I'm not sure being responsible for FIFA should be considered a good thing, they've pioneered some of the worst practices in the entire industry.
Madden isn't responsible for the FIFA games.
Fifa came about as a result of the Madden games.
I think FIFA games would still have come out regardless.
That's why I said "Or atleast they wouldn't be as they are now". They would have made some kind of game, but god only knows how good or bad it would have been and what road they would have taken from there.
We could have ended up in an International Superstar Soccer dominant universe.

FIFA is basically a big sticker album now that has a side soccer game built in. Absolute magnet for idiots.
Sadly so. The Alex Hunter thing was good, but I think I'm right in that it's now gone back to just the dull career mode if you want to do anything other than the Untimate Team shite?
The Alex Hunter thing was shit, the story was far too boring.
The main modes are career (I think it's just a reskin every year, with no changes), Ultimate Team and VOLTA (street 3v3 football thing for the kids).
"Go on Alex. 'cor blimey, you can football." Goal had a more impressive plot and that starred a 45 year old Anna Friel trying to play a teenager.
I have FIFA this year for the first time in over a decade. It's a good game in terms of the actual football. The Ultimate Team stuff is incomprehensible garbage, probably aimed at exploiting children as far as I can see. As an average to poor player I enjoy the career mode playing on 'professional' AI, gives me the sometimes-win-sometimes-lose challenge that makes it fun.
When I say it was good, you have to read "good" with the understanding that I bought it every year for about 4 years and must have played each version for about 10 hours over the year.
The Alex Hunter Stuff had me playing every evening for a couple of weeks, then I got bored again. I miss my childhood ability of being able to play "Road to the World Cup" for a solid year without tiring of it.
Fuck Fifa and Fuck EA Sports
I won't go into it again as I vented my spleen enough in the relevant thread but I thought the most recent version of FIFA I played was a really quite poor football game. Even taking aside all the horseshit they've draped around it which is now basically the game and it's all built for gambling addicts.
Agree with the view that Fifa is a bit shit these days, but I think this is more to-do with us getting old rather than the game itself.
I went back to PES today and bumped it up to Superstar. The thing that kind of takes the wind out of my sails is how Top Player now feels a touch too easy. Superstar still feels like a fuck you. Losing games on the counter whilst you've not got enough space to put chances away. In the absence of a proper new one, this will have to do.
I got quite into ultimate team for a few years there, but a couple of years away is enough to look back and think what the fuck was I thinking. I remember my IRL mate telling me in detail how easy it was to make money if you just spent about 5 hours a day on the web app tracking players like a stockbroker and I thought I might have to get him sectioned.
If I had a child and I caught them watching FUT pack opening videos I'd put them up for adoption.
Even if there was credible competition, you're asking them to break the habit of a lifetime. If you grow up playing FIFA, you expect FIFA things. Vice versa with Pro Evo.
Betty White
I thought she died a couple of years back.
Cursed her they did.
No points for her anyway, so who cares.
