavailable to the assessment and during the phone call he says, "Well, this has been going on for two years. Surely you have a contingency plan?" I wasn't going to tell him that a four month wait for an assessment was two months ahead of most or that we always have problems retaining HPs. Turns out assessing claimants will always burn people out. And it's not like you can pick someone off the street to do that.
2 new pages?
I’ve only skimmed so not paid much attention but did Yev really say he thinks you have to be coughing and spluttering to be contagious?
It’s more a case of not wanting to at this stage because you get so uptight about it. Utter yeast infection is definitely getting robbed though
BBC News - Covid: Workplaces told to plan for absences of up to 25%

"Well, unfortunately, you're cleared to go into the office." The testers at work crack this classic every time I come in.
I'm relieved partly as I'd have felt a right dick having to let my SLT know that I was positive again just a month after my last one. From an academic point of view, the start of December was a pretty good time to be off; the start of January would have been a bit of a nightmare.
Our economy and public services are falling apart because of the 10 day isolation thing.
Had my booster today and it was another moderna.
Fuck off.
Was reliably informed by my pals they got Pfizer.
RIP tomorrow.
They’re pretty much the same thing aren’t they?
Anecdotally the moderna and pfizer side effects seem to be much of a muchness.
I got my booster and had zero effect. Not even a sore arm.
Give it a few weeks to see how the heart reacts but hopefully literally zero effect.
Hopefully. Will keep you posted.
Got the Pfizer booster this morning and it was packed with only a skeleton crew on I was in and out in 4 hours.
Telling us to avoid shopping if possible yet opening schools tomorrow
Aye, who needs education?
Can't have all those low risk kids posing a threat to pensioners. Only fair they sacrifice their futures so Doris can reach 90.
Quite. 2 years of disruption for the little vectors is clearly not enough.
Aren't grandparents usually the first stop when you ask for childcare at short notice?
Oh. Wonder if they made much from that?
Have kids earlier then.
I never understood why folk have kids after like 35 ish. Imagine going for your pint at 18 with your old man and he’s nearly got a bus pass.
My Brother in Law was 40 when they had their last one. Mental.
A few of my mates at school had parents well into their 60s when they were half way through high school. Had older brothers/sisters double their age too. Fook that so much
For those cleverer than me (not many of you I'm sure we'd all agree), why is it that I've not caught covid but my wife and child have?
I ask as I've not yet had the 'all important' booster and I seem to be avoiding it at every turn despite not isolating, etc.
I drew the line once I passed 30. Even that would have probably been too old for me.
My missus seems to be the only teacher in her schools not to have caught it even though she’s doing supply and hopping from one class to the other. I put it down to her having to proper Covid last year (jabs too etc) and thus having too good of an immune system for this fake one going around atm
