New York Knicks NBA Playoffs 2024 Round 1
Up against Embiid and Harris plus the ludicrously tall point guard Ben Simmons I was expecting a tough time. With seed advantage we start with two games in the Garden. Anything less than one win would be unacceptable.
Game 1: Philadelphia 76ers 107 New York Knicks 114
Pts: Gilgeous-Alexander 26
Reb: Bol 13
Ast: Gilgeous-Alexander 7
Stl: L. Allen 1
Blk: Bol 2
Knicks lead the series 1-0
I was expecting a tough game and fuck me was this just that. 15 points ahead after the first quarter the 76ers just wouldn't die, pulling it back to 2 behind going into the 4th. We held our nerve to take it. Just.
Game 2: Philadelphia 76ers 97 New York Knicks 118
Pts: L. Allen 54
Reb: J. Allen 12
Ast: Gilgeous-Alexander 7
Stl: L. Allen 3
Blk: J. Allen 2
Knicks lead the series 2-0
This one looks comfortable, but for three quarters it was anything but. This team is an absolute arse to play against. Everything bounces off Embiid and I swear Bol blocked him twice at one point only for him to score the 3rd attempt. Chuck in the freak of nature at point guard and even beating them by 21 points (which all came from the 4th quarter) was exhausting. Job done though as we take a 2-0 lead on the road. To win one would be huge.
Lucius Allen also beat the Knicks playoff record for points in a game. He is sooo good.
Game 3: New York Knicks 111 Philadelphia 76ers 114
Pts: L. Allen 32
Reb: Bol 11
Ast: Bol 5
Stl: L. Allen 1
Blk: J. Allen 4
Knicks lead the series 2-1
This one hurt and hurt bad. 10 points behind in the first quarter we closed the gap to 6 and then turned that into a 20 point lead at halftime. At the end of the 3rd we were still 19 ahead. Then it came, with the trio turning it on to take the game and we even missed a three pointer at the death to take it to overtime. Next game is huge.

And that was going to be it, absolutely buzzing after England's win, I couldn't sleep and decided to play one more...
Game 4: New York Knicks 152 Philadelphia 76ers 99
Pts: L. Allen 71
Reb: Bol 8
Ast: Gilgeous-Alexander 7
Stl: L. Allen 4
Blk: Bol 3
Knicks lead the series 3-1
There are no typos in the above and I didn't touch the difficulty. It was simply the best game I've played so far on any 2k game. 70% from the field, 34 fast break points, 30 assists, 40 rebounds (9 offensive), 15 steals, 8 blocks and only four turnovers. A game for the history books.
We started really well and were 7 points ahead after the first quarter, we then hit forty-three points in the second to take a 20 point lead into half time. We then extended that to 30 in the 3rd. Mid-way through the 3rd the crowd were silenced and the 76ers abandoned the game, chucking their reserves in. My coach tried to follow suit, but I explained to him this isn't the loser franchise you've come to expect any more, when we sense blood we kill. He then put all our stars back in again (ok, I did and I had to do this three more times in the last quarter) and we hit another 43 in the 4th.
Once we hit the 4th I focused on nothing but getting the playoff point scoring record for Lucius. First he passed Mitchell and into the top 5, then Baylor and he was top three with MJ in his sights. Michael took things personally from his armchair with about 90 seconds left and got really upset as Allen ended up surpassing it by 10. Just a perfect game and fair play to 2K as it updates you in the commentary when you get close to a record and counted Allen all the way through the top 5 as he was doing it.
Immense stuff and back to the garden to finish these fuckers off.

Current state of play. Looks like Chicago if we can see this out. Bagley, LaVine and Vucevic star for them. If we get past that I want the Hawks and that little fucker Young in the Eastern Conference Final.

Game 5: Philadelphia 76ers 104 New York Knicks 110

Blk: J. Allen 4
Knicks win Series 4-1
So back at the garden and we did it. Double doubles for Bol and Allen.
The Chicago Bulls up next in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, with the winner to play Indiana or Atlanta in the Conference finals.

New York Knicks Season 4 - Playoffs 2024 - Eastern Conference Semi-Finals
Game 1: New York Knicks 137 Chicago Bulls 124
Pts: L. Allen 63
Reb: J. Allen 16
Ast: RJ Barrett 6
Stl: L. Allen 4
Blk: J. Allen 3
Knicks lead series 1-0
A win on the road in game 1, with Allen posting a new second place record for points in a playoff game.
Game 2: New York Knicks 140 Chicago Bulls 130
Pts: Gilgeous-Alexander 69
Reb: Bol 15
Ast: RJ Barrett 8
Stl: L. Allen 1
Blk: Bol 4
Knicks lead series 2-0
SGA's 69 points moved him into second place on the all-time playoff points scored table and no matter what the Bulls threw at us, it wasn't enough. We take a 2-0 lead back to the Garden and I'm starting to believe we have a Championship winning side now.
Elsewhere in the East, the other semi-final sees 8th seed Indiana take a surprise 2-0 lead over Atlanta and in the West, Phoenix lead Houston 3-0, while Dallas are tied 1-1 with Golden State.
Free agency is looking interesting, with J. Allen's contract coming to an end I can either renew or replace. 89 rated James Wisemen is looking to test his value, which would be an immense signing. Get him and then Jordan through the draft and we'd me set to dominate the NBA for the rest of the decade.

I spoke too soon...
Game 3: Chicago Bulls 128 New York Knicks 112
Pts: L. Allen 38
Reb: J. Allen 15
Ast: Gilgeous-Alexander 9
Stl: J. Allen 2
Blk: J. Allen 3
Knicks lead series 2-1
First game back in the garden and Chicago were much better. Was far harder to cheese round the back of them for the easy layup/dunk and we were never in this one as a result.
Game 4: Chicago Bulls 128 New York Knicks 107
Pts: L. Allen 32
Reb: Bol 17
Ast: Bol 5
Stl: L. Allen 1
Blk: 3
Series tied at 2-2
With cheesing round the back now almost impossible the CPU also decided to make stealing the ball off the Bulls impossible too. 2-2 and we head back to Chicago for game 5.
Game 5: New York Knicks 103 Chicago Bulls 134
Pts: L. Allen 43
Reb: Bol 14
Ast: Bol 4
Stl: L. Allen 4
Blk: Bol 2
Bulls lead series 3-2
Brutal and we're in trouble. Game 6 in the garden, tip off at 10am.

Pts: L. Allen 46
Reb: J. Allen 19

Bulls win series 4-2
And that's it, another year, another playoff semi-final defeat. What I will say is that from 2-0 the difficulty felt like it increased hugely. We weren't in with a sniff in any of the next four games. That Bulls 5 is something else though.

Reb: Olajuwon 15

A brilliant start in the garden as we bossed every quarter to take an easy win and a 1-0 lead.

Pts: M. Jordan 42
Reb: H. Olajuwon 12
Ast: M. Jordan 10
Stl: M. Jordan 1

Harder work than the opener and we trailed at half time, but rallied and we take a 2-0 lead to Boston.

New York Knicks Season 5 - NBA Playoffs 2025
So after handing it to Boston we moved on to the semi-finals to face 4th seeds the Washington Wizards. Can we make it third time lucky and reach our first conference finals?
Magic Johnson stands in the way!
Game 1: Washington Wizards 115 New York Knicks 127
Pts: Allen 44
Reb: Bol 10
Ast: Jordan 5
Stl: Jordan 2
Blk: Bol 6
Knicks lead series 1-0
A tough start saw us trailing at half-time, but this team does not give up and we rallied hard to take both the 3rd and 4th quarters to take the opener at the Garden.
Game 2: Washington Wizards 116 New York Knicks 144
Pts: Jordan 55
Reb: Bol 14
Ast: Allen 10
Stl: Jordan 5
Blk: Bol 5
Knicks lead series 2-0
If the first game was tough this was the exact opposite. Double doubles for Allen and Bol and an easy 2-0 lead to take to Washington. This is where it all fell apart against the Bulls last season, can we hold it together this time?
Game 3: New York Knicks 148 Washington Wizards 111
Pts: Jordan 79
Reb: Olajuwon 13
Ast: Olajuwon 10
Stl: Brady 3
Blk: Jordan 3
Knicks lead series 3-0
We can indeed! Jordan breaking Allen's playoff points in a single game sees us take a 3-0 lead, one away from the conference finals.
Game 4: New York Knicks 150 Washington Wizards 111
Pts: Jordan 50
Reb: Bol 10
Ast: Allen 10
Stl: Allen 5
Blk: Olajuwon 3
Knicks win series 4-0

Not quite as comprehensive as game 1, but we did more than enough. 2 games in Chicago coming up next, if we can win one of them it'll be huge.

As close as could be really. We trailed by 19 after the first quarter as the Bulls came out strong, but pegged them back in the 3rd and even managed to take the lead, but a 37-30 4th for the Bulls saw them take it. One more game in Chicago, which is huge. Absolutely huge.
In the West, Golden State have taken a 2-1 lead over the Mavs.

A turning point this one I believe. After trying to outscore the Bulls on their patch in game 3, for this one we decided to out-rebound them. The basketball version of Gareth-ball if you will. Every time they came forward Jordan and Allen harried their players while I moved Bol and Olajuwon as close to the key as I could get them without falling foul of that stupid 3 second rule. The result? 29 rebounds and 5 blocks between the two of them, turning into 22 assists (with a career high 14 for Bol) as they won the ball and found Jordan time and time again. MJ did his thing, hitting 70 points, the 4th highest playoff score ever and we ran out comfortable winners, taking every quarter. Our first win in Chicago in 5 attempts and we now get two shots to clinch it in the Garden, either side of a trip back to Chicago should we need it. Let's do it in one.
Dallas level things up with Golden State. 3 games left max in each tie to find out who'll contest the 2025 NBA Finals.

We are Eastern Conference champions!
As for the game itself it was a tight one, with both teams level at 112 points each with two minutes to play and Jordan having been fouled out at the beginning of the 4th quarter. A huge 3 from Bingo Smith started a 15 point run without reply that clinched the conference for us.

Right, you need:
Two guards that are fast, can steal and can lay up or dunk expertly
A small foward that can shoot threes (like late 90s shoot threes)
Two mobile-ish seven footers at PF and C
It's the perfect recipe for success.

From watching your streams I think you may need to up the CPU defensive awareness and there’s another slider but I forget the name. Force field or shield. Something like that. It just makes it harder for you to dribble past the opponent.

Ah, have you played it a lot 7om? Did you run into similar difficulty issues?

To be honest I didn’t run into too much difficulty. If I felt it was getting easier I’d just tweak the sliders. Maybe reduce your shot success and the CPU defensive abilities.

I have a feeling your sliders might be about right though. Because when your team was poor you were getting bummed. Now you have good players you are winning again.

There is got to be a way to tell the AI to stop letting Jordan run through the side and into the paint every single play. When I watched, something like 90% of Yev's points came in that exact same way.
-

Yeah, that’s what I was talking about. I just checked and I think there are three sliders Yev should increase: body up sensitivity, on ball defence and defensive awareness.
