Science doesn't roll out track and trace.
Science doesn't roll out track and trace.
No, but you can bet your arse people under the banner of SCIENCE do. Quasi wankers basically.
If SCIENCE had control over track and trace, they'd probably want something a lot more precise. GPS tracking, exposure times, etc.
Track and Trace is absolutely pointless when the horse is already frolicking in the field. Most of us probably encounter someone with Covid at least once a week.
Track and Trace is for countries that actually have the thing under control.
Completely agree. Was that mentalist on Twitter banging on about it for months though until she turned her attention to long COVID?
Dido Harding and Serco aren't science.
Neither of those are who I was thinking of.
First day of a full office since March 2020 today. It's glorious. Feels like people really don't give a shit anymore. We've had a few in-person meetings over the last week with clients, and none of them asked to do it on Zoom.
Interesting that a fair few businesses are looking at keeping masks mandatory.
I wonder when we will actually be rid of all of this shit.
They need to keep masks to keep the theatre of it as a continued excuse for shit service.
I've got my second next week, brought forward from the end of the month.
AZ round two should be fun.
Other than what Lewis says, the only other reason I can think of for a business to keep masks mandatory would be if its target market is exclusively made up of the sort of self-congratulatory twat who is going to make a point of continuing to wear them for culture war reasons.
Much like it was with revealing my referendum vote, I'm waiting to see if it's going to be more hassle to keep wearing them, or to take them off.
Yeh Yev, he's had both. He knows.
How come you've had both already anyway (other than simply being more important)?
I've had both for ages, 1 - 0 for the whales
It's weird to think but I must have been in the first few hundred thousand people in the world to be vaccinated.
I guess I'm also comfortably one of the first billion. Or it would be if it actually entitled me to do anything.

Just hold it somewhere else (London) for fuck sake.
Edit: 3rd attemped link. Pay wall cunts.

It's going to be dire. Have GB even got any serious contenders?
The tests for departure were faff that led me to choosing the big name Boots but this Day 2 and 8 testing on arrival system led me to the list of providers on the govt website:
https://www.find-travel-test-provide...est-type/amber
It's such cowboy territory it's unreal. 394 listed providers, sorted by price except some are listing their on-site testing prices (under Ł10 and possibly sold out too so not even an obligation to adhere to that) and getting all the traffic at which point the general customer yields and just books a random one having seen no discernible way to choose the cheapest without going through 50+ sites. All the sites are fucking amateur hour creations so you know what sort of charlatan is behind them too. Real big money to be made in this shit if you create one and list your on-site price as 1p.

What is going on here? There were 22 people in hospital with Covid in Leeds last week.
@randomlegend
State of these people.
1 in 5 people want a 10pm Curfew regardless of Covid.
I hesitate to say those eejits didn't understand the question being posed.
"CAN'T BE TOO CAREFUL!"
I feel sorry for the people voting permanently. It will take a while for some to return to where we were 18 months ago.
That's why they need to be basically left behind by the law, and forced into it.
For a lot of the British public, the idea of other people enjoying themselves is a seriously frustrating thought.

NSW are up 409 locally acquired cases. Not surprised to hear that the NSW Police have announced harsher measurese for Western Sydney compared to Bondi and other posh Eastern Sydney shires.
Also reports that a posh girls school has had their Senior class jabbed ahead of the teachers and admin staff at the school.

People are broken. Hell, Im broken and while its taken a while to admit that I still dont think Im as broken as many. I might be wrong on that, but if Im not, well .
Hopefully it all comes to the fore soon after Sunday's finql with no more distractions.
Hospitalisations at 2,636 which seems an absolutely laughable percentage of even the first wave peak and we still have reports of doom and hospitals struggling to cope? There's very little logic present.
The hospitals struggling to cope I think is more down to the fact that swathes of staff are being made to isolate for no real reason. I'm prepared to give the government slack on a lot of things as this isn't easy, but there are two aspects of current policy that are completely nonsensical:
- People are being made to isolate with no support, financial or otherwise (why the hell would I even think about having the app?)
- We are lifting restrictions in two weeks (i.e. a sign that they are not concerned about spread) and yet contacts are still being made to isolate in order to prevent spread
Neither of these make any sense.
Isolation for hospital staff does make sense. If you're working on a cancer ward and a colleague gets the virus, you can't take a chance. Not when your patients will be immunocompromised. No health trust would sign off on that. There's probably some good data on hospital spread, too.
On the people going mental front, I went to a takeaway coffee place this morning for breakfast. I ordered a bacon sandwich and a coffee, said 'please' and 'thank you', paid my money and went to the end of the counter to wait for it. When it was done the woman shoved the sandwich and coffee on the counter with a massive scowl and shouted BREAKFAST IS SERVED! at me before turning away and huffing backstage. I mean, *McNulty voice* what the fuck did I do? You're a coffee place that does food, these demands shouldn't be unexpected.
Not to have it?
I'm a twit
On service, I had one pint in a city centre pub last night, which I nursed for ages. It took me longer to drink it than actually get it.
Britain is broken and its people are broken. I wonder how the late 40s and early 50s compared to this?
I’ve not come across any broken people in real life tbf. A very small selection people I know adhere to all the guidelines and the rest just wear masks indoors but life is otherwise normal.
I'm a twit
We went out for lunch yesterday at work. We were seated and then sat for 20 minutes without seeing a member of staff. We left and went to Wetherspoons, where we ordered on the app.
I really haven't seen any examples of broken Britain in my few times being out. I don't really see people being any different (bar mask wearing).
Probably a lot of it is EU citizens going back home and sacking off their jobs due to a combination of Brexit and COVID.
Tim Martin crying about that was one of the highlights of the year so far.
When the hospitality industry realises it will now have to pay its workers a decent wage, we will either move into a utopian type scenario, or a Basil Fawlty ongoing nightmare. I'm guessing the latter.
I think a lot of people will be like my mother, who happily mixes and breaks the rules with people she knows, but pulls a face if somebody gets too close to her in a shop.
