My experience with VAR is it always gives the same decisions. Every possible offside is confirmed as offside and every potential penalty ends up being a foul, it's just a case of whether it was in the box or not. Complete waste of time.
Sounds like last season.
I'm a twit
Struggled to beat Spain but we managed to make it 3-2 with 5 minutes left and then it was fairly easy against Italy.
Here's how THE LIST stands now:
FIFA Club World Cup
UEFA Champions League
UEFA Europa League
UEFA Super Cup
African Champions League
Copa Libertadores
O-League (Oceanic Champions League)
Asian Champions League
North American Champions League
International competitions:
FIFA World Cup
Olympics
UEFA European Championship
Nations League
African Cup of Nations
Copa America
Oceanic Nations Cup
Asian Nations Cup
The caretaker manager at United actually won the Champions League (annoying as I'd have liked to have gone for the Europa) so I've got a chance at the Super Cup this season. Will stay and try for the Club World Cup which is just over 2 years away too.
After the disappointment in the Champions League final we secured the league and cup double and moved into the top 10 of the South African Hall of Fame.
The board have given me a transfer budget of £2.7m for next season, so even though my contract is running down and I'm actively looking for other roles, staying might not be the worst thing in the World.
Oooh, they have some form of explanation now.
It's all coming back to me how wank it is managing in the MLS. On the plus side we were second favourites for the title before the season started, so there may be an opportunity to bag a quick trophy then get the hell out of here.
On the further downside, one of my designated players is this mess:
Look at the state of him.
I've signed some players and it's become even more apparent why the MLS is awful.
Why does that squad salary say I've selected £90k's worth of actual spend when it's more than that?
Why does it not drop at all when I de-select Carlos Vela?
Why are some players I've bought greyed to 'Out' and I seemingly can't select them no matter what?
How do transfer fees count towards the cap?
Shambles.
Yeah I couldn't get my head round it fully when I was managing Toronto. I had a similar thing regarding registration so I just went on holiday for a day and let the AI sort it.
Did you end up with players you wanted to play not being selected though?
Craig Peacock's earning his money there. I've tried MLS once that I remember and couldn't get the hang of it enough to stick it out
'DP' is a designated player i.e. a 'star' whose wages don't count towards the cap. Not sure how many of them are allowed these days but it looks as if you have three of them.
I had an enjoyable game with Seattle once and did get my head around it, the only thing that made it a bit shit was that the draft wasn't properly implemented and all the college regens were dogshit, so after a few years it became a bit odd. Not sure if they've sorted that out by now.
Also unlike the legendary African CL, the NACL is a terrible competition.

Designated players are the easy bit Jim and some of their salary does count, but only the first £11k or £5.5k.
Checked out the NACL and it does indeed look a bit lame.
I also stumbled across what I think might be the new format for the World Club Championship, which makes you realise FIFA/UEFA's inertia led indirectly to Super League proposals.
Is that the mega 10 groups of 3 or something silly?
It is indeed.
Apparently they're going to run it every 4 years instead of the Confederations Cup (guess the brown envelopes from that have dried up). Current edition has been postponed due to COVID and the next will be in 2025. Not sure whether it gets even more crazy by that point, but I liked the idea of it tbh.
Although 10 groups of 3 is shit. Just have 32 teams in it and do 8 groups of 4.
Also, the Champions League, Europa League and UEFA Conference League qualification and moving between them looks like a complete mess and that's even before you add in the abomination that the Champions League is about to become.
Honestly, these people do not have a clue how to run a global or European game. Almost any sports promoter you could suggest would do a better job.
Here's UEFA explaining the Europa Conference League qualification.
https://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaconferenceleague/about/
In all, 184 teams will be involved over the course of the season including at least one from each of the 55 associations and 46 clubs transferring from either the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League.
Ah, can't forget the access list. Here it is in all its glory...Before the group stage there will be three qualifying rounds and a play-off round (split into a main path, and a champions path for those transferring from the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League champions path). The access list explains which teams (including some national cup winners) enter from which associations and in which rounds, as well as how clubs transfer from the other competitions.

What in the actual fuck is that?
Cheers Mahow, just done the same and it worked a treat. Well, bar for those who were greyed 'Out'.
This chap was on loan at Nashville and becomes the biggest signing of my career so far at £10m from Toulouse. First wonderkid too.
Doesn't even count as a designated player either. I couldn't offer him a contract without making him one, but as I have three already he went through as a senior player only. Means I can bin Vela off and get a heavy hitter to replace him.
Is Rossi still around, @Yevrah?
Also, I find NewGan face pack tool really useful. Very quick to add real faces to regens.

He retired in 2021 after slumming it in Poland for a bit and is now looking for Head of Youth Development roles.
He's a very good player. Just joined Fenerbahce on loan, IRL
You bringing that sithifrican defender over?
I'm a twit
Hoping to, although I can't sign him for another year and a half (when he hits 18). Not sure I want to be in the MLS that long either, so might wait for the next club.
God I used to love the US Open Cup. Proper madhouse competition, in a country famed for its closed off leagues and oligarchical sports systems, that you then suddenly find yourself playing the Chattanooga Red Wolves or Des Moines Menace for a place in the last 16.
Imagine coming up against Albert Edward
We've just slipped outside of the playoff spots after a run against so many teams above us, the players are unhappy as I wouldn't give one of their mates a Des contract and the board are giving me an E rating. I do believe I'm about to get sacked.
Am I right in thinking a US Open win gets you a Champions League spot?
I was actually talking to him tonight about Rossi... which prompted the question to you
If I remember correctly, qualifying for the Champions League really screws with MLS fixture congestion, or at least it did on FM20. And, as you'll soon notice, the players coming through the SuperDraft tend to be absolute garbage.
Still, keep the updates coming - it's a good read.
He's actually your mate.
And cheers, I want out of this hell hole ASAP if I'm honest, ideally to one of the Chinese money bags teams.
Spoken like a true bin man.
How on Earth are Minnesota on -14 GD? Can only assume San Jose pumped them 9-0.
