Boris is using these diversionary tactics wonderfully. So is turdgeon as well as her SUPER HOSPITAL keeps killing kids.
Bovid.
I'm still seething "Fauxvid" didn't catch on.
What's the cost per unit of these LFTs? All I can find on google is govt refusing to disclose it which I'm sure allays Yev's suspicions but it would be a joy to note.
I should probably know by now, but are the LFT's the ones you do yourself or the ones that go to the lab?
If it's the latter then it will be really interesting to see where the Government go from here without case data.
Do yourself.
Wonder if the £37 billion track and trace is now the £37 billion vaccine passport system.
And also the ones our doctors and nurses were relying on early doors and why over half the deaths from this have come from people who caught it in a care environment.
Their accuracy is shocking, we know it's shocking and yet we're still pushing them hugely.
Don, this reckons £8 a time for the Welsh. I do not know of the validity of this particular publication.
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/w...-cost-20937588
If it is true and the other bits below are too, fucking lol:
This has to be the most colossal waste of money in all of human history. I thought HS2 was fucking shit, but at least there's an actual train line at the end of it.There have been 2,655,667 "recorded tests in Wales" since January 1 according to PHW.
If they cost £8 each then this is a cost of £21,245,336.
Of those tests 2,383 have come back positive.
This means that it has cost £8,915 for every positive test.
They can't be the same as the antigen tests we do here at that sort of money. I thought they were the same thing under a different name.
£8 each?
I've got about 60 quid worth in the bathroom cupboard. How the fuck do they cost that much?
Surely it'll be under £1 given what they are but if it's anything over £1, I'm lolling all over the gaff.
UK numbers, assume these are all tests and that PCR's must cost more than £8.
369,208,867 tests
10,819,515 positives
https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/testing
https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/cases
So if it is £8 for each of the UK tests (presumably like I said it'll be more), we've spent £3bn on them, with a hit rate of less than 3%.
Utter madness.
Can't wait to see some of the accounts of these contract winners.![]()
Because people are profiteering from this on an industrial scale - the one I had to buy in order to get back into the country after visiting Italy cost me £19.50 and that doesn't even include delivery. I appreciate I bought that from a commercial seller and government costs will be much less, but these things will absolutely cost pennies to make. Was fascinating to me to see that until we'd run out tests we were going for testing every day ahead of isolating. Tests that don't work with any reasonable degree of accuracy.
Do you start to see now why I'm increasingly convinced why it's money oiling the wheels of this?
I'd imagine by and large the companies involved will be of a size that you won't be able to segregate their cost of sales and possibly even their sales of tests from their other activities.
Etc.A year of robust underlying trading was boosted significantly by an increase in demand for lateral flow tests.

I've got loads of LFTs and can't even test myself for 90 days.
How's that? My daughter had it, picked up by lft, and she's been doing them, and getting negs (only had it early October). I'm not sure they're as shit as made out. Think ours cost something like £17 for 5 (this was the line when a £25 charge was placed on them for arriving travellers - £8 admin fee). Still a monumental waste.
Whether they work is a different measure versus whether 3% is the right number of positive tests you should be getting.
My comment was more to do with the posts above yours regarding their utility if you have had it.
I'm mainly going for the metric that they don't really appear to be doing that much - we still have (and have always had outside of lockdowns) rampant transmission in the population and that (LFT's specifically) were an active danger when being used by medical professionals getting back on the job. They may well be still for that matter - I haven't checked lately how many people are catching it in hospitals these days.
I think they probably work very well in authoritarian led countries with willingly compliant populations, but here? Not so much.
Kiko's trigger happy defending of this entire shambles is a joy to behold.
The point of the 3%, and I should have been clearer, is really back to my experience where I was strongly recommended to go and get a PCR test on the back of next to nothing. I wonder how often that happens and how many tests are being done needlessly. Still, I suppose if we've paid for them we may as well use them.
Probably poorly worded but PCR is basically just to confirm when you are showing symptoms. Antigen is to catch when you're not symptomatic. You can stop the spread of the virus earlier because you've flagged it through the antigen.
Of course, but last time I checked we had a virus that (outside of lockdowns) is still spreading like wildfire despite administering 370m tests. i.e. the testing strategy isn't working here. If you lock everyone in their homes (ala China) and then test everyone, I'm sure it works wonderfully.

Good piece that to clarify matters. Either ignore their result or take a lot more of them.
The UK government has always stressed that people with Covid symptoms should seek a PCR test, rather than relying on a LFT. Yet, it still defines these symptoms as a high temperature, new, continuous cough and/or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – despite widespread evidence that headaches, fatigue, a sore throat or runny nose are also common Covid symptoms.

Yev:
We're going full EU.
I’m team bovid.
Inevitable really, another step on the road to mandating vaccines and annual boosters. In the meantime - don't want your kid to get a vaccine? Try taking him to the football now fucker.
University's president just announced that our students will be required to take the booster to be able to enroll next semester. Because 18-21 year olds are in such great danger.![]()
The people they come into contact with, on the other hand...
But the risk is reduced, therefore it's worth doing.
If you're pro-Bovid you've 100% got an agenda, it's pretty predictable what it is as well if you know anything about the person.
A few professors did threaten to sue the university if they were not allowed to teach remotely. They were obviously lolled off the park.
